About This Product

Are you looking for a product that will coordinate with your life science curriculum and engage your grade 2 or grade 3 learners? Your search is over! This set of worksheets is a great addition to your lessons about animal adaptations and/or the rainforest habitat. Designed to be cross curricular, this product will give your learners the opportunity to strengthen their skills in reading, writing, science, and critical thinking. They’ll begin by reading brief paragraphs about the following animals that call the rainforest their home: toucan, sloth, Poison Dart frog, capybara, iguana, Brazilian tapir, jaguar, and Pink River dolphin. Three additional paragraphs about the Blue Heron, rattlesnake, and Arctic wolf are also included. Following reading, your second or third graders will list the unique adaptations of the rainforest dwellers. Three worksheets are available for this activity, allowing for differentiated learning. After focusing on only rainforest animals, your learners will turn their attention to an activity that also involves listing adaptations of non-rainforest animals. This will prepare them for the brief comparison writing activity that rounds out the set of worksheets. Once they have compared and contrasted one rainforest animal with one non-rainforest animal, learners will illustrate their writing with drawings of both creatures. These print and go worksheets are available in both a color version, as well as a black & white version. PLEASE NOTE: both versions are identical. An answer key is not provided because answers will vary among learners. Below are details of the worksheets included in this product.
