Subtraction with Ten Frames

Have your students just started learning how to subtract? Have they mastered the skill? Do you have students in your classroom who could use additional practice to sharpen their subtraction skills?

This is a Subtraction with Ten Frames Printable Pack for your lower elementary students. Students will practice with 0 to 10 and 0 to 20.  

There are 4 pages included. The first page will provide students with a visual example for how to correctly implement this strategy. Students will practice with drawing the lower number (with one color) and then counting up to the starting number (with a different color). The number of circles they drew with the second color will give them the difference or the answer to their subtraction problem.

On the last two pages, students will cut out the circles at the bottom of the pages and use these circles in their ten frame to find the differences for each equation.

These pages can be completed as a whole group, small group, or in centers.
