Two Practice Sheets - Algebra Tiles and Algebraic Expressions
About This Product
This file contains 2 practice sheets for students to identify the algebraic expression represented by algebra tiles. One sheet has 10 problems and the other has 9 problems. Each sheet contains both conversions: from algebra tiles to an expression and vice-versa. Sheet one contains only positive terms but sheet two contains both positive and negative terms. White algebra tiles are used for positive variables and numbers and black tiles are used for negative variables and numbers. A key to these conversions are included for students on each sheet. These practice sheets lead toward the 6th grade math standard: Write expressions that record operations with numbers and with letters standing for numbers. The teacher answer keys for each sheet are included.
Algebra tiles provide a concrete, visual representation of abstract algebraic concepts. Students can see the relationship between different terms and how they combine, helping to bridge the gap between concrete and abstract understanding.
