You will find a word search and a crosswords: Les membres de la famille.

For differentiation: there are 2 versions for each game.

- 1 flag = find the English equivalent of the French words

- 2 flags = find the French equivalent of the English words.

The same words are used in both versions

Assign the crossword and word search from the same translation direction as a matched pair, since both puzzles in each pair share the identical 15-word vocabulary list and answer key.
Use the gender colour-coding challenge as a quick formative check after the puzzle is finished, since it appears on every worksheet as a fixed follow-up task.

Skills covered

Bidirectional vocabulary translation — students complete matched puzzle pairs asking for the English translation of French terms and the French translation of English terms.
Grammatical gender classification — the recurring challenge task asks students to sort the 15 family words into masculine and feminine groups by colour.
