About this resource

Nine-times-table equations, from 9x0 through 9x12, run across a stack of practice formats: timed fill-in-the-blank grids with a speed line for self-timing, cut-and-paste answer squares, colour-by-number pages where the product determines which colour to shade, and picture-based equation solving (balloons, kites, rockets, fruit) where students write the answer inside the shape before colouring and cutting it out. A multiplication chart and an x9 test round out the set, and every format — timed drills, colour-by-answer pages, the chart, and the test — is followed by its own filled-in answer key later in the file. The resource is one installment of a larger times-tables series by the same creator, who references other multiplication-fact sets for different numbers.

Teaching tips & learning objectives

Learning objectives

  • Student can recall the products of 9 multiplied by 0 through 12 with automaticity.

  • Student can apply the 9-times table within varied task formats (timed drills, colour-by-number, cut-and-paste).

Teaching tips

  • Use the timed drill pages (with the 'Speed' line) as short daily fluency checks rather than one-time assessments.

  • Assign the colour-by-answer pages for early finishers, since correct multiplication is required to reveal the intended colour pattern, making errors visually obvious.

  • Check students against the provided answer keys for each format rather than re-solving each page by hand.

Skills covered

  • Nine-times-table recall — students solve products from 9x0 through 9x12 across timed and untimed formats.

  • Self-checking practice through visual feedback — students colour a picture based on computed products, so an incorrect answer produces a visibly wrong colour pattern.

  • Fact fluency under time pressure — students record how quickly they complete a full nine-times-table drill using the built-in speed line.
