National Picnic Day word search puzzle worksheet activity
National Picnic Day Word Search - Outdoor Learning Fun!
I made this word search for my 3rd graders last year when we celebrated National Picnic Day (April 23rd). It's a simple 2-page PDF with 24 picnic-related words hidden in all directions - just like the worksheets I use every week.
You'll find:
• Page 1: The word search grid with words like "blanket," "basket," and "sandwich"
• Page 2: A clean answer key
I printed these on tan paper to look like picnic baskets and the kids loved finding words while eating their snacks outdoors. The words include:
Easy finds: "sun," "food"
Medium: "lemonade," "napkins"
Challenging: "thermos," "checkered"
Perfect for:
• Outdoor classroom days
• End-of-year activities
• Lunch bunch groups
Last April, we used this before writing about our dream picnics - the word search gave students great vocabulary ideas!
Format: No-frills PDF (2 pages)
Teacher Tip: Have students circle their favourite picnic food in the puzzle!
