About this resource

Pupils name six pictures, select the beginning blend and write pl or pr on the response line. A separate answer page supports checking after they finish. Read the picture words aloud together if pupils need help identifying the images before focusing on the two blends.

Curriculum reference — England: Initial-cluster decoding and segmentation support early phonics. Selected skills only; reference stage is not an overall reading age, complete curriculum coverage, or an automatic recommendation for every learner.
