Curriculum reference — England: Remove unsupported Grade5 marketing; repeated answer versions are not extra exercises. Only regular s/es plural practice has an explicit Year1 connection here; irregular examples are supplementary, not covered by this expectation. Common plurals support Grade1 grammar; the irregular/error-correction sections are supplementary and may require support. Selected skills only; reference stage is not an overall reading age, complete curriculum coverage, or an automatic recommendation for every learner.

Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
- Form plural nouns using the appropriate spelling pattern or irregular form.
- Identify singular forms from the supplied plurals.
- Correct noun-number errors in sentences.
Teaching tips
- Assign the two conversion lists (singular-to-plural and plural-to-singular) before the multiple-choice section, since several of the same irregular nouns (mouse, child, wolf) reappear across all three.
- Use the sentence-correction section as a quick error-spotting warm-up, since each of the seven sentences contains exactly one incorrect noun form to identify and fix.
- Have pupils complete the sorting task last, since its 22-word list draws directly from nouns already practised in the earlier sections.
Skills covered
- Plural spelling — apply patterns such as consonant-y to -ies and selected f to -ves forms.
- Irregular-form recall — recognise pairs such as mouse/mice and child/children.
- Error correction — revise the noun form that does not fit its sentence.
