Thomas Jefferson's Birthday Word Search - Presidential Classroom Activity
I made this word search for my 5th graders last year when we studied the Founding Fathers. It's a simple 2-page PDF with 24 terms about Jefferson's life and achievements - words like "Monticello," "Declaration," and "Louisiana" hidden in all directions.
The puzzle includes:
• Key vocabulary from our history unit
• A mix of easy and challenging words
• A clean layout that's easy to read
I used this as:
A warm-up activity before our Jefferson lesson
A quiet time option during testing week
Extra credit for early finishers
Some words like "architect" and "inventor" sparked great discussions about Jefferson's talents beyond politics. The kids especially liked finding "Macaroni" after we learned about his unusual food interests!
Page 1 has the word search grid. Page 2 is a plain answer key - nothing fancy, just functional. I printed them on parchment-style paper to look historic.
