As with the spelling/vocab section, writing prompts will vary. This includes research pieces, reading responses, poetry and creative writing prompts. In the first round, click on the numbers in order to reveal clues. There is no in-built points system giving the teacher full control over how you wish to grade the game. Clues range in difficulty with the majority of first clues harder and the last clue making it easier to guess. Press the box to reveal the final picture (the word itself). The reveal box can be done at the end if you wish to reveal the letters bellow first; the word is spelled in the boxes at the bottom, click on each box to reveal a letter. Round two offers a similar style but clues are in picture format. There is no reveal box but letters at the bottom as in round 1. There are arrows to move to the next slide throughout. About the Game This game offers a chance to practice a range of skills and gives the teacher control over how they want students to answer. Given a mix of clues in word and picture format, teachers can reveal each letter in the answer individually. Long I: Three Quiz Show Style Games Note: This download is in PowerPoint show mode to protect the rights of the image creator(s), and is thus UNEDITABLE. Playing the Game After the titles and information about the game, the first game will begin. Students will be shown a close-up photo of an object and have to guess what it is. Press the = button for the answer and the original photo with word will appear. Press the arrow button to move onto the next question. 6 questions in total. Second game is a memory game. Starting with three pictures and ending up with six, students have ten seconds to observe the pictures on the screen, then need to say the words they remember. The picture page will automatically move on after ten seconds but if you wish to move on yourself quicker then there is an arrow button. In the answer screen, answers will flash if correct, dim if incorrect. Finally game is more like a question and answer, but in two parts. In the part, there will be a clue and 3-6 words to choose from. Press the correct answer. In the second section you will get the reverse, one word and then two to three clues to choose from. Choose the correct clue for the word. Includes arrows to move onto the next page. About the Game These three quiz show games will give you the perfect opportunity to practice key long I vocabulary and practice the long I sound. With a mix of reading and picture related questions, this will give each student amply opportunity to practice. Three games. This U-E activities Pack is designed to help children learn to sound out words with the u-e sound and differentiate between u-e and ‘u’, a common cause of confusion amongst young learners. This pack will give children much practice, which will, in turn, help them become more confident at sounding out such words. Who is the U-E activities Pack suitable for? All phonics learners, including young children, SEN/special needs, ESL etc... Aims and Objectives Some children, when starting to learn about the long /u-e/ sound will start to make every /u/ into a long /u-e/ sound. While this is common among all children, some children need more help to overcome this difficulty. Therefore, this U-E activities Pack has two aims: 1.To help children to be able to hear the long vowel sound u-e in words 2.To help children understand that some words have a short /u/ and some have a long /u-e/; the child must listen to hear which word has which - not guess. What is included in the U-E activities Pack? 2 games of lottos, one with 6 pictures and one with 12 - differentiated to meet the needs of all children, supplied in both colour and black and white. (5 questions) Game 3 - 4 Choices. Two kinds of question in this game - word prompt and clue prompt. In the word prompt you have to select the correct answer for the word provided. Playing the Game There are two rounds in this game, the arrow in the bottom right will navigate you through the powerpoint. Round 1 - 6 Stars 1 Question Static: A question will appear in the middle of the screen and there will be six stars containing words that surround it. Choose the correct word for each question. Correct answer will flash, incorrect will dim. (8 questions) Round 2 - 6 Stars 1 Question Moving: Similar concept to round 2 but this time after seeing the clue, the six stars will fly in and out across the screen one-by-one. Quickly click on the correct star. If you fail there is a chance to repeat the slide. There is a quick ready message before each question, this will move on automatically. (9 questions) About the Game You are looking at a game that requires multiple skills and will allow your student to practice reading long O phonics words. Phonics Strategies for 3rd & 4th Graders Part 2 is a 375-page product designed for students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade who are encountering advanced words in their educational and recreational reading, and need a program that goes beyond the beginning phonics building blocks. Just as later elementary students are getting older and more mature, this program has a more grown-up look. To keep the student’s attention, concepts are presented with multiple approaches including listening skills, identifying, decoding, written work, hands-on activities, pronunciation and spelling rules, letter-tile activities, phonics poems and phonics games. The phonogram types that are emphasized in Part 2 are: Vvc/Vvcc chunks, Vce chunks, and three and four-letter diphthong-vowel phonograms. There are hands-on activities for decoding words that end with ge/ve/ce/ze. 22 pages are devoted to advanced word endings (ture; ible/able; ous/ious/eous; tious/cious/scious; tial/cial/cian/science/cient, etc.). Worksheets on dividing words into syllables focus on three and four-syllable words.
