Who is St. Patrick? Read-Aloud Passage + Activities (Grades 2–5) If you’re looking for a St. Patrick’s Day read aloud that teaches the real story behind the holiday, this resource is a simple, meaningful option. Students will learn about St. Patrick’s life from birth to death through a three-page informational reading written in a clear, student-friendly style. I designed it to work well for whole-group read aloud time, but it can also be used in small groups or for independent reading, depending on your class. After the reading, students answer comprehension questions that check understanding and encourage them to go back into the text to find information. This makes it easy to use for a quick ELA lesson, a literacy center, or a printable activity for the week of St. Patrick’s Day. To support different learning needs (and to make the lesson feel accessible and engaging), this resource also includes story coloring pages that visually retell the key events. Under each picture is a single word to a short sentence , which works especially well for students who benefit from visual supports, emergent readers who are building confidence, and children who simply focus better when their hands are busy.
