St. Patrick's Day Alphabet Pocket Chart Game

Get students excited about learning the letters of the alphabet with this St. Patrick's Day pocket chart hide and seek game. What is Included: This resource includes two sets of alphabet cards in two different sizes to accommodate different sized pocket charts. There are three different leprechaun images for teachers to choose from to hide behind one of the letters. The alphabet cards are available in both capital and lowercase letters. How to Play: To play, teachers will place the letter cards into the pocket chart in any order they desire. Without the students looking, the teacher will hide one leprechaun picture behind one letter. Students will then either say the letter name or letter sound to guess the letter they think the leprechaun is hiding behind. If that leprechaun is not hiding behind that letter, the students will guess a different letter. If the leprechaun is behind the letter, students have found the leprechaun and to play more, it will need to be hidden again. There is an optional poem that can be chanted before each letter guess to make the game more interactive. This pocket chart game is a low prep option for teachers to use with students. Once created, the game can be used over and over in various classroom settings. When to Use: This game is perfect to use in a pocket chart during a morning routine or circle time to review letters students have already been exposed to. This game is a great addition to a literacy center, as it is easy for students to set up and play in groups of 2 or 3. This game makes a great activity to leave with a sub, as it is something that is easy to do, and students love playing the game. This game can also be used to as a reinforcement for struggling learners in a small group setting.

Whether students are in the classroom or in the computer lab , you may be on the hunt for some computer skills resources that you know students will love. Many of our students, young and old, enjoy putting their tech skills to use. It is always impactful when we can give them opportunities to show what they know and/or teach them new things! This is a Pixel Pics Spreadsheet Activity. It is the St. Patrick's Day Edition. This activity would work for any age of students who have learned about different computer applications, including Google Spreadsheets. Students will be given access to 1 spreadsheet. On this spreadsheet, there are 5 tabs. Students can complete all 5 tabs, you can assign which tabs you want them to complete, or you can let the students choose which ones to complete. St. Patrick's Day Beginning Sound Sort

This beginning sound sort is a great hands on activity for recognizing the most common sound of each letter of the alphabet. This is an easy and fun activity to give students who need practice with recognizing the beginning sound of each letter from amongst other letter sounds or for those students who need extra practice distinguishing between the initial sounds in words. To complete this sorting activity , students will look at the pictures inside the gold coins and place the coin into the correct pot according to that picture's beginning sound. This sorting activity includes 12 pages that contains There are twenty-six pot mats that each have one letter of the alphabet on the pot, in both its capital form and its lowercase form. There are 52 gold coin pieces for students to match with the correct pot. There are also pictures for X in the initial position and X in the final position depending on which sound is taught. This beginning sound sort can be used in the following ways Literacy centers Fine motor centers File folder activity Add magnets to the picture cards for a baking tray activity Small group activities Morning work Emergency sub plans If making a file folder game, the teacher will place one or two mats on either side of the folder and use hook and loop fasteners to sort the gold coin pictures. Skills assessed with these initial sound sort Initial Sound of the each letter of the alphabet Ability to sort the picture cards on to the correct mat This beginning sounds sorting activity is a low prep activity . All a teacher needs to do is to print the pages, cut out the picture cards and laminate the pages and cards if desired. The activity is easy to set up and to put away and store.
