St. Patrick's Day Acrostic Poems
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Holidays, St. Patrick's Day, Writing, Grade 3, 4, Activities
This fun St. Patrick's Day writing activity includes three St. Patrick's Day acrostic poems. Each has a fun font, border and art for students to make their own. Words included: St. Patrick's Day, leprechaun, and pot of gold. They can be done anytime throughout the month of March. Or you could do them as an activity on St. Patrick's Day. You could have all students do all three, or students could choose which one they want to complete. These would also be great for early finishers. Have students color the border, letters, and pictures. Students could glue them on to green construction paper, and they'd be a great activity to put up on a bulletin board or in the hallway outside of your classroom. Acrostic poems are such a fun activity to complete. However, students do need to be taught what it is and how to complete it correctly. If you just tell them to think of a word that starts with that letter, the words won't necessarily go along with the word. I also allow my students to come up with a short phrase or a word. For example, for POT OF GOLD, for F students could write: Found at the end of a rainbow.
