This set of Winter-themed learning activities is the perfect addition to your ELA curriculum. Your kiddos in Pre-K, TK, kindergarten, and grade 1 will benefit from the variety of activities this product offers. Within the pages you will find 16 flashcards with pictures and their corresponding word labels, 7 worksheets, 2 hands-on learning games, and 1 additional learning game in a Power Point format. Not only will these learning tools help strengthen vocabulary, but they’ll also give your pre-readers the opportunity to practice the concepts of identifying uppercase and lowercase letters and phonemic awareness. The 16 Winter-themed words are used throughout each activity and focus on holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah, and Valentine’s Day. There are also terms that relate directly to the season of Winter such as hibernation, penguins, and snowflakes. Along with the aforementioned areas of learning, your learners will also practice fundamental fine motor skills with writing letters, cutting, gluing, and manipulating clothes pins. The flashcards and 2 hands-on learning games are available in both a color version and a black & white version. Most of the worksheets are also available in both versions. The 25 Power Point slides were created in a full-color version to entice and engage your learners. While the Power Point activity was designed as a whole class learning game, the 2 additional games are wonderful individual or small learning group activities. The 7 worksheets can be used in a variety of ways including large or small groups, individually, or a homework assignment. For your convenience, an answer key is provided for all worksheets. Below are the details of each activity included in this product. PAGES 1-3: Sixteen flashcards with pictures and word labels PAGE 4: learners will circle one of two letters that show the beginning sound of the winter picture. PAGE 5: learners will draw lines matching the beginning sound of a winter picture and its letter partner. PAGE 6: learners will color the “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” symbol to show if the given letter matches the beginning sound of the winter picture. Students will gain practice in recognizing the beginning sounds of words as well as identifying beginning blends and digraphs using real photographic images. What is included: There are 18 beginning sound cards There are 1 beginning digraph cards There are 1 beginning trigraph cards The cards are differentiated for students who need more support in figuring out the beginning sound of each picture. One set includes the word typed out with the beginning sound, blend or digraph missing for the student to identify. The other set just has the real picture for the student to identify its beginning sounds. How to Use: Students will look at the picture on each clip card and say the word that is represented by the picture. The student will then use a clip to mark the correct beginning sound, beginning blend or beginning digraph. Once completed, the beginning sound clip cards and clips can be easily stored inside a task box. When to Use: Literacy Center - The teacher can place the clip cards and clips in a literacy center for students to complete independently or with a partner. Print the cards with the envelope template for each card (print 8 copies of the envelope template), have students choose their favorite, cut the card and the envelope template, fold them, and personalize them to give to a friend or loved one. Students will Practice hands-on craft skills (cutting, folding, pasting, problem solving with the challenge of properly creating an envelope from the template). Practice handwriting and spelling, proper grammar (including use of capitalization for proper nouns, at the beginning of sentence, proper use of commas and periods). Practice proper addressing of an envelope in preparation of sending in the mail, which is an important life skill. Greeting cards are not age specific. If the student can't read or write, they can draw pictures inside their card and get help from peers and teachers.

Valentine’s Day is full of romantic thoughts and ideas. It is also rich in reds, pinks, and bright whites, which helps to brighten up the dull winter season, before spring brings new life. This Valentines Day Social Skills Activities Worksheet was created to celebrate the season as well as give teachers and homeschoolers something unique to do to practice social emotional learning, facial recognition, and fine motor skills. This is a short one-page activity that doesn’t require any writing, though reading is involved if it is completed independently. An alternative to using cotton swabs and paint is to have students decorate their pictures with dots of colored glue. Offering hands-on experience, the cards assist students in solving math facts by finding the sum for each card, using number sentences. What is Included: Addition Number Bond Cards for finding the sum within 10 Addition Math Mats and Acorn Counters to assist students in solving each addition fact This addition card set contains one card for each addition fact for sums within 10. Students will find these math addition cards engaging and fun. These cards easily differentiated so students on different levels can still be successful. By including the addition number bond, number sentence mats and counters, students are provided a hands on way to solve each problem if they need the extra support. Teachers may choose to use real candy hearts or other manipulatives to assist in counting if they do not wish to print and prep the heart counters. These centers are easy and low prep, just print, laminate and cut. They can be used as task boxes, traditional math centers or as morning basket or morning tub activities. How Can These Activities Be Used? Task Boxes - Place the cut apart cards in a task box with a dry erase marker for students to solve each addition fact.
