This set of Winter-themed learning activities is the perfect addition to your ELA curriculum. Your kiddos in Pre-K, TK, kindergarten, and grade 1 will benefit from the variety of activities this product offers. Within the pages you will find 16 flashcards with pictures and their corresponding word labels, 7 worksheets, 2 hands-on learning games, and 1 additional learning game in a Power Point format. Not only will these learning tools help strengthen vocabulary, but they’ll also give your pre-readers the opportunity to practice the concepts of identifying uppercase and lowercase letters and phonemic awareness. The 16 Winter-themed words are used throughout each activity and focus on holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah, and Valentine’s Day. There are also terms that relate directly to the season of Winter such as hibernation, penguins, and snowflakes. Along with the aforementioned areas of learning, your learners will also practice fundamental fine motor skills with writing letters, cutting, gluing, and manipulating clothes pins. The flashcards and 2 hands-on learning games are available in both a color version and a black & white version. Most of the worksheets are also available in both versions. The 25 Power Point slides were created in a full-color version to entice and engage your learners. While the Power Point activity was designed as a whole class learning game, the 2 additional games are wonderful individual or small learning group activities. The 7 worksheets can be used in a variety of ways including large or small groups, individually, or a homework assignment. For your convenience, an answer key is provided for all worksheets. Below are the details of each activity included in this product. PAGES 1-3: Sixteen flashcards with pictures and word labels PAGE 4: learners will circle one of two letters that show the beginning sound of the winter picture. PAGE 5: learners will draw lines matching the beginning sound of a winter picture and its letter partner. PAGE 6: learners will color the “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” symbol to show if the given letter matches the beginning sound of the winter picture. PAGE 7: learners will cut and glue letters to the winter picture that matches the beginning sound. PAGE 8: learners will color one of two winter pictures that have the beginning sound of the letter shown. PAGE 9: learners will write the uppercase and lowercase letters of the winter picture’s beginning sound. PAGE 10: learners will write the first letter of a winter word that shows its beginning sound. PAGES 11-14: learners will place labeled clothespins or letter tiles at the beginning of each winter word to show the word’s beginning sound. Valentine's Day Alphabet Clip Cards

Kindergarteners and preschoolers will have a blast practicing letter recognition with these Valentine's Day alphabet clip cards. Students will get tons exposure to matching capital and lowercase letters as well as building fine motor skills by using clothes clips to identify each letter. What is Included: Each letter has four clip cards, for a total of 104 clip cards. Activities included with these clip cards are matching a capital letter to the same capital letter, matching a lowercase letter to the same lowercase letter and matching a capital letter with its corresponding lowercase letter. How to Use: To use these clip cards, students will need to use a clip or some other manipulative to mark each clip card. Students will look at the letter on each heart card and then clip or cover the letter that matches the letter on the heart. The teacher may choose to use other objects, like counters, bingo chips or mini erasers to identify each correct answer. The clip cards can be laminated so students can mark their correct responses with dry erase. I Have… Who Has…Valentine’s Day Card Game

This is an easy-to-play game that is fun for a Valentine’s Day Party. Girls will match up the answers on their cards with questions on other girls cards. How to Play: Girls will read the answer on their card aloud: “I have ”. This girl will then read the question at the bottom of their card – ‘Who has _?’ Then the girl with the card that answers the question responds. Every card in the set is connected to a card before it and a card after it. Play continues in this fashion until all of the cards have been played. The game will end with the same girl who started play.

Students will gain practice in recognizing the beginning sounds of words as well as identifying beginning blends and digraphs using real photographic images. What is included: There are 18 beginning sound cards There are 1 beginning digraph cards There are 1 beginning trigraph cards The cards are differentiated for students who need more support in figuring out the beginning sound of each picture. One set includes the word typed out with the beginning sound, blend or digraph missing for the student to identify. The other set just has the real picture for the student to identify its beginning sounds. How to Use: Students will look at the picture on each clip card and say the word that is represented by the picture. The student will then use a clip to mark the correct beginning sound, beginning blend or beginning digraph. Once completed, the beginning sound clip cards and clips can be easily stored inside a task box. When to Use: Literacy Center - The teacher can place the clip cards and clips in a literacy center for students to complete independently or with a partner.
