This set of Winter-themed learning activities is the perfect addition to your ELA curriculum. Your kiddos in Pre-K, TK, kindergarten, and grade 1 will benefit from the variety of activities this product offers. Within the pages you will find 16 flashcards with pictures and their corresponding word labels, 7 worksheets, 2 hands-on learning games, and 1 additional learning game in a Power Point format. Not only will these learning tools help strengthen vocabulary, but they’ll also give your pre-readers the opportunity to practice the concepts of identifying uppercase and lowercase letters and phonemic awareness. The 16 Winter-themed words are used throughout each activity and focus on holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah, and Valentine’s Day. There are also terms that relate directly to the season of Winter such as hibernation, penguins, and snowflakes. Along with the aforementioned areas of learning, your learners will also practice fundamental fine motor skills with writing letters, cutting, gluing, and manipulating clothes pins. The flashcards and 2 hands-on learning games are available in both a color version and a black & white version. Most of the worksheets are also available in both versions. The 25 Power Point slides were created in a full-color version to entice and engage your learners. While the Power Point activity was designed as a whole class learning game, the 2 additional games are wonderful individual or small learning group activities. The 7 worksheets can be used in a variety of ways including large or small groups, individually, or a homework assignment. For your convenience, an answer key is provided for all worksheets. Below are the details of each activity included in this product. PAGES 1-3: Sixteen flashcards with pictures and word labels PAGE 4: learners will circle one of two letters that show the beginning sound of the winter picture. PAGE 5: learners will draw lines matching the beginning sound of a winter picture and its letter partner. PAGE 6: learners will color the “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” symbol to show if the given letter matches the beginning sound of the winter picture. PAGE 7: learners will cut and glue letters to the winter picture that matches the beginning sound. PAGE 8: learners will color one of two winter pictures that have the beginning sound of the letter shown. PAGE 9: learners will write the uppercase and lowercase letters of the winter picture’s beginning sound. PAGE 10: learners will write the first letter of a winter word that shows its beginning sound. These heart alphabet cards are perfect for students who are learning with a Valentine's Day theme. They make the perfect tool for students to learn the letters of the alphabet. What is Included: This set includes one capital letter card and one lowercase letter card for each letter. Ways to Use the Cards: Play a matching game by matching the capital letters to the lowercase letters. Attach a paper clip to a letter card and use a magnetic fishing pole to "catch" the letters for a fun fishing game. Use a sand or salt tray for students to practice writing the letters on each card. And while it's now known for kissing, Valentine's Day gifts, and hard-to-get dinner reservations, the origins of the holiday are far less romantic. Many people believe he’s celebrated for his role as a Roman priest who helped couples secretly get married. Valentine’s Day did not come to be celebrated as a day of romance until about the 14th century. Today, we celebrate it on the 14th of February. This 90-minute lesson will teach young children the real history behind the globally celebrated Valentine's Day. It is based on the YouTube video 'Bet You Didn't Know: Valentine's Day | History' by the acclaimed History channel. There are plenty of activities and their answers are provided at the end.

Valentine’s Day is full of romantic thoughts and ideas. It is also rich in reds, pinks, and bright whites, which helps to brighten up the dull winter season, before spring brings new life. This Valentines Day Social Skills Activities Worksheet was created to celebrate the season as well as give teachers and homeschoolers something unique to do to practice social emotional learning, facial recognition, and fine motor skills. This is a short one-page activity that doesn’t require any writing, though reading is involved if it is completed independently. What is Included: Addition Number Bond Cards for finding the sum within 10 Addition Math Mats and Acorn Counters to assist students in solving each addition fact This addition card set contains one card for each addition fact for sums within 10. Students will find these math addition cards engaging and fun. These cards easily differentiated so students on different levels can still be successful. By including the addition number bond, number sentence mats and counters, students are provided a hands on way to solve each problem if they need the extra support. Teachers may choose to use real candy hearts or other manipulatives to assist in counting if they do not wish to print and prep the heart counters.
