If you are looking for impactful resources for your reading students to complete, I have just the resource for you. If your students are studying short stories or getting ready to write their own short story, this is a Short Story Graphic Organizer that will benefit them. This resource is great for upper elementary and middle school students. The objective is for students to correctly complete a graphic organizer with all the necessary details. This is a 1-page printable that features a graphic organizer in the shape of a triangle to best represent the format of storytelling. This chart can be used in two different ways. If you want to assess student’s ability to identify these things within a story they are reading, this is a great way. another great way to implement this chart is to guide student writing if they have been tasked with writing their own short story. By using this chart, students are more likely to create an organized and compelling piece of written work. Students will start on the left side of the triangle and work their way up the line with 3 separate events meant to detail the rising action. By the time students reach the tip of the triangle, they will determine what they want their climax, or dramatic turning point to be. Students will write two separate events as they climb down the right side of the triangle for their falling action. They will finish with their resolution. This can be an independent task for students but you may also choose to have students put their brains together to complete a small group short story. I hope you enjoy! Chernobyl: Interactive Website Activity
Social Studies, History, History: World, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, Activities
Chernobyl was a nuclear power plant in Ukraine, which had a terrible accident in 1986. An explosion and a fire happened in the reactor, which released a lot of radioactive material into the air. Radiation is a type of energy that can be harmful to humans and animals if they are exposed to too much of it. The radioactive material from the Chernobyl accident spread over a large area, and many people and animals were exposed to it. The radiation made some people very sick, and some even died from radiation poisoning. Many people had to leave their homes and never go back because the area was too dangerous to live in. After the accident, many countries worked together to try to clean up the area and make it safe again. They built a big structure called the "sarcophagus" around the damaged reactor to contain the radioactive material. People still work to make the area safer today. The Chernobyl accident was a tragedy, but it also taught us a lot about the importance of nuclear safety and the dangers of radiation. We continue to learn from it and work to prevent similar accidents from happening in the future. In this activity, students use the worksheet to explore the History Channel's Chernobyl website to find the answers to the worksheet . Students can work in pairs or individually to complete the task. This product comes with a complete teacher key. Ready to use - no prep!
