Sometimes People Cry Social Story
Special Resources, Social Skills, Not Grade Specific,
Social stories use a patient and reassuring tone to teach children about social situations in a way that can be easily understood. Social stories are particularly useful for children on the autistic spectrum for whom social cues can be challenging and who often suffer anxiety if they do not know what to expect from a situation however social stories can also be useful for any child who is struggling to understand a situation or concept or needs help to understand a social skill or social cue, expectations, perspectives, common responses or is troubled about an upcoming event. This social story is to support children who get particularly distressed when they see others crying. These books should be used over and over to reinforce the point so I would suggest either putting the pages into a display book or laminating and binding them. Clipart images courtesy of Kari Bolt.

Growth Mindset Posters for High School & Adult Learners
, Grade 9, 10, 11, 12, Posters, Classroom Decor
Cultivate a Growth Mindset in your class with thesehigh-qualitymotivational & inspirational posters. Perfect for high school & adult students. Looks great on any classroom wall! Includes Lesson Plan that highlights activities & strategies to introduce Growth Mindset thinking to your students. "A person with a fixed mindset believes that his or her intelligence is static, while a person with a growth mindset believes that his or her intelligence can be developed. The latter group is thus more likely to embrace challenges, persist in the face of setbacks, and see effort as a natural path to mastery. The distinction between these two extremes has tremendous implications for motivation, productivity, and confidence; in the pursuit of success, mindset is everything." The benefits of fostering a growth mindset in a classroom are multiple, and can truly have lasting effects on your students. Yeats said that education was "not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire". Utilizing a growth mindset is giving the students the kindling and a box of matches so that they blaze a path to success for their lives. Lesson plans gives you various ideas of how to use the posters (of course, you can just put them on the wall if you're just looking to inspire students) and there is a PPT containing all the quotes and posters, so that you can go through them together as a class!
