Get students excited avout learning letters with these hands-on alphabet mats! This alphabet activity uses different kinds of manipulatives or craft supplies to build each letter mats for a hands-on approach to practice letter recognition and formation. What is Included: There is one mat for each capital letter. There is one mat for each lowercase letter. There is one mat for each number 1-10. Ways to use these mats: Students can use pouch tops to build each letter. Students can use cotton balls or pom poms to create each letter. Students can stick stickers in each circle to fill in each letter. Students can use bingo dabbers to make each letter. Students can use mini erasers to fill in each letter. One thing I have done with these mats is to provide manipulatives that begin with the target letter for students to use to fill in each letter mat. This way, students are exposed to the letter's beginning sound as well as its shape and form. Turn the Mats into a Game! To make these mats a game, provide students with a die. The students will roll the die and, then the students will add the correct number of manipulatives to the letter mat until they build the entire letter. Where to Use: Literacy Centers - Simply place the mats and manipulatives in a literacy center for students to complete alone or with a partner.
