If your students are diving deep into writing projects , you have more than likely introduced the topic of choosing sources. Whether students are writing argumentative essays or opinion writing, you probably have students sources evidence to support their writing. We know that our writing may only be as strong as the sources we pull our information from. Teaching students how to find strong sources is an important skill. This is a Choosing Reliable Sources Lesson to help students determine which sources can be trusted and which ones cannot. The objective is for students to recognize credible and reliable sources by using the CRAAP test. The CRAAP acronym is as follows: C – currency R – relevance A – authority A – accuracy P – purpose Students will learn about peer reviewed journals and the 6 indicators of a reputable journal. Preparation Photocopy Board onto A3 paper or card (Colour and greyscale versions included). How to Play Highest score of dice starts Pupils take turns and work their way around the board following the instructions in the squares.
