Sound Word Wall

A Sound Word Wall focuses on phonics by displaying words grouped according to phonetic patterns or sounds. This resource aids students in understanding letter-sound relationships, which is crucial for decoding new words. By organizing words based on sounds like "sh," "ch," or long vowels, you help students make connections and apply phonics rules in reading and writing. Incorporate a sound word wall to enhance your phonics instruction and provide a visual tool that supports auditory learning.

A colourful A4-size alphabet picture chart to help children learn to recognise the upper and lower case letters of the alphabet. Each letter has a picture of an object that begins with that sound. 2 font styles are included. There are many ways to use these charts: Wall reference Desk reference - give one to each child; special needs children especially find them helpful. Here is a super pack of 2 'ai' digraph sound mats for school or home use. One colour version for the teacher and one black and white version for the pupil to colour and use. What is included in the pack? One PDf with 2 pages: one colour mat and one black and white How to use the 'ai' digraph sound mat The 'ai' digraph sound mats can be used in various ways. Here are some ways in which I use them: After having taught my pupils the 'ai' digraph, we often need to revise which words are in the 'ai' family, as opposed to other families with the same sound. Therefore we will have a mat for each sound and we will revise the sound by reading the words in each family, from the sound mat. We learn the little sentence at the bottom as it helps the children to link words in the same family together easily in their minds. I pin the colour version on the wall for easy reference as the child goes around the home/school The child can colour the black-and-white version. As the child colours, the words in the family are grouped in the child's mind. The child can then have the ai digraph word mat on his/her desk as s/he undertakes independent writing activities. Activities: In addition to the above suggestions for use, Here are some suggestions for activities that can be undertaken using the 'ai' digraph sound mat: Can the children write a silly sentence including as many words on the mat as possible? Give the children a minute to look at the mat. Then ask them to turn it over and see how many words they can remember. This activity is particularly helpful in aiding the child to sort words into their various sound families. Tip: Laminating the colour 'ai' digraph sound mat makes it more durable and stand out better on the wall. Who is the 'ai' digraph sound mat for? Teachers Parents Home-education Young learners Those with a special need Due to their non-babyish nature, they can be successfully used with older ESL/EFL pupils. Answer keys: An answer key is not needed.
