Guided Reading Level H - Clean Hands, Healthy Bodies

Guided Reading Level H - Clean Hands, Healthy Bodies
ELA, Resources for Teachers, Reading Comprehension, Reading, Health, P.E. & Health, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Special Resources, Life Skills, Science, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets, Teacher Tools, Centers, Activities, Literacy Readers, Quizzes, Quizzes and Tests, Assessments

This Guided Reading Book - Clean Hands, Healthy Bodies (Level H) includes: Guided Reading Color Label (front cover x1) This is a quick way to match the book’s demands to what students can generally handle.. The overall goal is to use the level/color to pick books for several smaller groups. To qualify for a certain level, a student is expected to read a book from that level with about 90–94% accuracy. If a student is consistently accurate and understands, move up a level. If the student is struggling at that level, drop down and add more support. Each student will improve at completely different rates, but it is generally one of the best ways to check progress across the class. DOWNLOAD THE CATALOG TO VIEW ALL GUIDED READING BOOKS AVAILABLE (SORTED LEVELS A-Z) Pre-Reading Question (x1) Teacher asks the prompt aloud, can be while showing the cover or first page. Students share what they already know, or make educated guesses from the cover. Prompt them to use the target vocabulary. Write some of their responses on the board to look back at during the reading. Vocabulary Words (x5) Introduce the five words, best doing it one at a time. Start by saying it, while students repeat and then see if anyone knows what it means before reading further. Read through the meaning and try to briefly connect each word to a picture or gesture so it’s meaningful. Ask students to flip through the book pages and point to where they see each of the vocabulary words. While reading the book pause upon coming across one of the vocab words or read the sentence twice to make sure students understand the word has appeared. Optional: Ask students to raise hands whenever they see/hear one of the new words. Guided Reading Pages (x10) Check the book snapshot (below) for: primary topic - do you need to prep extra reading or intro materials on this? what is taught best - decide on 1-2 bullets to focus on, use the prompt or words provided here for best results. learning goals - what you are checking for students to be able to do after the session, elicit answers using prompts or words provided. key vocabulary (see section above). questions overview - so you know what is coming up and if you need to prep extra materials to assist understanding. Run the lesson You may have already looked at a few of the pages together, but you can show them some of the pictures again first to set meaning. Depending on how much time you have and how familiar your students are with guided reading class, you may want to read the book aloud first with the group first. Students whisper or partner read, while you listen in. If time, do it as a group, one student reading a page each. Use the guided page’s prompts to coach: “Check the picture / does it make sense?” “Point under the words / try the first sound” “Reread the sentence smoothly”. Try to focus more on one student per session (rotating every time), so you can work out if they are ready to move up or need to move down a level. Comprehension Questions (back cover x3) This is your way to check that students didn’t just say the words, but actually understood the text. First, let students answer by pointing to the page/picture and saying a short sentence. After any answer, follow with: “Show me where you found that in the text.” In bigger groups, have partners answer first (10–20 seconds), then call on 2–3 students to share. Differentiation tips: Emerging speakers/struggling readers: oral + pointing On-level: oral in a full sentence Higher: one written sentence or draw + label Book Snapshot Title: Clean Hands, Healthy Bodies Genre: Nonfiction (informational) Subject: Health & Safety / Science Primary Topic: When and how to wash hands to stop germs Estimated Guided Reading Level (A–Z): H What This Book Teaches Best Why washing hands matters: it “keeps germs away” and helps prevent germs from spreading to other people. When to wash hands (before eating, after outdoor play, after using the toilet, after playing with a pet). How to wash hands step-by-step (wet with clean running water, use soap, scrub all areas, rinse, dry). A key procedure detail: scrubbing should last “twenty seconds” to remove germs. The idea of healthy habits: making handwashing a regular habit “protects everyone.” Learning Goals Students will explain one reason the book gives for washing hands, using a detail from the text. Students will identify at least two times the book says hands should be washed. Students will describe the steps for washing hands in order, based on the text. Students will state how long scrubbing should last, according to the book. Students will describe how handwashing helps other people, using the book’s words about spreading germs/protecting everyone. Key Vocabulary From the Text germs — tiny living things that can make you sick. contact — touching something. invisible — cannot be seen. scrub — rub hard to get something clean. protects — keeps safe from harm. Discussion Prompts Pre-reading question: When do you think it is most important to wash your hands? Comprehension questions: Name one time the book says you should wash your hands. How long should scrubbing last when you wash your hands? Why does washing your hands help other people? Printing Tips 1. Best Printing Method (Recommended) “Booklet” Printing (Best if Available) If your printer or PDF viewer supports Booklet Printing , use this. Settings to use: Print mode: Booklet Paper size: Letter or A4 (either works) Orientation: Landscape Print on both sides: Yes Flip on: Short edge Scaling: Fit to printable area Booklet subset: First test: Front sides only Then: Back sides only This will automatically: Pair pages correctly Put the cover on the outside Align everything for folding After printing, fold in half and staple along the spine . 2. If “Booklet” Printing Is NOT Available You can still print this correctly with manual duplex printing . Step-by-step: Open the PDF. Choose Print . Set: Orientation: Landscape Pages per sheet: 1 Print on both sides: Yes Flip on: Short edge Print all pages . Because each PDF page already contains two facing book pages, the result will still fold cleanly into a book. Thousands of Cored Education products are included with your TeachSimple membership. Proprioceptive Power-Ups: A Gamified Physical Therapy & Sensory

Proprioceptive Power-Ups: A Gamified Physical Therapy & Sensory
Research, Resources for Teachers, Classroom Management, Community Building, Special Resources, Life Skills, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Social Skills, Special Education Needs (SEN), Speech Therapy, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Workbooks, Worksheets, Word Searches, Teacher Tools, Assessments, Graphic Organizers, Lesson Plans, Presentations, Outlines

With Proprioceptive Power-Ups, you can turn dysregulated classrooms into focused learners. This complete, evidence-based, gamified sensory regulation program takes ‘heavy work’ and transforms it into new fun, student-led Power-Ups. The 27-page digital PDF resource is designed to provide occupational therapy, physical therapy, and real-world classroom viability for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Using Sensory Integration Theory, Self-Determination Theory (SDT), and micro-learning protocols, Proprioceptive Power-Ups provide sensory seekers with 3-5 minute ‘bursts’ of proprioceptive and vestibular input that calm those under-responding to sensations at the same time dramatically improving attention, motor planning skills, emotional regulation, and other important areas of development. The following features are provided within Proprioceptive Power-Ups: Comprehensive theoretical underpinning (neurobiology of proprioception, tripartite circuit architecture, integration within an MTSS Tier 1-3 model) 10 student workbook worksheets with fill-in-the-blank self-reflection and data tracking to complete before beginning a new series of Power-Ups. Age-divided choice board usages for example K-2 use an imagination engine; 3-5 uses a mission protocol; 6-8 uses biometric optimization. Full-color diagrams, schematics include but are not limited to: Neurological Processing Pathway; 3-Phase Sensory Circuit; Gamification Mechanics Matrix. Examples of IEP goals, tools for collecting data, and case studies demonstrating an overall reduction of 60-78% in both elopement and disruption of classroom activities as compared to pre-Proprioceptive Power-Ups implementation. Instant digital download of entire resource, no preparation required! Proprioceptive Power-Ups are ideal for teachers, occupational therapy specialists (OT), physical therapy specialists (PT), special education teachers/special instructors, and parents who are serving students with or without ADHD, developmental coordination disorder (DCD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or other classroom sensory processing disorder(s). Why Schools & Parents Are So Happy About It 1. Effectively Calms & Focuses Students: With instant self-regulation through 3–5 minutes of gamified “heavy work” activities, elopement, meltdown, and verbal disruptions have been reduced by as much as 78% in real case study examples. 2. Zero Lesson Prep but Maximum Engagement for the Students: Therapy is turned into play, through Choice Boards and avatar style Power-Ups - giving students choice and control, and saving teachers time while providing maximum engagement for the students in busy classroom settings and for kids on their IEP. 3. Evidence Based and Measured Progress: Easy access to the “whole brain” theory of neuroscience with pre/post data tracking tools and IEP goal templates providing easy documentation of progress to parents and administrators. 4. Age Appropriate From K to 8th Grade: There are differentiated stations and language to keep even the youngest kids excited about (and the oldest kids “cool” about) participating in activities in the same room without being segregated by age. 5. Proven Return On Investment: High impact proprioceptive input (replacing ineffective fidgety tools) will continue to improve time on task, enhance writing skills, and improve working/executive function without the need to sacrifice time during instruction. Target Students and Grade Levels: The resource is geared toward kindergarten through 8th grade (K-8) students. The children that will benefit from this program demonstrate an under-stimulated or dysregulated proprioceptive and vestibular system, including: Sensory Seekers (i.e., crashing, chewing, and pressing too hard); Sensory Under-Responders (i.e., lethargic, floppy, and having low muscle tone); Students with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) - Combined Type; Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD); Dyspraxia .A general education classroom using a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Tier 1 (i.e., universal brain breaks), Tier 2 (i.e., targeted small groups), and Tier 3 (i.e., Individualized Education Plan-specific on Circuit) will also utilize the program as needed. There is built-in scaffolding provided within the program through the following: narrative/imaginative play for grades K-2; challenge-based missions for grades 3-5; and more mature "biometric optimization" language for middle school (grades 6-8) to assist in securing the dignity of the adolescent population. Included in this 33-page Curriculum are the following components and resources: Phase 1: The Core Theory behind Affective, Cognitive, and Compassionate Empathy/ Supporting Material for Role Playing Phase 2: Seven Printable Student Worksheets with Real-Life Role-Playing Scenarios (Decoding Non-Verbal Cues, The Empathy Bridge, I Statement Architect, Active Listening, Peer Pressure Navigator, Apology Blueprint, Sportsmanship & Fair Play) Phase 3: Curriculum Guides, Teachers Visuals, Implementation Guide, and Answer Key This no-prep resource is designed to provide students with a real-world opportunity to transform abstract concepts into experiential learning through safe role-play and mapping experiential empathy. Therefore, all upper elementary-aged children (8-12) will develop emotional intelligence by reducing the tendency to exhibit hostile attribution bias, and practice prosocial behaviors in a low-stakes learning environment. Immediate digital download is available, and the Curriculum may be easily printed and used immediately or utilized through Google Classroom. Why Schools & Parents are Successful: Both research and classrooms prove this method produces results. The basis for these materials is experiential learning theory, mirror neuron studies, and restorative practice; there is measurable growth in empathy and resolving conflicts. You will find many ready-to-use worksheets, role-play scripts, and teacher guides to help you provide instant lessons that save you hours of planning for your classroom. This is an effective method to help your son or daughter become more emotionally intelligent, eliminate hostile attribution bias, and help them develop real-life scripts for dealing with peer pressure, making apologies, and engaging in fair play. Use this method for the whole classroom or in small groups or during counseling, and it will include different learners, multi-age groups and students with neuro-diversity. Many parents report that their children demonstrate newfound positivebehaviour at home, and schools have successfully adopted this curriculum to reduce relational aggression and meet CASEL standards. Intended target audience: Grades 3 - 6 (approximately 8 to 12 years old) are referenced in every chapter and case study/worksheet in this curriculum as being appropriate for that age range and developmental level. The other target ages of K - 2 will not be appropriate due to more advanced cognitive requirements (the second-order Theory of Mind, perspective-taking, and restorative language frameworks) and to Grades 7+ (middle school) students for their focus on upper elementary social dynamics (recess exclusion, group projects, rumor spreading, sportsmanship). Guided Reading Level H - Reading Labels and Names

Guided Reading Level H - Reading Labels and Names
ELA, Resources for Teachers, Reading Comprehension, Reading, Health, P.E. & Health, Special Resources, Life Skills, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets, Teacher Tools, Centers, Activities, Literacy Readers, Quizzes, Quizzes and Tests, Assessments

This Guided Reading Book - Reading Labels and Names (Level H) includes: Guided Reading Color Label (front cover x1) This is a quick way to match the book’s demands to what students can generally handle.. Differentiation tips: Emerging speakers/struggling readers: oral + pointing On-level: oral in a full sentence Higher: one written sentence or draw + label Book Snapshot Title: Reading Labels and Names Genre: Nonfiction (informational) Subject: Reading / Life Skills Primary Topic: Labels give facts and clues in daily life Estimated Guided Reading Level (A–Z): H What This Book Teaches Best Labels are “like a clue” that give “important information” and “facts about an object.” Labels tell what is inside or what something is (e.g., a box labeled “Orange,” a jar labeled “strawberry jam”). Labels and names help people stay organized and find the right item (a bin labeled “Toys,” a library label that says “Fiction.”). Labels can keep people safe and help them make careful choices (a sign that says “Wet Floor.”). Reading labels helps every day because labels “give facts and solve mysteries.” Learning Goals Students will explain what the book says a label is like and what it gives (clues, information, facts). Students will describe how a label tells what is inside an object using an example from the text. Students will identify how labels help keep spaces organized and clean using details from the text. Students will explain how a label can help keep people safe, using the “Wet Floor” sign example. Students will describe how names on items (like an envelope) help people know who something is for. Key Vocabulary From the Text clue — something that helps you figure something out. information — facts that help you know something. object — a thing you can see or touch. envelope — paper cover that holds a letter. mysteries — things you are trying to figure out. Discussion Prompts Pre-reading question: What labels do you notice that give you important information? Comprehension questions: What does the book say a label is like? Which label in the book helps keep the room clean? According to the book, how do labels help every day? Additionally; case studies of older adults (past PhD graduates and adults in their late 20s seeking to transition from administrative positions to logistics in the bio-tech industry) demonstrate that the resource promotes lifelong learning, investigation, and adapting to shifting technologies (e.g., AI and quantum computing). Some target classes could be the introductory college career development course; vocational training program; and adult learning/education workshops about Artificial Intelligence Ethics and skill bridging. Full of exciting topics in each installments like recognizing happiness, sadness, anger, fear, and many more, this social emotional learning middle school workbook delves deep into self-awareness, self-management tools like journaling, breathing exercises, goal setting, social awareness with a focus on empathy, body language, and cultural differences. Designed to be highly beneficial for homeschoolers, classroom teaching, or family usage, this social-emotional learning middle school curriculum not only provides exercises to handle conflicts, make friends, and enhance positive thinking but is specifically designed to help in overcoming emotional difficulties by teaching kids to be emotionally intelligent individuals throughout their lives. The introductory tone assumes basic reading skills without burdening the younger reader, while the substance in the later chapters on self-awareness and social dynamics fits well with the upper elementary levels. Uncover the amazing world of Artificial Intelligence with AI for Kids by Syed Hammad Rizvi – the best easy to read and conceptual book about what AI is for kids! This 315 page long book has no coding requirement; instead, it presents many complicated ideas such as; machine learning, algorithms, deep learning, data patterns, ethical AI & bias, quantum computing, autonomous vehicles, robotics, and The Future of AI (including the singularity and AGI) in an interesting and fun way by using many familiar analogies that can be easily understood (i.e. Lego sorting, riding a bike, master cooks). AI for Kids is perfect for kids who want to learn how Siri, Netflix recommendations, facial recognition, and ChatGPT actually work without any programming or technical knowledge! There are 151 short chapters filled with real-life examples appropriate for children, and the information in these chapters empowers children. The book can be used as a tool to create interest in STEM subjects, or as an educational resource to be used at home, school, in after-school STEM clubs, or at night before bed to build AI literacy and inspire future generations of innovators, ethicists, and thinkers! Keywords: AI, kids, artificial intelligence, machine learning simply explained, neural networks beginners, ethical AI & the future of AI, no coding AI, STEM children 8-14. Here's what Parents & Schools find appealing about this Read: - No technical overwhelm – just follow AI concepts with relatable analogies to make it easy to understand & fun for kids. - Covers every aspect of AI within 151 bite-sized chapters (history, how AI learns, applications in health care, gaming & robotics, ethics, bias, jobs of the future) – this one book replaces the need for many resources. - Build early critical thinking skills and digital citizenship skills by getting children thinking critically about AI choices, identifying biased information, and preparing children for careers related to AI. - Very versatile for classroom/homeschooling use – short chapters, discussion prompts, & real-life examples are well-suited to be used as part of lessons/projects or for independent reading. - Future-proof & aspirational – encourages children to believe they can influence AI positively, while dreaming of careers such as “AI Ethicist" or "Human-AI Team Coordinator." Target Audience (Based on Complete Analysis of Book): The title and content are explicitly created for kids, with simple formats (analogies, short chapters), questions and real-life examples being used throughout all 151 chapters (from basics at Chapter 1 to complex concepts such as singularity, quantum AI, bias, ethics and future impact in the other chapters). The content continually uses easy-to-understand language to help engage kids, even through some of the most trying sections (example of AGI: like a true thinker who could write novels and create music; bias, using the analogy of a warped photograph; and food science using the analogy of a digital chef). While the book does not provide any required ages/grades, the depth of material (differentiating between narrow/general AI, explaining XAI, discussing the predictive policing debate, interdisciplinary teams, and impact on society) and no requirement of coding make it appropriate for children age 8-14 (grades 3-8 / upper elementary and middle school). Younger children (grades 3-5) will enjoy the fun stories and introduction of subject matter, while older children (grades 6-8) will understand the ethical aspects of these technologies and their potential future career opportunities as well as understand how these technologies apply to the real world and benefit society through further learning. This book would be a good resource for homeschoolers, teachers, gifted programs and any student who has an interest in technology. It will be too basic for high school students but will provide a solid foundation and valuable supplemental material. This 43-page digital PDF contains a facilitator's guide, theory, student workbook, and teacher resources, all rolled into one. Developed with the principles of neuroscience, psychology, and the Seasonal Cyclicality Model (SCM), this social and emotional learning program for kids takes students on a series of fun, gamified, and micro-level missions aligned with Autumn (self-awareness), Winter (social observation), Spring (social skills), and Summer (responsible decision-making). This social and emotional learning program for kids, tweens, and pre-teens is perfect for parents, teachers, and counselors who want to develop the cognitive empathy, emotional intelligence, and growth mindset of middle school students. A must-have for middle school emotional intelligence development, bullying prevention, and classroom community building. Instant download. Keywords: SEL curriculum for 4th to 7th grade, empathy workbook for middle school, social and emotional learning activities, tween emotional intelligence development, neuroscience-based SEL program. Why Parents/Schools Love It: Neuroscience-Based: Fuses the power of brain science with the ease of using Micro-Missions to develop empathy as a "muscle" that grows with repetition, creating a lifelong tool for children without overwhelming them. Seasonal Format: Utilizes the power of seasonal themes and activities to eliminate social anxiety issues with a "game" approach to SEL that integrates easily into the school year or home schedule. Comprehensive Resources Included: Provides facilitator guides, student worksheets, case studies, images, and teacher keys in one convenient PDF format for quick and effective implementation with proven results such as improved conflict resolution and self-regulation. Universal and Adaptable: Includes protocols for working with children who have experienced trauma, those with neurodiverse needs, and applications for real-world issues such as bullying, making it effective for a wide range of classrooms and promoting a sense of community. Proven Results through Real-Life Case Studies: Includes real-life examples of how children move from isolation to connection, giving parents and educators the power to see the impact on children's social skills and decisions. Target Classes/Students : After a thorough analysis of the entire content presented in the PDF, from the introduction to the chapters, case studies, worksheets, and teacher resources, the content is clearly targeted at students from grade 4 through grade 7 (approximately 9-13 years old). This is consistent with the "middle years" concept presented throughout the content, which covers neurological developments such as prefrontal cortex restructuring, synaptic pruning, and the progression from Erik Erikson's Industry vs. Inferiority stage to the Identity vs. Role Confusion stage. For example, grade 4 community projects, grade 5 integrations into the classroom, grade 6 self-awareness interventions, and grade 7 conflict resolutions. The content is applicable for homeschoolers, classrooms in public/private schools, after-school programs, and counseling sessions for the target age group, with modifications for neurodiverse students with ASD or NVLD. Immediate learning and long term benefit – Students develop ongoing skills in emotional granularity, boundary setting, and regulating their nervous system while parents and schools experience decreased levels of anxiety and increased levels of focus. Intended Students: Students in Grades 9-12 only. All the examples, case studies, language, and content are created specifically for high school students (ages 14-18) who are dealing with academic pressures, social media, peer group dynamics, forming their identity, and normal neurodevelopmental changes in the developing teenage brain. Mindfulness for Exam Stress – Focused Attention Worksheets

Mindfulness for Exam Stress – Focused Attention Worksheets
Life Skills, Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Social Skills, Special Education Needs (SEN), Speech Therapy, STEM, Resources for Teachers, Classroom Management, Community Building, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Worksheets & Printables, Workbooks, Worksheets, Word Searches, Teacher Tools, Assessments, Lesson Plans, Presentations, Quizzes and Tests, Tests

A complete 40-page workbook to promote the use of mindfulness and learn how to manage exam stress using neuroscience-based methods. This workbook includes clear theoretical concepts (e.g., "Amygdala Hijacking", "Working Memory Bottleneck", "Default Mode Network versus Task Positive Network") paired with a total of 10 student worksheets, 3 visually appealing colored models for use throughout the course, an answer key that shows all answers for the worksheets and a teacher guide to implementation. In addition to theory, there are practical tools to help the student manage their stress level and perform well on assessments. Practical tools include: Cognitive Defusion (to eliminate the "failure script" you tell yourself), using Somatic Mapping and micro-interventions (e.g., Physiological Sigh, 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding, Box Breathing), using the POP (Pause, Observe, Proceed) method to eliminate "blanks" on assessments, utilizing pre-test mental rehearsal and post-test decompression exercises. This workbook is perfect for use in the classroom, individual counseling sessions, study skills programs, or home schooling. It is available for immediate digital download, and can be printed from your computer or used in your digital course materials with no preparation needed. These strategies have been researched and proven to effectively lower levels of test anxiety and provide access to your working memory when under pressure to perform. Reasons Parents and Schools Love this Product: Science-based methods that help students calm themselves when they take exams through teaching them how to control their brains instead of just telling them to calm themselves down. No preparation required on the part of teachers with regard to having materials like worksheets, visuals, answer keys, and an implementation guide to use immediately in their classrooms or with students who need support. Helps develop true resilience by teaching students ways to cope with anxiety over a lifetime rather than relying on temporary motivation techniques. All micro-interventions available through this product can be done without being seen or heard, therefore making it more conducive to use during exam time. Very easy for both parents and counselors to understand how to use the micro-interventions in a way that they will get maximum benefit from doing so; great for SEL programs, study skills classes, or using at home. Intended Readers : The target audience for this resource is students who belong to the ages of 12-16 (Grades 7-10). The research case studies were conducted with 7th grade (ADHD/test anxiety), 8th grade, 9th grade and 10th grade (AP Biology) students. The resource sections of the Teacher Implementation Guide focus on the students themselves as they relate to their neurodevelopmental stage (middle and early high school). This resource is perfect for middle school (Grades 7-8) and early high school (Grades 9-10) students, who are preparing for any number of major exams, standardized exams and high stakes assessments (i.e., any subject). Not intended for elementary students (too difficult) or late high school/college students (the language and examples were written specifically for the adolescent population).
