If you are an art teacher, I am sure you are always on the hunt for new and engaging activity lessons for your art students. You want to make sure students have meaningful lessons that they can learn from and output knowledge simultaneously. This resource fits right in! This is a Pottery Lesson for students to take part in. The objective of this lesson is for students to learn about different types of pottery and then be able to create their coil pot. This is a resource that can be incorporated into an art class for middle school or high school students. It is a 22-slide PowerPoint that begins with showing students 3 different YouTube videos to expose them to 3 types of pottery: -Wheel Throwing -Pinch Pot -Coil Pot Students will be given their assignment on the next slide: Students will be creating their own coil pot using appropriate coil pottery techniques with a focus on form, texture, color, and value. This lesson will only be working on building their pot and can focus on painting another day. There are a variety of topics to follow once the assignment description is given to ensure students are prepared for the task. The topics included are: -Texture -Form -Color -Value For each topic, there is a brief description along with a visual example. That will be followed by 3 questions per each topic. The PowerPoint will conclude by giving students 8 steps to create their coil pot. A success criterion is included. I hope you enjoy!
