Entrepreneurship Market Reflection Writing Activity for Kids
ELA, Writing, Creative Writing, Grammar, Life Skills, Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Social Skills, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
Getting kids to enjoy writing during the early elementary years is key. One way we can do that is to tie in their interests to the writing process. Business skills encapsulate so many other life skills: resilience, creativity, public speaking, financial literacy, and more! By taking the time to reflect on their experience, young entrepreneurs can continue to refine their business skills for the next fair. Thinking about the way we think is a foundational skill for growing the executive functions our kiddos will use in the editing process. For this reason, a short checklist has been included at the end of page 4 so that learners can begin to go back and check their work. This key skill in developing healthy executive functioning is intentionally made visible to students to prompt ownership over the quality of their writing. STANDARDS: Meets CCSS Writing standards for grades 2-5. Don't forget to check out the Chef's Toolbox, Superhero's Toolbox, and Astronaut's Toolbox activities for more fun! These activities can be used with a whole class in addition to the writing challenge printable. This printable is optimal for 2nd-5th graders as they continue to develop solid writing skills, but could use some support and scaffolding to do it. By using the included matrix to choose the setting, challenge, and solution in their story, they'll use the freedom afforded them to create something they love. BONUS: Take advantage of the 4 extension activity ideas included in this printable. These activities will take their writing beyond the page and bring it to life in STEAM-supported outlets. What you'll get: a 4 page PDF including instructions, extension activity ideas, and 3 student pages. One of these pages is simply writing space for you to print off as many copies as you need based on the amount your students are writing. You'll also find the editing checklist to prompt students to edit their own work for spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.

Narrative Writing Workshop
ELA, Writing, Grade 2, 3, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
Students love to tell stories - especially about themselves! Helping students learn how to put these stories in a well-organized format can prove challenging for them from time to time. Because of that, we want to be intentional about what lessons we are teaching and how engaging we are making these lessons. The more specific and step-by-step we can make the process, the better. This is a Narrative Writing Workshop that was designed for 2nd and 3rd grade students following the Common Core standards for narrative writing. In this packet you will find everything you will need to help your students complete beautiful personal narratives based on their own experiences. It includes steps for a prewrite, a first draft, proofreading and editing, an example of a finished narrative, a final draft, and a review of dialogue and how to write it. (I also used a wonderful dialogue bundle created by Teacher Treehouse, which I highly recommend for practice.) There is also paper for the prewrite and final draft. This workshop took me about 4 days to complete, using the time we would usually reserve for our reading program – about an hour to an hour and a half every day. If you have time at the end, it’s fun to see how they illustrate their narratives and/or give them an opportunity to type their narratives on the computer. If you can print them out - even better! You could even compile all the narratives into a book for the students to enjoy in their free time! I hope you enjoy! Colour Bluebells
Creative Arts, Art, Science, Life Sciences, Nature & Plants, Grade 1, 2, 3, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
Here is a picture of Bluebells for children to colour this spring! Who is this colouring picture of Bluebells for? Anybody. Older children will extend the activity further than younger ones, Uses for these colouring sheets Use to help children learn the name of the Bluebell and to recognise them. Use as part of a science lesson Use for a basis for collage work Paint or colour. Use to make greetings cards It is best if children colour the Bluebells picture following close observation, or from reference books, or after having looked at Bluebells in real life. Do remind children not to pick them! What is included in the pack? 1 sheet to be coloured 1 sheet giving an example of how the Bluebells could be coloured. The study of the natural world is the foundation for the later study of science. The colouring of pictures of natural things, be it plants or animals is more than a pastime activity. It is a means of familiarising young children with these everyday subjects. The colouring of this Daffodil picture can of course be used as a pastime, or even as part of a creative lesson - the picture looks super made into a spring greeting card of all kinds. But it has the potential to teach much more. The UK National Curriculum for Science expects children to be taught to use the local environment to study plants and animals, throughout the year. What better than to use familiar subjects - such as Bluebells, which are so common in springtime, to teach much about the natural world? Colouring can help children to become familiar with the parts of the Bluebell: ask questions: Where are the petals? What is this part called? Colouring a picture of Bluebell can also help children to become familiar with the particular characteristics of a flower - its shape, colour, and special features, for example.
