Mathematics Binder Covers – Templates for Classroom Use Organize your Math handouts, notes, and units with visual clarity Simple and flexible templates to help organize your Mathematics materials In my math classes, it can be a challenge to keep things organized - especially when it comes to multiple units, lab notes, worksheets and review materials. To make it easier for my students and myself, I designed these simple binder sleeves. There are 12 different pages. The covers have a clean, colorful blob layout that is friendly but not distracting. I usually print them out and use them as cover sheets or as dividers in folders for students or teachers. They also work well for digital learning environments, e.g. as section covers in PDF files or on classroom platforms. I like that the color scheme allows students to quickly find what they are looking for, and it brings a little more structure to a subject that is often riddled with formulas and technical terms. When used as cover sheets, students can choose their favorite color for their cover sheet. This resource is handy - and has saved me a lot of time in lesson preparation and follow-up. This fun math project includes clear step-by-step instructions to show your students how to make a circle graph. This is a great way to review several math skills while showing how useful they can be! Tasks include: - Writing a survey question: Your students learn to write a question that has exactly six possible answers. - Collecting data: Your students can ask the members of your class their question. They collect data using a tally chart. They need to ask exactly 25 people. - Recording results as a fraction: Once they have their data, they can turn each answer into a fraction with a denominator of 25. - Calculating an equivalent fraction: Then, they calculate an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 100. - Working with percent (written as a decimal): Finally, they turn that fraction into a percent in decimal form. They use this percent to multiply by 360 degrees in a circle (they can use a calculator for this part) to find out how many degrees each answer gets. - Drawing angles with a protractor: They carefully draw the six angles in their pie chart, one by one. - Labeling a graph: They label the graph to make it clear for others to read. Grades to Use WIth: This math project works well in the middle grades (4-8) when students know how to use protractors, calculate with fractions and decimals, and make graphs. It could also work well in a high school special education classroom. Math Mini Unit: Converting Scores into Percentages This ready-to-print booklet is a real world math tool for teachers of grades 5-8. The activities inside let students practice and apply their knowledge of percentages, decimals, and fractions practically: to convert their test and assignment scores to a common denominator of 100 so that they can easily compare their learning and growth across several tasks. I find that my students love learning this skill: it makes them feel mature and gives them ownership over their learning. How to Use: This 8-page booklet guides students to calculate their scores as percentages, offering them an interesting hands-on experience in crunching numbers. The mini-unit features various problem-solving methods supported by detailed visuals, explanatory notes, practice questions, and partner-focused activities. The content ranges from dealing with equivalent fractions with easily convertible denominators (10, 20, 25) to complex conversions involving more than one-step. Dividing the numerator by the denominator is also explored as a strategy to use with ANY test score. I go through the pages of the booklet with my students over several classes. This engaging middle or high school personal financial literacy lesson lets your students in 7th through 12th grade work with 3 realistic budgets. In each budget scenario, they will find a budget dilemma (ranging from overspending to paying for house repairs to a getting a bill for a health problem) and use their math skills to balance the budget . What’s Included: 9-Page PDF: Ready to Print and Use! 6 budgeting worksheets for 3 realistic situations: A single employee who is overspending each month A family of 3 who have an unplanned home repair A university student who is facing a health issue A complete answer key is also included so there is no guesswork! How to Use: 1. Print six pages of worksheets for your students. 2. Go through the budget included on the first page. Have your students total the spending (by hand or with a calculator). 3. On page two, students will determine if the person is spending more than they make or saving extra money each month, and how much. 4. Then, students will work to try to balance the budget. They will have to reduce spending in some categories. A new budget spreadsheet is provided to be used. This task is open-ended as there are endless ways to make the budget balance. You can provide constraints if you wish, such as reducing the spending in at least two different spending categories. 5. After the final dilemma, students can write a reflection about what they learned about budgeting by completing these activities. 6.
