It’s the perfect excuse to get creative and colorful. These Thanksgiving Writing Prompts make writing less of a chore and more of a festive celebration. Unleash your inner superhero this Thanksgiving with the My Thanksgiving Superpower Writing Prompt! This fun and festive activity invites kids to imagine what kind of superpower they’d wield during Thanksgiving, because let’s face it, we all need a little extra help when it comes to surviving the holiday season. First, students will write about their Thanksgiving superpower. Would they have the ability to instantly teleport to the front of the food line (no shame in that)? Or perhaps the superpower to make endless mashed potatoes appear with just a snap of their fingers? Maybe they’d have the power to make every family member’s laugh contagious (or the uncanny ability to avoid doing the dishes). The possibilities are as limitless as second helpings of pie! Once the writing is done, the creative fun continues with a drawing. Kids will illustrate themselves in full superhero gear, cape, mask, and maybe even a gravy boat in hand. It’s the perfect opportunity to show off their artistic talents, whether their superpower involves saving the day or just saving some room for dessert. This activity combines imagination, writing, and humor, all wrapped up in a Thanksgiving turkey-shaped cape! It’s the perfect way to give thanks for the fun (and funny) things that make the holiday extra special. Enjoy!

Get ready to gobble up some creativity with the Thanksgiving Traditions Writing Prompt! This fun and festive activity gets kids thinking about what makes their Thanksgiving celebrations uniquely theirs, whether it’s a feast fit for royalty or a day spent dodging burnt stuffing disasters. Writing and drawing take center stage in this perfect blend of reflection and hilarity. First, students will dive into their family’s traditions. Do they watch football with a side of pie? Go on a turkey trot that’s more “stroll” than “run”? Or perhaps their family’s tradition involves grandma’s famous sweet potato casserole (with a marshmallow topping so high it needs its own zip code). Kids will craft their best descriptive writing, sharing the quirks, laughs, and delicious details of their Thanksgiving Day. Next comes the artistic twist! Students will illustrate their favorite tradition. Whether it’s a turkey-shaped centerpiece, a chaotic kitchen scene, or Uncle Bob snoozing in front of the TV with pumpkin pie crumbs, these drawings bring their stories to life. This activity isn’t just about celebrating Thanksgiving traditions, it’s about discovering what makes the holiday truly special: food, family, and enough laughs to stuff your heart as full as your plate! Enjoy!

You know that feeling when December hits and suddenly your teenager is more interested in hot chocolate than sentence structure? Yeah, me too. Last year, I spent way too many mornings fighting with my eigth-grader about grammar while she stared longingly at the twinkling lights on our Christmas tree. That is when it hit me – why was I making this harder than it needed to be? Instead of battling the season, I decided to embrace it. These 2025 December ELA Bell Ringers were born from pure desperation and a strong cup of coffee on a particularly challenging December morning. I needed something that would actually hold my daughter's attention while still covering the ELA skills she needed to practice. Turns out, when you wrap grammar fixes in winter themes and poetry analysis in holiday spirit, teenagers suddenly find English a lot more interesting. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: NO-PREP time-saving resource that is ready to print and go. 23 December activities your students/homeschoolers will actually enjoy. Grammar, creative writing, vocabulary, poetry, and literary analysis all in one. Winter and holiday themes that will keep your students/homeschoolers engaged. TOPICS COVERED: Grammar that doesn't feel like punishment. Creative writing that sparks imagination. Vocabulary that goes beyond memorization. Poetry without the intimidation factor. After three years of using and tweaking these activities in my own homeschool, I can honestly say they have become one of my December must-haves. My daughter actually asks for the creative writing prompts now (miracle of miracles). The grammar components have become our go-to review when I notice her slipping back into old habits, and the vocabulary work has strengthened her writing in ways I didn't expect. Whether you are looking for that perfect December learning balance, need emergency lesson plans when life gets crazy, or want activities that actually make your teenager think (and maybe even smile), these 2025 December ELA Bell Ringers have become the swiss army knife of my homeschool supplies. Sometimes the best resources are the ones that solve problems you didn't even know you had. If you and your students/homeschoolers enjoyed this resource, please leave a review. Roll up your sleeves (and maybe pass the gravy) with the Helping Hands Writing Prompt! This Thanksgiving activity encourages kids to think about how they can lend a hand, without accidentally dropping the turkey. Writing and drawing come together in this heartwarming and hilarious project that showcases the many ways we can help others during the holiday season. First, kids will reflect on all the ways they’ve been helpful, or could be helpful, this Thanksgiving. Will they set the table without sneak-eating the rolls? Offer to do the dishes instead of disappearing into a pumpkin pie coma? Or maybe their “helping hands” involve cheering up a cranky relative with a joke about turkeys crossing the road. Whatever their helping superpower, it’s time to put it into words. Next, the artistic fun begins! Kids will draw their very own “helping hands,” complete with doodles of their Thanksgiving good deeds. Add in some colorful crayons, markers, or glitter (if you dare), and these hands will be ready to hang on the fridge, the classroom wall, or right next to the dessert table for everyone to admire. Perfect for inspiring gratitude, creativity, and just a touch of turkey humor, this activity is all about making Thanksgiving more special, one helping hand at a time! Enjoy!

Christmas Speech Bubble Writing Prompts | Creative Writing Packet | Emerging Writer Activity This innovative educational tool provides a fun and easy way for young learners to explore their creative writing while celebrating the spirit of Christmas. It has been specifically designed for new writers, using vibrant visual prompts to stimulate imagination and creative thoughts. To begin the activity, students select from a variety of festive pictures or curate their own mini-book of prompt choices. They then discuss and dissect the stories unfolding in each scenario before plunging into the writing process to pen unique character dialogues. These conjectured conversations are written into blank speech bubbles serving as expression spaces. Following this dialogue crafting process, there's an opportunity for further practice in adding an informative or descriptive sentence related to each picture under teacher guidance—an excellent technique for learning how to weave narratives around visual cues. The product includes: Five Christmas-themed speech bubble writing prompts featuring lively scenarios like Santa devouring cookies, getting stuck in a chimney, a star slipping off from atop a Christmas tree, children busily wrapping presents or interacting gingerbread men. Two open templates that allow creativity abound with students sketching out personalized illustrations complete with dialogues. This resource is an effective tool for educators and homeschooled parents teaching Grade 1-3 children about holiday themes focused on Christmas traditions. It offers an effortless blend of skill development with holiday cheer! Note: These creatively engaging prompts can be used either as whole-class instruction or small group activity—or even homework assignments! They inject fun into learning while helping hesitant writers surpass fear of expression—all while honing language arts skills even amongst confident writers—a truly efficacious asset! A word of caution: Have plenty paper ready because once your budding wordsmiths get immersed in the vibrant world inside these speech bubbles, they'll definitely ask for more!

As a fellow homeschool mom to a 9th grader, I know writing assignments need to feel meaningful — which is exactly why I created A Season to Write: Holiday Reflection Prompts Bundle . This A Season to Write: Holiday Reflection Prompts Bundle is a rich mix of creative, reflective, and analytical writing, encouraging students/homeschoolers to explore not just what happens during a holiday, but what it truly means to them by reflecting on memory, culture, and sensory experiences. I have designed it to balance structure with freedom, ensuring your student/homeschooler learns to write with both their intellect and emotion, developing clarity, organization, and—most importantly—their own authentic voice. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: 50 engaging, multi-genre holiday writing prompts Comprehensive note-taking & brainstorming sheets. Full writing rubric for simple grading and growth tracking. NO-PREP, ready-to-print for instant use. TOPICS COVERED: Full seasonal coverage: Halloween through New Year. Cultural, emotional, and historical analysis of traditions. A Season to Write: Holiday Reflection Prompts Bundle transforms seasonal writing into a meaningful journey of self-discovery and skill-building, empowering students to write with confidence, explore their emotions, and truly understand the deeper significance of the holidays they experience. I designed this resource because I know we're not just preparing our kids for exams—we're preparing them for life, helping them think critically, write persuasively, and express authentically. By connecting emotion, memory, and academic thought in every prompt, learners build a strong foundation that will serve them well in college and beyond, sharpening their minds while always encouraging them to write from the heart.
