Turn Thanksgiving nostalgia into a creative masterpiece with the A Special Thanksgiving Memory Writing Prompt! This activity invites kids to stroll down memory lane (or at least last year’s kitchen chaos) to write and draw about their favorite Thanksgiving moment. Whether it’s Grandma’s famous pumpkin pie, a hilarious turkey mishap, or the time Uncle Joe fell asleep mid-sentence, no memory is too big or small to make the cut. First, students will put their storytelling hats on, probably stretchy ones to accommodate post-Thanksgiving feast bellies, and write about a memory that makes them smile, laugh, or even drool a little. Was it the parade, a backyard football game, or sneaking the first bite of dessert? This writing prompt gets their creative juices flowing faster than cranberry sauce out of a can. Once the words are on the page, it’s time to bring the memory to life with a colorful drawing. Turkeys with personality, pies with sparkle, and family portraits (possibly featuring stick figures) turn the story into a visual masterpiece. This activity isn’t just fun, it’s a great way for kids to practice descriptive writing and reflect on what makes Thanksgiving truly special. Bonus: it’s calorie-free, but just as satisfying as a second helping of stuffing! Enjoy!

You know that feeling when December hits and suddenly your teenager is more interested in hot chocolate than sentence structure? Yeah, me too. Last year, I spent way too many mornings fighting with my eigth-grader about grammar while she stared longingly at the twinkling lights on our Christmas tree. That is when it hit me – why was I making this harder than it needed to be? Instead of battling the season, I decided to embrace it. These 2025 December ELA Bell Ringers were born from pure desperation and a strong cup of coffee on a particularly challenging December morning. I needed something that would actually hold my daughter's attention while still covering the ELA skills she needed to practice. Turns out, when you wrap grammar fixes in winter themes and poetry analysis in holiday spirit, teenagers suddenly find English a lot more interesting. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: NO-PREP time-saving resource that is ready to print and go. 23 December activities your students/homeschoolers will actually enjoy. Grammar, creative writing, vocabulary, poetry, and literary analysis all in one. Winter and holiday themes that will keep your students/homeschoolers engaged. TOPICS COVERED: Grammar that doesn't feel like punishment. Creative writing that sparks imagination. Vocabulary that goes beyond memorization. Poetry without the intimidation factor. After three years of using and tweaking these activities in my own homeschool, I can honestly say they have become one of my December must-haves. My daughter actually asks for the creative writing prompts now (miracle of miracles). The grammar components have become our go-to review when I notice her slipping back into old habits, and the vocabulary work has strengthened her writing in ways I didn't expect. Whether you are looking for that perfect December learning balance, need emergency lesson plans when life gets crazy, or want activities that actually make your teenager think (and maybe even smile), these 2025 December ELA Bell Ringers have become the swiss army knife of my homeschool supplies. Sometimes the best resources are the ones that solve problems you didn't even know you had. If you and your students/homeschoolers enjoyed this resource, please leave a review. Get ready to rake up some gratitude with the Thankful Tree Writing Prompt! This Thanksgiving activity combines creativity and reflection to create a heartfelt masterpiece, and no actual leaves will clog your yard. Perfect for kids who are full of thanks (and maybe a little too much turkey), this activity invites them to write and draw about the people, things, and snacks they’re most grateful for. The fun starts with crafting their very own Thankful Tree. Each "leaf" becomes a blank canvas for kids to jot down what warms their hearts, like family, friends, and possibly an unhealthy obsession with mac and cheese. Once the writing’s done, it’s time to branch out with some drawing! Students can add colorful flair to their trees, turning their gratitude into an autumnal work of art. This activity is ideal for classrooms or as a family bonding moment that doesn’t involve fighting over the remote. By the end, kids will have a beautiful Thankful Tree they’ll be proud to display, and you’ll have a little peace and quiet, at least until dessert. Fun, festive, and packed with good vibes, this writing prompt is a must-have for spreading gratitude (and maybe sneaking in a little spelling practice). Let’s get thankful! Enjoy!

Get ready to gobble up some creativity with the Thanksgiving Traditions Writing Prompt! This fun and festive activity gets kids thinking about what makes their Thanksgiving celebrations uniquely theirs, whether it’s a feast fit for royalty or a day spent dodging burnt stuffing disasters. Writing and drawing take center stage in this perfect blend of reflection and hilarity. First, students will dive into their family’s traditions. Do they watch football with a side of pie? Go on a turkey trot that’s more “stroll” than “run”? Or perhaps their family’s tradition involves grandma’s famous sweet potato casserole (with a marshmallow topping so high it needs its own zip code). Kids will craft their best descriptive writing, sharing the quirks, laughs, and delicious details of their Thanksgiving Day. Next comes the artistic twist! Students will illustrate their favorite tradition. Whether it’s a turkey-shaped centerpiece, a chaotic kitchen scene, or Uncle Bob snoozing in front of the TV with pumpkin pie crumbs, these drawings bring their stories to life. This activity isn’t just about celebrating Thanksgiving traditions, it’s about discovering what makes the holiday truly special: food, family, and enough laughs to stuff your heart as full as your plate! Enjoy!

hristmas Writing Prompts with Word Bank - Christmas Creative Writing
Creative Writing, Writing, ELA, Christmas, Holidays, Holiday & Seasonal, Winter, Seasons, Grade 2, 3, 4, Writing Prompts, Worksheets & Printables
I created this Christmas writing prompts activity for young students who are developing their early writing skills. Each page includes a simple, holiday-themed prompt paired with a helpful word bank to support spelling and idea generation. The layouts are clear and uncluttered, making it easy for students to focus on writing without feeling overwhelmed. This type of activity works well during the weeks leading up to Christmas when students enjoy seasonal topics that keep them engaged. It can be used during writing lessons, as a literacy center, for morning work, or as a quiet independent task. I’ve used similar writing prompts before, and students feel more confident expressing their ideas when they have a word bank to guide them. The pack is easy to print and works well in both color and black-and-white. It fits nicely into classroom routines and can also be used at home for extra writing practice. What’s included: 10 printable Christmas writing prompt pages Word banks included on each page for writing support Festive holiday-themed prompts Kid-friendly page layouts and illustrations Suitable for grades 1–3 Great for individual, partner, or small-group work

Christmas Counting 1-10 - Coloring Worksheets and Learning Numbers
Holiday & Seasonal, Christmas, Holidays, Counting, Early Math, Math, Numbers, Homeschool Curriculum, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Worksheets & Printables, Coloring Pages, Worksheets, Writing Prompts
Beautiful Christmas Backgrounds make these simple counting numbers special. Not only can you give your pre-readers these worksheets to color on their own, but you can also teach them or reinforce counting from 1-10. The objective of these worksheets is to make math fun during the Christmas season. The bright red and green backgrounds will brighten up the dreary days of school and help them to stay focused. Coloring is fun for most children, and they can take these home to color and/or give them as gifts. The teacher can use the finished coloring pages to decorate the classroom as well. The recommended age for the 10 counting and coloring sheets is early learning and up. These worksheets are also appropriate for special needs students and pre-readers. Education standards including early math counting and recognition of numbers in spelled out and number form are met. There are 10 pages of worksheets in pdf format which can be downloaded and printed as well as copied on a copy machine. This is a basic counting numbers and coloring worksheets activity pack, but it does include a directions page to help the teacher explain what the students need to do. Though the pages contain words to read, the teacher/parent can read the pages as well as direct the children on what they are supposed to do.
