Bears and B-Words: Full Day Substitute Plans

For Emergent Readers Grades K-1
These activities are ready to copy and go, without need for the sub to read lengthy directions. Explanations for students and for the sub are incorporated as scripts which headline some but not all worksheets. The only equipment your sub needs is a copy machine; the only supplies your kids need are pencils, crayons, scissors, and glue.
Bears and B-Words Includes:
Morning and afternoon messages;
Independent reader response papers for small group and/or independent reading;
Add and subtract problems/fill in bear picture;
Cut out bears to "fall off the bed" subtraction practice;
Read and write 9 B words
Match picture to word;
Label pictures;
Match picture to sentence;
Copy sentences;
Guided reading about polar bears, black bears, brown bears
Make a Bear book;
Cut out words to form sentences (previously practiced during the day);
Write new sentences and draw pictures to match;
Coloring page of polar bear;
Activities grid showing description of activity; suggested variations; materials needed; and Common Core Standards applied
