About This Product
Halloween Budget Activity: Elementary Financial Literacy
This educational tool is designed to teach financial literacy skills to your elementary school students in grades three to six. As a hands-on introduction to budgeting, this activity helps students understand how money management works from an early age. Blending math and life skills, you can integrate this lesson during the Halloween season as a thematic math lesson!
The activity requires knowledge of basic math operations such as addition and subtraction up to the hundreds and hundredths, suitable for learners between third grade through sixth-grade. Students will create a Halloween budget plan, think about their money source, decide what items they want to buy, and estimate the cost of each item.
A Fun, Interactive Approach to Learning
In an engaging exercise, students are prompted to explore flyers or shop online for the the prices of their needed items. They can find the perfect costume at their local Halloween pop-up shop or decide to spend some of their budget to visit their town's haunted house or pumpkin patch!
The task challenges them not only to shop for deals, but also stick within their preset budget - an essential life skill!
Reflection Time After Completion
A space has been assigned for students' reflection after they've completed their budgets. This prompts deeper comprehension while simultaneously making room for group discussions related to budgeting. There is also room for students to draw their ideal Halloween costume as a fun extension!
Fits Various Teaching Methods

Solving problems collectively in small groups? Absolutely!
Giving it as homework assignment? That's feasible too!
