About This Product
Liam and the House of Five Feelings is a short story about a boy named Liam who "walks through" a house with five rooms: happy, sad, angry, scared and calm. After reading the story, students talk about what is happening to them, what they feel, and what might help them. The resource is designed for Grades 3–5 and can be used during morning meeting, class meeting or counseling. The pack includes the story about Liam for read-aloud or small-group reading, question pages for the text, a simple reading check, and pages where students create their own "feelings house" and write or draw what is inside it. There is also a creative task about a new “feeling room,”, several short school situations for role-play, a one week "feelings passport", and black and-white coloring pages that can be used during lessons or in a calm corner. Everything can be printed and used right away, with very little prep. You can use the pack in different ways. If it іs just one lesson, the teacher reads the story and occasionally asks simple questions such as, "Which room is Liam in right now"? After reading, you can choose a few pages to work with: the comprehension questions, the "My Feelings House" page or a coloring page. If you have more time, you can spread the resource over several days: each day you focus on one "feeling room", reread the part you need, and complete one or two tasks. The activities are easy to adapt: students who find writing difficult can do more drawing and oral answers, while those who are ready for more can do extra writing, short entries about their own feelings, or a calm group discussion.
