About This Product
This is a fun, interactive Powerpoint to teach children to sequence numbers, and count backwards from 5 to 0. It is based on an anonymous rhyme:
Five little fishes swimming near the shore,
One swam away and there there were ...?
Four little fishes swimming out to sea,
One met a shark and then there were...?
Original hand-drawn pictures make this PowerPoint a delight for all.
Who is it for?
Young children will be charmed by the bright colourful fishes, the shark and the rhyme and they will not realise they are learning!
older children with special needs will not think this is too babyish for them!
How to use this counting backward PowerPoint
Use in slideshow mode. Always click when you are ready to progress to the next slide.
Full instructions are provided. Words in red are to be spoken aloud.
Counting slides: the correct answers spin, and the wrong answers pulse.
Do practice before doing the activity with your children.
Here is an example:
Slide 1: Click when ready to start.
Slide 2: Click once to make each fish appear. Have the children count them as they appear and click again to show the number ‘5’.
Five little fishes, swimming near the shore,
Slide 3: One swam away and then there were ….How many?
Slide 4 : That’s right, FOUR! Four little fishes swimming out to sea, one met a shark!... (Click for one fish to disappear.)
And then there were……
Slide 5: …three! Three little fishes wondering what to do, One hid in a great big shell... (Click once for the fish to disappear ‘into’ the shell.)
