Plants Science Center
The Plants Science Center is a teaching resource designed specifically to enhance the learning experience of preschool through 3rd grade students. This tool focuses on key areas such as visual discrimination, sorting observations, nonstandard measurement, and expressing thoughts through writing and drawing. The kit is centered around understanding plants in a fun and engaging manner.
This ready-to-use center includes seven different activities:
Build a Garden
encourages learners to visualize roots below the soil by placing magnet plants onto a garden template.
Plant Observation: students classify plants by various features or select one vegetable for detailed examination and documentation.
Not Like the Others: makes children identify differences in pictorial representations.
Seed Journal: invites them to chart their plant's growth over time.
Vegetable Measurement: introduces nonstandard units of measurements with life-sized vegetable cards that learners can measure using connecting cubes or other items.
Plant Parts Sorting Cards: kids categorize food items according to which part of the plant we eat (e.g., potatoes as root or celery as stem). The set also comes with relevant supplements like "Plants We Eat" bulletin board title, five food accent circles etc.
