About This Product
Polygons, Congruent, Regular, and Non-Polygons: Integrated Math and Art Lesson
Do you need to teach your class about polygons, non-polygons, regular polygons, and congruent polygons in a collaborative, fun, and hands-on way? Do you need a fresh lesson to add to your textbook geometry unit in the 3rd to 6th grade? Do you love incorporating art into math? Well this product is for you!
This interactive product includes a ready-to-present 10-page Powerpoint that is meant to be presented to your whole class as a guided lesson. There are definitions and activities on the slides. I encourage my students ad give them time to take notes of the definitions in their math notebooks as they follow along.
After your students have learned the key differences between polygons, non-polygons, regular polygons, and congruent polygons, they will get to work cooperatively in small groups to design and make a colourful art project to showcase their knowledge.
The creative opportunities here are endless! Plus, you will end up with several beautiful pieces of art to decorate the bulletin boards in your classroom!
All that you need to have on hand is construction paper (black, orange, pink, blue, and green), scissors, and glue sticks.
What's Included:
A total of 10 PowerPoint slides about identifying different kinds of shapes and including instructions and samples for the art project.
Grades to Use With:
This project is designed for students in grades 3-6: whenever you are teaching them about sorting shapes, shape attributes, congruency, and regular polygons!
