About This Product

Skip counting is a fundamental part of math curricula worldwide, usually introduced in kindergarten and extended through the equivalent of 2nd or 3rd grade in the Common Core standards.

Skip counting serves multiple purposes:

  • Pattern Recognition: With skip counting, students learn to identify patterns in numbers.

  • Efficient Counting: Instead of counting objects one by one, students can group items together, which speeds up the counting process.

  • Skip counting is widely recognized as an introduction to multiplication and division. It demonstrates the concept of repeated addition, which is the basis of multiplication.

  • Understanding Division through Skip Counting. In addition to supporting multiplication, skip counting lays the groundwork for understanding division through repeated subtraction.

Skip Counting Intervals : Options include counting by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10.

Numerical ranges

  • 1 to 100 (sometimes extending beyond)

  • 1 to 500

  • 1 to 1000

Starting Points of Sequences

Students can begin their skip counting from different points, including:

  • Zero (for the 1 to 100 range)

  • A multiple of the skip counting number

  • A random number

For instance, if you're skip counting by 3, you have six options:

- Range 1 to 100, beginning at zero

- Range 1 to 100, beginning with a random number

- Range to 500, beginning with a multiple of 3

- Range to 500, beginning with a random number

- Range to 1000, beginning with a multiple of 3

- Range to 1000, beginning with a random number

This pattern continues for all skip counting numbers from 2 up to 10.

Resource Overview

Total  number of Sets: 57 sets, including 3 Challenge Worksheets that mix different skip counting numbers.

Worksheets per Set: The worksheets are virtually limitless. With a click of a button, numbers are randomized, which means that each worksheet is different. These worksheets are ideal for math centers, end-of-lesson activities, or as resources for substitute teachers, requiring minimal instructions.

Answers are generated automatically with each new worksheet.

Interactive Teaching Pages

The Teaching Pages, designed for use with Interactive Whiteboards, help to introduce the content of the worksheets providing unlimited examples. These pages focus specifically on skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s.

Compatibility Note

This resource is compatible with Adobe Acrobat Reader on both Windows and Mac systems.
