There is no cutting or laminating required! Just print 2 pages for each student and explain the rules to your class.
5 unique games are included so you can play multiple times.
I have also included a sample game with several rounds that you can show your class on the interactive whiteboard before they play!
Grades to Use With: This game is perfect for middle school classrooms (grades 5-9). It could be used for enrichment/early finishers, literacy centers or stations, holiday homework, or the beginning or end of the school year. It is a great way to teach critical thinking skills while practicing spelling and vocabulary as well.
Instructions:
1) Use some or all of the first seven letters to make a word. Enter it on the board vertically or horizontally. It must touch the center square.
2) Count your score (one point per letter). Move the letters you didn’t use down to the second row and fill the rest of the boxes with letters in order from the bank.
3) For the next round, make a new word that intersects your first word. Count your score, and bring down and fill in more letters as needed.
4) * are wild letters and can be whatever you would like.
5) Only use complete English words (no names or abbreviations).
6) Double the score of a word that touches a circle. Triple the score of a word that touches a triangle.
