Struggling Readers: Short Vowels Fluency Programme
Is your child able to sound out words but still struggling to read fluently? This programme fills the gap — bridging the jump from decoding to confident, fluent reading. I wrote it for my struggling dyslexic learners who had failed with multiple phonics programmes. It fills a gap that other programmes create: not all phonics programmes are equal.
This complete 10-week curriculum is designed specifically for struggling readers who can already blend short vowel words but haven't yet achieved reading fluency.
Tested with many pupils, it has not failed to work — and because we believe in it so completely, we offer it free so you can try it with absolutely no risk.
Borne out of necessity - not written remotely from real children. Honed on the anvil of experience.
The programme includes:
10 decodable reading books, each introducing just 10 new words to prevent cognitive overload
20 video lessons — like having a private tutor in your home or classroom
10 matching PowerPoint presentations
10 activity packs with 100+ worksheets and games
Each week, children master five words with a short vowel sound through the activity pack, building real familiarity before meeting them in print. When they open the reading book, they can read it fluently — often to their own amazement. That moment is a huge confidence boost.
The multi-sensory worksheets develop phonemic awareness, consonant blend strength, tracking skills, word differentiation, comprehension, and more — all through structured, repeated practice that embeds words into long-term memory.
The systematic, repetitive nature of the Struggling Readers: Short Vowels Fluency Programme makes it ideal for dyslexia, cerebral palsy, and general learning difficulties, and works equally well one-to-one or in small groups. After completing this programme, students are ready to progress to Level 1 of the Tom Stories and Jack Stories series.
This is just a part of a programme written with those who struggle in mind. If you have a child without difficulties, you can expect them to soar.
