Mindfulness Journey-An SEL Boom Deck With Audio

In this pixel themed Boom Deck, students will learn about the concept of mindfulness versus worrying about the future or dwelling on the past. There are 24 playing task cards and 10 introductory/closing cards. There is audio on each card so there is no required reading involved. This is a social emotional learning resource and it was created to have students learn about mindfulness in a fun and interactive way. There are different scenarios on each card with a different image on each card. Some of the situations involve sports, friendships, family, and other kid friendly situations. This deck can be used to assign to individual students, for a group or center resource, or as a whole class activity. Student enjoy coming up to the interactive white board and taking turns trying to distinguish between what is a mindfulness reaction and what is an unhelpful thought or worry. This is great for grades first, second, third, fourth and fifth. This under-the-sea reading comprehension contains 5 nonfiction reading passages. Each passage is presented four times in different complexities; starting from a simple version of the passage using multiple choice questions (picture-based) and moving on to a more complex passage that uses written questions. All questions to the passages test the student's comprehension of the passage through various questions. The objective of this activity is to help students practice their reading skills as well as their comprehension skills by using these short nonfiction passages. The teacher will have to: * Choose the level of comprehension the student can best complete. * Print out a worksheet for the relevant student. This CVC unit is engaging for students as they practice reading and learning the short vowel sounds while students cut and make the words, trace the words, write the words, and stamp out the words. Reading short vowel / rhyming words is an introduction to reading. Repetitive practice of reading these words is also another fundamental practice to help students read. In this unit, students will practice word families that have the same ending. Teach students that word families rhyme and only have a different beginning sound. For each word family, students will practice making, tracing, writing, or stamping six different words. Some of the words are proper nouns or names given to people or pets. There are also nonsensical words that are not real. The purpose of these words is to teach how to sound out words only within the same word family.
