Start off by introducing your students to these sight words by offering the PDF-based, Digital activity. Use the arrow keys to navigate through this resource after you opened it and displayed it on full screen. Students can even do this all by themselves. Then, test their sight word knowledge by opening up the digital fill in the blanks exercise. It works in the same way. Look at each question and press the right arrow key to reveal the answer. Do this for the entire quiz. Again, students can do this by themselves as well. If you would prefer to do this test on paper, no problem! Mo Willems is the author of the Pigeon book series. The books contain large amounts of vocabulary designed for k-2nd graders. However, the pictures are so simple and adorable, they can be enjoyed by people of all ages. I adore this series so much that i have collected all of them despite that my son is almost 20 years old. As a result, I created the first of what I hope to be a series of reading comprehension and guided reading activity packs to make learning more fun for early elementary students as well as special education students and those with special needs in the areas of speech and communication. The book, "Don't Let the Pigeon Stay up Late," is required reading in order for students to complete all of the activities. It is available for purchase at Amazon and at Mo Willems own website. You can also find it at your local library to check out. Students will practice reading and learn about grammar, spelling, and increase vocabulary. Activities include: Open-ended questions, writing prompts, based on the text in the book. A beautiful nature journaling set for children. Youngsters can combine pre-painted hand-illustrated characters (rabbits, hares, woodpeckers, and spring flowers) with the stunningly illustrated background scene. The scene has plenty of space for children to add their own drawings and writing to create wonderful journal pages to treasure. This set ideally lends itself to the study of animals in spring as well as life cycles, record observations in nature around you, or combine with study from books and objects. The sheet of illustrations makes ideal additions to spring displays. To create a tactile finished item I highly recommend printing onto high-quality paper, I like to use watercolor paper as this also allows the children to add their own paintings to the pages they create and means that every piece looks and feels like an original painting.
