Number Bonds 1-30 Bingo - Boards 11-15

Number Bonds 1-30 Bingo - Boards 11-15
Math, Fact Families, Addition and Subtraction, Addition, Grade 1, 2, 3, Activities, Games

Need a fun, engaging activity for practicing number bonds to 30 with your kiddos? This math bingo game is perfect for getting your students focused on number bonds for numbers 1-30! Preparation: Print and laminate enough Bingo Boards for each student to have one Optional: print, cut and laminate the Playing Squares Print, cut and laminate the Calling Cards. Lamination is optional, but recommended, as it will ensure that the game remains in good condition and can be used for many years to come! To avoid excessive printing and laminating, the Playing Squares could be replaced with other manipulatives such as buttons or counters. Alternatively, students could mark squares off on their Bingo Boards with dry erase markers and then simply clean the boards again after playing (provided that you have laminated the boards) How to Play: Each student needs a Bingo Board and at least 7 Playing Squares (or other manipulatives or a dry erase marker) Shuffle the Calling Cards and place them in a pile. Draw a Calling Card and call out and/or display the contents of the card. Each student looks on their Bingo Board for a block that matches the Calling Card. If they find one, they cover that block with a Playing Square. Draw a new Calling Card and repeat the process. The game continues until somebody wins. To win, a student must shout out “BINGO!” when they have covered three blocks in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally). If the Calling Cards run out before anybody wins, simply shuffle them again and continue playing. Please note: Sometimes there may be more than one block on the Bingo Board that matches the Calling Card. The student may only cover one block on a turn. Once that turn is over, the Playing Square may not be moved to cover a different block. This resource includes 5 different bingo board, in colour as well as black and white. If you would like more bingo boards to use for your class, you can find them in here I also have other number bonds bingo games available - CLICK HERE to check them out! Translate Algebraic to Verbal - I Have Who Has Class Activity

Translate Algebraic to Verbal - I Have Who Has Class Activity
, Grade 5, Activities, Games

I Have Who Has is a long time student favorite. Use this class activity over and over for students to practice translating algebraic expressions to verbal expressions. Implementation: 1. Make a copy of the cards and cut apart. You will only need one set to reuse for all of your classes. Use color paper and laminate if possible. (I had a set of I Have Who Has cards that were not laminated, used them for several years, and they held up well.) Keep an uncut copy for you to use as a key. 2. Have students number 1 - 32 on a piece of paper. 3. Mix up the cards and pass them out, one to each student. There are 32 cards so if you have fewer than 32 students then give some students two cards. 4. Any student can start with their WHO HAS. (If some students have 2 cards, start with one of them.) The student that has the algebraic expression for the WHO HAS statement speaks up and says I HAVE ____ WHO HAS_____. (reading their card) They should read their WHO HAS twice. All students will record the answer on their paper whether they have the card or not, trying to beat the person who has the card. Continue in this manner until you return to the starting card and they will then get to say their I HAVE. 5. You can repeat this activity by mixing up the cards before handing them out again. You can even repeat the activity over several days. This activity corresponds to the Common Core 5th grade math standard: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.5.OA.A.2 Write simple expressions that record calculations with numbers, and interpret numerical expressions without evaluating them. For example, express the calculation "add 8 and 7, then multiply by 2" as 2 × (8 + 7). There are 32 cards and detailed directions for you, the teacher. Students will each have a card and listen to the "Who Has" statement. If their card matches they will say "I Have" and read the matching statement along with their "Who Has" statement. This can be used as a class filler and can be used multiple times in the same day or on different days. The cards use limited numbers so students are matching the cards by mathematical terms such as product, sum, more than, increased by, etc. instead of by the numbers used. Examples of expressions used are : twice the sum of a number and 6 which matches to 2(n + 6) and 10 less than the product of a number and 6 which matches to 6n - 10.

Writing Center Words & Write-the Room Activity – OCEAN

Writing Center Words & Write-the Room Activity – OCEAN
ELA, Writing, Creative Writing, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Centers, Activities

Help your students write about life in the ocean with these fifteen ocean themed words and images for your K-2 classroom Writing Center . Words with images include clown fish, crab, dolphin, jellyfish, lobster, octopus, orca, puffer fish, trout, sea horse, shark, star fish, sword fish, sea turtle, and whale. My students LOVE the Writing Center ! I have lots of tools and “help” available for them, plus these themed word pages which they adore. I actually print two of each, so there is no fuss about having to share, and I laminate them before placing in the Writing Center for durability. Having laminated themed word pages, students can easily grab one and use it to help write their stories. Page 4 of the PDF is for the Writing Center . Print and laminate one or two and place it in the Writing Center for your students to access as needed. Also included are 16 cards for a Write–the–Room activity if you choose to use them. (I have only used this with my Kindergarten class.) These cards are four-per-page, with the same words and images used for the Writing Center . Pages 5-8 of the PDF are cards for use as a Write-the-Room activity. You may wish to laminate for durability to be able to use year-after-year, and use sticky tack (poster putty) to mount it to walls, bookshelves, file cabinets, etc. I find this is easier than tape. On of my grade-level teachers prints in gray scale, tapes them up, and then lets students take them home after use. Whatever works best for you. Recording pages for the Write-the-Room are included on pages 9 and 10. Page 9 is a full-size recording sheet, and page 10 has 2 half-size recording sheets if you use mini-clip boards like I do. Please note - the first three pages are for "packaging" purposes.
