Short U: Four Clues One Answer Sample Note: This download is in PowerPoint show mode to protect the rights of the image creator(s), and is thus UNEDITABLE. Playing the Game There are two rounds. In the first round, click on the numbers in order to reveal clues. There is no in-built points system giving the teacher full control over how you wish to grade the game. Clues range in difficulty with the majority of first clues harder and the last clue making it easier to guess. Press the box to reveal the final picture (the word itself). The reveal box can be done at the end if you wish to reveal the letters bellow first; the word is spelled in the boxes at the bottom, click on each box to reveal a letter. Round two offers a similar style but clues are in picture format. There is no reveal box but letters at the bottom as in round 1. There are arrows to move to the next slide throughout. About the Full Game (available in the ppt game links section below) This game offers a chance to practice a range of skills and gives the teacher control over how they want students to answer. Given a mix of clues in word and picture format, teachers can reveal each letter in the answer individually. The game comes as a Powerpoint Presentation, which is interactive when on put on full screen (presentation mode) There are two versions of the game: version 2 is slightly more difficult than version 1 For each version: - There are 6 categories: Je me présente, ma famille, mes amis, mes rapports, les tendances, l'avenir - A total of 30 phrases to translate: 5 phrases to translate per aspect (level of difficulty increases: first three phrases are French to English, last two phrases are English to French). - model answer provided for each phrase to translate Advice on how to play: Put the PPT presentation full screen to access questions. Simply click on a box to see the question. Click anywhere to see the answer. Click on the button ‘Jeopardy’ from the answer slide to go back to the menu. The box corresponding to the sentences that have been translated will turn from yellow to blue. Students in your class take turns in picking a box (i.e: Mes amis pour 200€) but all students should translate the phrases. Only students with the correct translation receive the ‘money’. Levels of difficulty: The first level (1 fag) features 12 vocabulary words - perfect for beginners The second level (2 flags) includes an additional 10 words- perfect for lower-intermediate learners What is in the file: This resource includes two .pdf files of 2 pages each: one page for French and one for English, allowing them to decide if they want to translate from French to English or from English to French. By printing these on both sides of a sheet, students can indulge in a sneak-peak using the back of the card if they get stuck. Sustainability Option: Teachers may opt to laminate these cue cards for durability and repeated use—promoting practice while conserving resources. Example of key vocabulary included in the game: In Level one: learners will practice keywords such as: " le Père Noël", "la neige" or "le sapin de Noël" In Level two: additional phrases such as "le traîneau", "la guirlande" or "la messe de minuit" make an appearance. The rules: This game is to be played in pairs. Taking turns, students draw a vertical or horizontal line between two dots.
