Number Bonds 1-30 Bingo - Boards 1-5
Math, Fact Families, Addition and Subtraction, Addition, Grade 1, 2, 3, Activities, Games

Need a fun, engaging activity for practicing number bonds to 30 with your kiddos? This math bingo game is perfect for getting your students focused on number bonds for numbers 1-30! Preparation: Print and laminate enough Bingo Boards for each student to have one Optional: print, cut and laminate the Playing Squares Print, cut and laminate the Calling Cards. Lamination is optional, but recommended, as it will ensure that the game remains in good condition and can be used for many years to come! To avoid excessive printing and laminating, the Playing Squares could be replaced with other manipulatives such as buttons or counters. Alternatively, students could mark squares off on their Bingo Boards with dry erase markers and then simply clean the boards again after playing (provided that you have laminated the boards) How to Play: Each student needs a Bingo Board and at least 7 Playing Squares (or other manipulatives or a dry erase marker) Shuffle the Calling Cards and place them in a pile. Draw a Calling Card and call out and/or display the contents of the card. Each student looks on their Bingo Board for a block that matches the Calling Card. If they find one, they cover that block with a Playing Square. Draw a new Calling Card and repeat the process. The game continues until somebody wins. To win, a student must shout out “BINGO!” when they have covered three blocks in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally). If the Calling Cards run out before anybody wins, simply shuffle them again and continue playing. Please note: Sometimes there may be more than one block on the Bingo Board that matches the Calling Card. The student may only cover one block on a turn. Once that turn is over, the Playing Square may not be moved to cover a different block. This resource includes 5 different bingo board, in colour as well as black and white. a-e Phonic Game: 'E' or no 'E'? Print 'n Play!

a-e Phonic Game: 'E' or no 'E'? Print 'n Play!
Special Resources, ELA, Special Education Needs (SEN), Language Development, Pre-Reading, Phonics, Reading, Spelling, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Activities, Games

Here is a simple, fun, print n' play phonic game to help children learn the split digraph a-e. Your pupils will learn in no time with this easy-to-play game! This is a game for 2 players. The pack included both colour and black and white versions. Laminate the colour version for durability and sen the black and white version home for extra practice. Who can use the a-e phonic Game? Teachers, Parents home-educators Private Tutors Anyone who needs it! Aim of the game: ·To demonstrate how the short vowel sound /a/ changes when ‘e’ is added to make /ae/. ·To give the child plenty of practice recognising the difference between /a/ words and /ae/ words. How to play: Place the picture/word cards in a pile and put the ‘e’ cards neatly on the table. Players take turns to take a spot card from the feely bag. A green spot means that the player should take the topmost picture/word card from the pile and place it in front of him/her. S/he must then decide (by reading the word, sounding out if necessary) whether or not this word requires an ‘e’ or not to change the /a/ to /ae/. If needed the ‘e’ should be added and the card set aside by the player. If not, the word should be placed likewise. Should a red spot be picked, the player must miss a turn. The winner is the player with the most completed cards when al the cards have been used up. Should a player add an ‘e’ when it is not needed, or fail to add one when it is needed should/would/could lose the card, should the teacher deem it helpful to the child. In some cases, the teacher may allow the child help and let the child keep the card once corrected. This is at the teacher's discretion bearing in mind the needs of each child. Teaching tips: This game provides the opportunity for the pupil and teacher to see just where there are problems - listen out for the ‘messages’ in a pupil’s hesitation, his/her misreading of a word so that it does not describe the picture, or thoughtlessness in studying the word and picture carefully to decide about the need, or not, of the ‘e’. These are all indicators of understanding. discipline is required too as the pupil realises that letters in words and spelling are important. For many pupils, this is a new discovery. ‘Look what you have done to ‘hat’! You have changed it into ‘hate’ by putting ‘e’ on the end! This states the problem and for many pupils is the key to sorting out whether an ‘e’ is needed or not. Included: 1 PDF file with 1 game in both colour and black and white.

Grocery Game: Estimating, Adding, and Multiplying Decimals

Grocery Game: Estimating, Adding, and Multiplying Decimals
Life Studies, Math, Addition and Subtraction, Addition, Decimals, Multiplication and Division, Division, Money, Home Economics, Grade 3, 4, 5, 6, Activities, Games

This powerpoint presentation is based on the popular game show "The Price Is Right." It is a fun, whole class activity that you need to be able to project in your classroom on an interactive whiteboard or screen-share for distance learning. As students play along, they practice estimating to stay within a shopping budget. They have to multiply and add with decimal numbers: all helpful realistic applications. My students absolutely love playing this game , and I have included three rounds so you can play more than once! Instructions: 1) Decide on a target range. A higher range will require more challenging multiplication. If the range is tighter, it will be more difficult to win. I usually use a range such as $50-$52. 2) Tell students they must buy at least 4 of the 5 products. Students need to have a piece of paper and a pencil for calculations. 3) Choose a student to pick the first product. She needs to estimate the price for one of them, decide how many she wants to buy, and estimate how much that will cost. “I think the cheese is about $5, I want 3, so that will be around $15.” 4) Then show the price (by moving the red box with your cursor), and all students calculate the cost by hand. For example, 3 x 5.75 = 17.25. This is the start of the running total. 5) Choose another student to buy the second product. Again, have him or her estimate before calculating. Then allow all the students to calculate the cost of the second product. For example 4 x 3.19 = 12.76. 6) Now students have to switch from multiplying to adding decimals. They add the price of the second product to their running total. 17.25 + 12.76 = 30.01 7) Continue with the third, fourth, and fifth (if necessary) product. 8) Students try to spend between $50-52. It’s not always easy! Talk to the class about different strategies such as saving an inexpensive product for the end. If you like this Grocery Game , try another one! Fall Edition Winter Edition
