St. Patrick's Day Alphabet Pocket Chart Game

St. Patrick's Day Alphabet Pocket Chart Game
Phonics, Language Development, ELA, Pre-Reading, St. Patrick's Day, Holidays, Holiday & Seasonal, Kindergarten, Preschool, Centers, Activities, Games

Get students excited about learning the letters of the alphabet with this St. Patrick's Day pocket chart hide and seek game. What is Included: This resource includes two sets of alphabet cards in two different sizes to accommodate different sized pocket charts. There are three different leprechaun images for teachers to choose from to hide behind one of the letters. The alphabet cards are available in both capital and lowercase letters. How to Play: To play, teachers will place the letter cards into the pocket chart in any order they desire. Without the students looking, the teacher will hide one leprechaun picture behind one letter. Students will then either say the letter name or letter sound to guess the letter they think the leprechaun is hiding behind. If that leprechaun is not hiding behind that letter, the students will guess a different letter. If the leprechaun is behind the letter, students have found the leprechaun and to play more, it will need to be hidden again. There is an optional poem that can be chanted before each letter guess to make the game more interactive. This pocket chart game is a low prep option for teachers to use with students. Once created, the game can be used over and over in various classroom settings. When to Use: This game is perfect to use in a pocket chart during a morning routine or circle time to review letters students have already been exposed to. This game is a great addition to a literacy center, as it is easy for students to set up and play in groups of 2 or 3. This game makes a great activity to leave with a sub, as it is something that is easy to do, and students love playing the game. This game can also be used to as a reinforcement for struggling learners in a small group setting.

Halloween Alphabet Matching Game – Spot It Style Cards Early Literacy

Halloween Alphabet Matching Game – Spot It Style Cards Early Literacy

Halloween Alphabet Matching Game – Spot It Style Cards for Early Literacy This Halloween card set is based on the familiar “ Spot It” style game but adapted for alphabet and early literacy practice. I like to bring it out in late October when my class is full of energy but still needs structured learning. The mix of playful competition and letter recognition makes it a good fit for both Pre-K and early elementary groups. The set includes 93 cards in total, arranged as three complete decks with 31 cards each. Every card shows six different Halloween-themed pictures. The fun part is that any two cards always share exactly one picture in common. Students race to find the match between their card and the one in the center pile. Whoever names it first keeps the card. The round continues until the stack is finished, and the player with the most cards wins. There are three versions of the cards: round, square, and hexagonal. I usually print one full set, laminate it, and keep it in a small box for the season. The round cards feel most like the original game, while the square version is quicker to cut. The hexagons are eye-catching and add variety. In my kindergarten group, this game helped students practice quick recognition of letters and pictures. It also encouraged turn-taking and teamwork. For ESL learners, the visual clues and repeated naming of pictures gave extra support with vocabulary. Some of my students even started making up their own rules, such as timed rounds or team challenges, which kept the activity fresh. The game works well in literacy centers, as a short brain break, or as an activity for early finishers. It requires very little preparation beyond printing and cutting. Because it is flexible in design, you can use just part of the deck if you want a shorter game. This resource is best suited for preschool, kindergarten, and grade 1, but I have also seen older students enjoy it simply as a seasonal challenge. It is a playful way to bring some Halloween atmosphere into the classroom without losing the focus on learning. Warm regards, Lernfitness Did You Know? Grocery Game: Estimating, Adding, and Multiplying Decimals - Spring Edition

Grocery Game: Estimating, Adding, and Multiplying Decimals - Spring Edition
Holiday & Seasonal, Math, Addition and Subtraction, Decimals, Multiplication and Division, Seasons, Spring, Holidays, Easter, Grade 3, 4, 5, 6, Activities, Games

Here is a brand new edition of my popular grocery game. There are three rounds (Easter, Passover & Holi) with five food items each! It is a fun, whole class activity that you need to be able to project in your classroom on an interactive whiteboard or screen-share for distance learning. As students play along, they practice estimating to stay within a shopping budget. They have to multiply and add with decimal numbers: all helpful realistic applications. Instructions: 1) Decide on a target range. A higher range will require more challenging multiplication. If the range is tighter, it will be more difficult to win. I usually use a range such as $50-$52. 2) Tell students they must buy at least 4 of the 5 products. Students need to have a piece of paper and a pencil (or whiteboards) for calculations. 3) Choose a student to pick the first product. She needs to estimate the price for one of them, decide how many she wants to buy, and estimate how much that will cost. “I think the cheese is about $5, I want 3, so that will be around $15.” 4) Then show the price (by moving the red box with your cursor), and all students calculate the cost by hand. For example, 3 x 5.75 = 17.25. This is the start of the running total. 5) Choose another student to buy the second product. Again, have him or her estimate before calculating. Then allow all the students to calculate the cost of the second product. For example 4 x 3.19 = 12.76. 6) Now students have to switch from multiplying to adding decimals. They add the price of the second product to their running total. 17.25 + 12.76 = 30.01 7) Continue with the third, fourth, and fifth (if necessary) product. 8) Students try to spend between $50-52. It’s not always easy! Talk to the class about different strategies such as saving an inexpensive product for the end. What's Included: A 5 page PowerPoint Presentation If you like this game, try my other rounds: Winter Holidays Grocery Game Fall Holidays
