I Have, Who Has? – Chemistry Element Symbols Game - Christmas Edition

I Have, Who Has? – Chemistry Element Symbols Game - Christmas Edition
STEM, Science, Chemistry, Physics, Basic Science, Holiday & Seasonal, Christmas, Holidays, Winter, Seasons, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Escape Room, Experiments, Projects, Centers

I Have, Who Has? – Chemistry Element Symbols Game - Christmas Edition I started using this game as a simple way to review the periodic table, especially the main group elements. Over time, it’s become one of those go-to activities that just work – low prep, easy to explain, and students are surprisingly focused once it gets going. The idea is simple: each student gets one or more cards. A card might say, “I have Na. Who has the symbol for Oxygen?” Whoever has the right answer reads their card next, and the round continues until all cards are used. It’s nothing fancy, but it gets students speaking, listening, and thinking about element names and symbols without it feeling like a quiz. What I like is that you can use the game in different ways, depending on the class. In some groups, I stick to the first 20 elements. In others, we go all the way up to element 118. There are also versions where only the names are shown, only the symbols, or a mix of both – so you can adjust the difficulty. I’ve used it with students from grades 8 to 11, sometimes as a warm-up, sometimes as a review at the end of a unit. The materials are printable and easy to store. I’ve printed mine on colored paper to help sort the different versions. Laminating helps if you plan to reuse the cards from year to year, but even unlaminated sets hold up pretty well for a few rounds. It’s a quiet way to reinforce chemistry basics, especially when students need to move a bit or when you want to switch things up without losing content. In my experience, even students who usually hang back tend to join in, since the rules are simple and everyone has a role. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? O star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright, westward leading still proceeding, guide us to the perfect light.” What gifts would you bring to Jesus? Young readers will enjoy singing this classic carol that celebrates the gifts brought to Jesus. Dog Cards to Colour – Easy Classroom Activity for the Week Before Break I made these dog cards last year for my class because that last week before the holidays is always kind of messy and loud, and I just needed something simple and quiet. The idea was to have something that felt a bit festive without needing a lot of prep, and also without turning the classroom into glitter chaos. The cards are just black and white drawings of different dogs wearing hats or scarves, nothing complicated, just cute. I printed them out on slightly thicker paper, gave the kids pencils and markers, and that was it. Some of the students took a lot of time choosing which dog they liked best. Others just grabbed one and started colouring right away. A few wanted to do more than one. I didn’t make any rules around it. Some kids added a message inside, others didn’t. A couple of students wrote little notes to the janitor or their families. One card even ended up on the classroom door with a note for our imaginary school dog (we don’t actually have one, but they like to pretend). It was sweet. We didn’t tie it to any lesson plan, I didn’t grade it, and I didn’t ask for a final product. It was just something they could do to wind down. We listened to quiet music, and honestly, it was one of the calmest hours of the whole month. They were focused, but relaxed. And because it was dogs, even students who usually don’t enjoy drawing stayed with it. If I had to describe it, I’d say it’s a quiet little task that gives students something to do with their hands and minds when they don’t have a lot of focus left. Just print, hand out, and let them take it from there. No rules, no stress. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Glitter Backgrounds – 12 Sparkling Designs for Worksheets, Slides, and Classroom Projects to Brighten Your Classroom Materials ✨ PNG + PDF + TIFF Over the years, I’ve found that even small visual changes can make a big difference when it comes to engaging students—especially with worksheets, bulletin boards, or presentations. That’s exactly why I created these glitter backgrounds. They add a little sparkle and visual interest without being too overwhelming or distracting. Sometimes it’s the background that helps set the mood for a lesson. In this set, you’ll find 12 glitter-style backgrounds, each in A4 format. I designed them using Procreate, and they’re available in three file types: PNG, PDF, and TIFF. That way, you can choose what works best for you—whether you're creating something for print or a digital format like Canva, PowerPoint, or Google Slides. What’s included: – 12 different glitter backgrounds (A4 size) – File formats: PNG (with transparency), PDF (ready to print), TIFF (high resolution) I’ve used these backgrounds in lots of different ways: as worksheet templates, as digital covers in GoodNotes, and even as backing pages for student booklets. Around the holidays, students love anything that sparkles—so I’ve used them for reflection prompts in December, festive games, or classroom posters. They’re also a nice way to elevate things like certificates, behavior charts, or project templates. The designs are colorful and textured, but still neutral enough to use across different subjects and age groups. A note on usage: You're welcome to use these backgrounds in your own classroom or in materials you create for your students. You can also use them in educational resources you plan to share or sell—just make sure your own content is clearly visible and that you credit my store or website when doing so. Wishing you lots of creative ideas and sparkly results! – Heike from @Lernfitness Did You Know? 67 Meme Winter Order of Operations Pixel Art

67 Meme Winter Order of Operations Pixel Art
Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Winter, Seasons, Geometry, Graphing, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Activities

If your kids just won’t stop talking about “67,” you might as well find a use for it. This winter-themed pixel art math center involving the order of operations takes the 67 fixation and turns it into something even better than just solving for 67: something the kids will really care to see the answer to. The concept is easy and fun. Students can complete twenty order of operations problems, which involve the use of parentheses but no exponentials. This is just the activity for reinforcing the concept. A correct answer reveals the next piece of a hidden winter scene. As the image develops, the characteristic number 67 is exposed in winter colors. This assignment is completely digital and automatically Self-Checking. Students get immediate feedback this way. If the student puts an incorrect answer down, the image will not reveal their mistake and will encourage the student to look at what they have done and try again. Your assignment will teach the student to not ask how their work looks or whether or not something is right. For an element of flexibility, printable versions have been included too. These same twenty problems can be accessed as a worksheet, so assigning these to be completed as homework is easy. There is also a complete set of math problem cards that are printable. These math problem cards are excellent to be used when engaging in math centers or scoot. Whatever way of teaching you choose to utilize, whether digital, physically, or a combination of these, this resource will go smoothly. There is also a complete answer key. This activity is particularly well-suited for December and January, when students' attention and motivational levels may be low. This activity is engaging for note-taking, organized for review days, and safe to keep on hand for emergency substitute teaching. Also, because everything is already established, little to no prep is required. Just pass out the link, and students can dive right in. No locks need to be set up, no clues need to be placed, and no sign-ins to a website are necessary. Everything happens entirely on line. Skills taught are evaluating multi-step expressions, using the order of operations when there are parentheses, and learning to compute precisely in a low-stakes, high-interest manner. If you are looking to capture the 67 trend with your class while building key math concepts, this pixel art activity this winter season offers exactly what you are looking for: a perfect combination of rigor, fun, and simplicity. Your class will be enthralled, and you will have an excellent, no-prep teaching tool to use all year long.

Angels We Have Heard On High Video Storybook Transport students back to the first Christmas with this video eBook that dramatizes the classic carol “Angels We Have Heard On High.” The video vividly depicts the angel appearing to the shepherds to announce the birth of Jesus. Hear the angelic chorus sing “Gloria in excelsis Deo!” as the frightened shepherds journey to Bethlehem to see the infant. The video concludes by showing the scripture from Luke 2:13-15 (NIV) detailing the angels' proclamation. Use this memorable resource to teach early learners about the nativity story. It can facilitate whole-group instruction or independent reading. Other titles in the Christmas Carol series include We Three Kings, The First Noel, and Away in a Manger.

Chemistry Pennant Banner – 50 Main Group Elements to Print

Printable Pennants: 50 Main Group Elements – Holiday Chemistry Decor (Christmas Theme) This is a printable banner I made for my chemistry classroom, mostly to bring a bit of colour and a seasonal touch in December while still keeping it content-related. It includes 50 of the main group elements from the periodic table, each one on a separate pennant with the name, symbol and atomic number. I hang them up across the whiteboard or on the classroom wall, and the nice thing is that the students walk past them all the time, so they kind of absorb the information without realising it. The look of the pennants is slightly Christmas-themed, nothing too much, just enough to feel like it fits the season. I’ve done it both ways – printing the coloured version myself and just hanging it up, or printing the black-and-white version and letting students decorate a pennant each. That version worked well with a lower energy group before the holidays, and they enjoyed adding small facts or drawings connected to their element. Some made it artistic, others just coloured it in, but it definitely helped with remembering. Depending on the class, I sometimes only use the first 20 elements, especially if we haven’t covered much of the table yet. But with older students, we’ve used all 50 and even turned it into a quick quiz – like who can find the halogens in the banner, or name something everyday that contains element 13. I usually print the pennants on slightly thicker paper so they hang nicely, and if I want to use them again next year, I laminate them. String or ribbon works well for hanging, and it only takes a few minutes to put it all together. It’s a small thing, but it brightens up the room and keeps the content in view. Everything’s included in the file – all the pennants and a short explanation. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? In this precious rhyming story, a little boy reflects on spending Christmas each year with his Grandma. From making decorations together for the Christmas tree, to drinking hot chocolate and staying up late talking by the fireplace; the little boy and his Grandma make sweet memories. When it’s time to leave, and Grandma becomes teary-eyed, the little boy ensures her that she’s the best part of Christmas. “So whenever my face feels the first flakes of snow, wherever I am, it’s to Grandma’s I go. Where it’s always been Christmas, and always will be, for Christmas at Grandma’s is Christmas to me.”
