Gingerbread Man Early Cirriculum Inspiration Guide
Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Preschool, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, Activities
WHAT DOES THIS PACK COVER? This pack is themed around the traditional tale of βThe Gingerbread Manβ. It would be useful to have access to a copy (or several varying copies) of the story to read to your child, however if you do not have access to a version of the book you can use the flashcards in this pack to tell the story. This pack contains learning resources to develop young childrenβs skills in phonics, mathematics and motor skills. NOTE TO PARENTS / TEACHERS This pack contains a range of different resources designed to be used in multiple flexible ways. Our curriculum are rich in open ended resources as we believe in tailoring each activity / lesson to a childβs individual development. This guide contains some SUGGESTIONS on how you could use the resources included in this pack. This is by no means an exhaustive list and is designed to be a βstarting pointβ for you to develop your research and curriculum. EARLY YEARS & CHILD-LED The early years range is used to describe children below the age of 6 (in the UK), these packs are designed to assist children of this age to develop key skills needed for the future. Naturally, there is a huge difference between a child of 1 and a child of 5, therefore not all activities will be suitable for all ages. Most of the resources in this pack are designed to be used by children aged 2-5 however with adaptation older and younger children will enjoy joining in the activities. Most of these activities lend themselves to being set out in an β activity β area or βplay spaceβ to allow the child to choose what activities to complete and when. Child-led learning is a valuable part of the early years stage. Please Note: You can view all other items that would normally go with this guide as other products listed on my page including gingerbread man cut out, 5 currant buns poem and a gingerbread game.

Chemistry Element Symbol Game β Visual Matching Cards: Christmas Theme
STEM, Science, Chemistry, Physics, Basic Science, Holiday & Seasonal, Christmas, Holidays, Winter, Seasons, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Escape Room, Experiments, Projects, Centers
Chemistry Element Symbol Game β Visual Matching Cards (Christmas Theme) This is a chemistry card game Iβve used in class when we need something more hands-on but still connected to what weβre learning. It works kind of like βDobbleβ or βSpot it!β, where you have to find the symbol that two cards have in common. In this case, the cards show element symbols from the first 31 main group elements. No names, just symbols β so it only works if students already know some of them. I usually bring this out in December, when the mood in class is a bit more relaxed but weβre still doing chemistry. The game moves quickly, and students enjoy it once they understand the rules. It doesnβt need any extra materials beyond the cards. Just print them, cut them out, and youβre good to go. There are 93 cards in total, with the same content but in three different shapes: round, square, and hexagon. I printed the square version because itβs easiest to cut, but the round cards look nice too. If you want to keep them for next year, laminating helps. I use it as a warm-up or at a station, sometimes even as a competition in small groups. The best part is that students have to look closely at the symbols and make quick decisions. It really helps with recognition. Some classes get quite into it, and others play more calmly β both work. You can also combine it with coloring beforehand. For example, color all Group 1 elements the same β that makes sorting and grouping easier later. Itβs not a complex game, but it keeps the focus on the element symbols without turning it into a test. Thatβs what I wanted when I made it β something simple that still helps them practise. All the cards are included in the file, plus a short page with how to use them. π Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Periodic Table Elements Domino Game β Christmas Chemistry Activity
STEM, Science, Chemistry, Physics, Basic Science, Holiday & Seasonal, Christmas, Holidays, Winter, Seasons, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Word Problems, Escape Room, Experiments, Projects
Periodic Table Elements Domino Game β Christmas Chemistry Activity During the last week before winter break, I like to keep my lessons calm but still connected to content. This chemistry domino game has worked well in that context. It gives students a chance to revisit the periodic table in a light way, without feeling like theyβre doing a full review worksheet. The game is made up of cards that show either the name of an element or its chemical symbol. Students connect the matching parts, so that the end of one card links to the start of the next, just like with a regular domino set. I included all 118 elements, from Hydrogen to Oganesson, so thereβs enough variety for most grade levels. Depending on the group, I sometimes let them use a periodic table as support. In other classes, we turn it into more of a memory challenge. Some students take it seriously and try to build the longest chain, others enjoy working in pairs or small groups just to go over what they remember. The cards have a light seasonal theme, which fits well with December lessons. They can be printed on heavier paper, and I usually store them in envelopes or folders by element groups if I want to use them again the next year. No extra materials are needed beyond scissors and maybe a bit of tape or a surface to build on. The setup doesnβt take long, and the atmosphere is usually relaxed. Students still talk about chemistry, especially when they help each other with tricky symbols. It works well in classes where energy is low but you still want them engaged in something subject-related. All the cards and a short set of instructions are included. Iβve used it in different grade levels, and itβs easy to adjust depending on time and ability. A simple idea, but one that helps bring chemistry into the room in a different way. π Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? 67 Meme Winter Solving One Step Equations Pixel Art
Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Winter, Seasons, Algebra, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Activities
If "67" has taken over your classroom talk, now is the perfect opportunity to turn it into something useful. This Christmas one step equation pixel art task is riding off the back of the viral trend "67" and giving it a purposeful spin. Rather than seeing a math problem pop up, students see a task with an end goal, something they are curious about completing right away. Students complete twenty equations with one-step solutions for both positive and negative integers. The exercises involve all basic arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division so that the pupils get excellent practice without overwhelming them. Every time the child gives the correct answer to the equation, a part of a puzzle with a winter scenery will be revealed to the child, and in the end, the well-known number 67 will be visible in winter colors. The digital version is completely self-checking, providing immediate feedback to the student as they complete questions. Incorrect math problems will not be revealed by the picture, prompting the student to take another look and complete the problem again. I find this feature to give the student instant feedback and to give you time to assist other students as they complete independent practice activities. To offer further flexibility, printable versions are provided as choices. These same twenty equations can be found in a worksheet form, making it simple to assign for homework or in-class work without technology. You will also see a complete toolbox of printable task cards, great for centers, group work, or a scuttlebutt rotation. A complete answer key is provided for easy assessment or review by students. This activity is perfect when done in December, when children tend to be especially energetic and have a hard time sitting still. Itβs exciting enough to be seasonal and entertaining, yet formalized enough to provide actual value in improving their expertise. Itβs also a great go-to activity in case of an emergency sub plan with no prep work involved. The skills that have been reinforced are the following: performing operations on one-step equations involving all four operations and developing fluency with positive and negative integers. Students are getting repetition without boredom and feedback without frustration. If you want to bring a little bit of Christmas spirit into the mathematics portion of your day while still focusing on the teaching and the learning, the Winter 67 Pixel Art provides the perfect remedy. This is easy to assign and administer, and it is impossible to ignore, in the best possible way.

Chemistry Pennant Banner β 50 Main Group Elements to Print
STEM, Science, Chemistry, Physics, Life Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Basic Science, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Homeschool Templates, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, Activities, Projects, Labs, Experiments, Classroom Decor, Door Decor, Bulletin Boards, Crafts, Centers, Banners
Printable Pennants: 50 Main Group Elements β Holiday Chemistry Decor (Christmas Theme) This is a printable banner I made for my chemistry classroom, mostly to bring a bit of colour and a seasonal touch in December while still keeping it content-related. It includes 50 of the main group elements from the periodic table, each one on a separate pennant with the name, symbol and atomic number. I hang them up across the whiteboard or on the classroom wall, and the nice thing is that the students walk past them all the time, so they kind of absorb the information without realising it. The look of the pennants is slightly Christmas-themed, nothing too much, just enough to feel like it fits the season. Iβve done it both ways β printing the coloured version myself and just hanging it up, or printing the black-and-white version and letting students decorate a pennant each. That version worked well with a lower energy group before the holidays, and they enjoyed adding small facts or drawings connected to their element. Some made it artistic, others just coloured it in, but it definitely helped with remembering. Depending on the class, I sometimes only use the first 20 elements, especially if we havenβt covered much of the table yet. But with older students, weβve used all 50 and even turned it into a quick quiz β like who can find the halogens in the banner, or name something everyday that contains element 13. I usually print the pennants on slightly thicker paper so they hang nicely, and if I want to use them again next year, I laminate them. String or ribbon works well for hanging, and it only takes a few minutes to put it all together. Itβs a small thing, but it brightens up the room and keeps the content in view. Everythingβs included in the file β all the pennants and a short explanation. π Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Winter Plotting Points on the Coordinate Plane Pixel Art Activity
Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Winter, Seasons, Geometry, Graphing, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Activities
Trust me when I say that if you have ever attempted to incorporate coordinate plane practice in the winter months in the classroom, you know exactly what I am talking about: restless kids, short attention span, and anything resembling βschoolworkβ gets the side eye. This pixel winter-themed project removes all of this stress from your shoulders. It provides your 5th or 6th-grade students with appreciable point-plotting practice while being different from the norm. The best part about this is how simple it is: Students put twenty coordinate pairs in the familiar drag-and-drop interface. With each correct point placed, students get a glimpse of a puzzle image hiding behind the coordinate grid. Piece by piece, the complete winter image emerges. Even those students who tend to zone out in graphing class sit up straight knowing there's going to be a reward in the form of unearthing a picture. It's not just another graphing projectβit's like puzzle-solving. And the best part of this process? This process is completely self-checking. You don't have to be right there in front of the computer, adjusting and confirming if the point is in the correct spot. The lesson handles all of this information by itself. A point in the wrong spot simply means the image doesn't appear. The students learn from this process and try again. You can also use this resource in multiple ways; you can use it digitally in class practice or incorporate it in your homeward assignments as an interactive way to review. This resource works perfectly after demonstrating the coordinate graph in class for the first time, during a spiral review in the middle of the unit, or even right before class if there's going to be a test. This resource fits perfectly in class because of the wintery theme; in fact, it doesnβt cross over into anything holiday-related. Here's what's included: β’ Digital no-prep pixel art lesson β’ Twenty drag-and-drop ordered pairs with coverage of all four quadrants β’ Fully self-checking format featuring a winter mystery picture β’ Easy-to-follow student instructions β’ Ready-to-use environment that can be assigned in seconds Teachers appreciate that this activity is fresh and interesting yet not complicated. Students appreciate that this activity is like working on a puzzle compared to other math assignments. And you will appreciate that this process provides you with reliable data from practice without contributing more to your grading stack. This Mystery Picture Activity in math class would be the perfect way for your students to develop coordinate planes this winter if you want the students to have fun doing math assignments.

67 Meme Winter Order of Operations Pixel Art
Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Winter, Seasons, Geometry, Graphing, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Activities
If your kids just wonβt stop talking about β67,β you might as well find a use for it. This winter-themed pixel art math center involving the order of operations takes the 67 fixation and turns it into something even better than just solving for 67: something the kids will really care to see the answer to. The concept is easy and fun. Students can complete twenty order of operations problems, which involve the use of parentheses but no exponentials. This is just the activity for reinforcing the concept. A correct answer reveals the next piece of a hidden winter scene. As the image develops, the characteristic number 67 is exposed in winter colors. This assignment is completely digital and automatically Self-Checking. Students get immediate feedback this way. If the student puts an incorrect answer down, the image will not reveal their mistake and will encourage the student to look at what they have done and try again. Your assignment will teach the student to not ask how their work looks or whether or not something is right. For an element of flexibility, printable versions have been included too. These same twenty problems can be accessed as a worksheet, so assigning these to be completed as homework is easy. There is also a complete set of math problem cards that are printable. These math problem cards are excellent to be used when engaging in math centers or scoot. Whatever way of teaching you choose to utilize, whether digital, physically, or a combination of these, this resource will go smoothly. There is also a complete answer key. This activity is particularly well-suited for December and January, when students' attention and motivational levels may be low. This activity is engaging for note-taking, organized for review days, and safe to keep on hand for emergency substitute teaching. Also, because everything is already established, little to no prep is required. Just pass out the link, and students can dive right in. No locks need to be set up, no clues need to be placed, and no sign-ins to a website are necessary. Everything happens entirely on line. Skills taught are evaluating multi-step expressions, using the order of operations when there are parentheses, and learning to compute precisely in a low-stakes, high-interest manner. If you are looking to capture the 67 trend with your class while building key math concepts, this pixel art activity this winter season offers exactly what you are looking for: a perfect combination of rigor, fun, and simplicity. Your class will be enthralled, and you will have an excellent, no-prep teaching tool to use all year long.
