Chemistry Element Symbol Game – Visual Matching Cards (Christmas Theme) This is a chemistry card game I’ve used in class when we need something more hands-on but still connected to what we’re learning. It works kind of like “Dobble” or “Spot it!”, where you have to find the symbol that two cards have in common. In this case, the cards show element symbols from the first 31 main group elements. No names, just symbols – so it only works if students already know some of them. I usually bring this out in December, when the mood in class is a bit more relaxed but we’re still doing chemistry. The game moves quickly, and students enjoy it once they understand the rules. It doesn’t need any extra materials beyond the cards. Just print them, cut them out, and you’re good to go. There are 93 cards in total, with the same content but in three different shapes: round, square, and hexagon. I printed the square version because it’s easiest to cut, but the round cards look nice too. If you want to keep them for next year, laminating helps. I use it as a warm-up or at a station, sometimes even as a competition in small groups. The best part is that students have to look closely at the symbols and make quick decisions. It really helps with recognition. Some classes get quite into it, and others play more calmly – both work. You can also combine it with coloring beforehand. For example, color all Group 1 elements the same – that makes sorting and grouping easier later. It’s not a complex game, but it keeps the focus on the element symbols without turning it into a test. That’s what I wanted when I made it – something simple that still helps them practise. All the cards are included in the file, plus a short page with how to use them. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Chemistry Christmas Theme Flashcards: Match Element Names and Symbols
STEM, Science, Chemistry, Physics, Basic Science, Holiday & Seasonal, Christmas, Holidays, Winter, Seasons, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Escape Room, Experiments, Projects, Centers
Chemistry Flashcards – Match Main Group Element Names and Symbols Holiday Theme: Christmas This is a printable set of flashcards that I put together to help students remember the names and symbols of the elements. I’ve used this kind of thing around December when everyone’s a bit tired but we still want to do something related to chemistry. The cards have either the name of an element or its symbol, and students just try to find the right pairs. It’s simple, but they really do remember more that way. There’s a bit of a seasonal theme to the design, which makes it feel different from the usual review work. You can use the cards in all sorts of ways — I’ve tried it as a memory game, or just as a quiet task for pairs. It depends on the group. For students who are still getting to know the periodic table, I just give them a smaller set with the first 20 or so elements. For stronger groups, they can use the full set and even add extra facts to each card while they’re working. You don’t need anything special to prep the game. I just print the cards on thicker paper and sometimes laminate them if I want to keep them for next year. Once they’re cut out, you can keep them in small envelopes or boxes, depending on how you like to organize your materials. It’s one of those things that’s easy to bring in when you need something hands-on but still subject-related. The students enjoy it more than a worksheet, and they do actually talk about the elements while they play, which is always a win. You can also use it as a station or a warm-up during December lessons. All the cards are included, along with a short explanation of how to use them. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Chemistry Pennant Banner – 50 Main Group Elements to Print
STEM, Science, Chemistry, Physics, Life Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Basic Science, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Homeschool Templates, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, Activities, Projects, Labs, Experiments, Classroom Decor, Door Decor, Bulletin Boards, Crafts, Centers, Banners
Printable Pennants: 50 Main Group Elements – Holiday Chemistry Decor (Christmas Theme) This is a printable banner I made for my chemistry classroom, mostly to bring a bit of colour and a seasonal touch in December while still keeping it content-related. It includes 50 of the main group elements from the periodic table, each one on a separate pennant with the name, symbol and atomic number. I hang them up across the whiteboard or on the classroom wall, and the nice thing is that the students walk past them all the time, so they kind of absorb the information without realising it. The look of the pennants is slightly Christmas-themed, nothing too much, just enough to feel like it fits the season. I’ve done it both ways – printing the coloured version myself and just hanging it up, or printing the black-and-white version and letting students decorate a pennant each. That version worked well with a lower energy group before the holidays, and they enjoyed adding small facts or drawings connected to their element. Some made it artistic, others just coloured it in, but it definitely helped with remembering. Depending on the class, I sometimes only use the first 20 elements, especially if we haven’t covered much of the table yet. But with older students, we’ve used all 50 and even turned it into a quick quiz – like who can find the halogens in the banner, or name something everyday that contains element 13. I usually print the pennants on slightly thicker paper so they hang nicely, and if I want to use them again next year, I laminate them. String or ribbon works well for hanging, and it only takes a few minutes to put it all together. It’s a small thing, but it brightens up the room and keeps the content in view. Everything’s included in the file – all the pennants and a short explanation. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Christmas Number Domino – Match Numbers and Number Words (0–30)
Montessori, Math, Numbers, Early Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Seasons, Winter, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Quizzes, Centers, Projects, Literacy Readers
Christmas Number Domino – Match Numbers and Number Words (0–30) I like using this Christmas number domino set when we need something calm but still meaningful in the weeks before winter break. Students match numbers with the written number words and gradually build one long domino chain together. The set focuses on numbers from 0 to 30. Each card shows a numeral on one side and the matching number word on the other. Students connect the cards by finding the correct matches, which also practices number recognition and reading at the same time. There are two versions included. One uses regular number words. The second version shows the words with syllable markings. I created this for students who still need help decoding longer number words or benefit from visual reading support. To make it easier to adapt, there are optional end cards for different ranges. You can limit the activity to 0–10, 0–20, or use the full 0–30 set. I usually start with a smaller range and add more cards once students feel confident. I’ve used this during math centers, for partner work, and also as a quiet early finisher activity. It works well because the structure is clear and students can play without much explanation. The domino cards can be printed on regular paper or on colored paper if you want to keep sets separate. I normally laminate them so they last for several seasons. Blank cards are included in case you want to add your own numbers or adjust the set. The design is winter-themed and works well in December lessons, but the focus stays on number practice and reading number words. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness

Gingerbread Man Early Cirriculum Inspiration Guide
Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Preschool, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, Activities
WHAT DOES THIS PACK COVER? This pack is themed around the traditional tale of ‘The Gingerbread Man’. It would be useful to have access to a copy (or several varying copies) of the story to read to your child, however if you do not have access to a version of the book you can use the flashcards in this pack to tell the story. This pack contains learning resources to develop young children’s skills in phonics, mathematics and motor skills. NOTE TO PARENTS / TEACHERS This pack contains a range of different resources designed to be used in multiple flexible ways. Our curriculum are rich in open ended resources as we believe in tailoring each activity / lesson to a child’s individual development. This guide contains some SUGGESTIONS on how you could use the resources included in this pack. This is by no means an exhaustive list and is designed to be a ‘starting point’ for you to develop your research and curriculum. EARLY YEARS & CHILD-LED The early years range is used to describe children below the age of 6 (in the UK), these packs are designed to assist children of this age to develop key skills needed for the future. Naturally, there is a huge difference between a child of 1 and a child of 5, therefore not all activities will be suitable for all ages. Most of the resources in this pack are designed to be used by children aged 2-5 however with adaptation older and younger children will enjoy joining in the activities. Most of these activities lend themselves to being set out in an ‘ activity ’ area or ‘play space’ to allow the child to choose what activities to complete and when. Child-led learning is a valuable part of the early years stage. Please Note: You can view all other items that would normally go with this guide as other products listed on my page including gingerbread man cut out, 5 currant buns poem and a gingerbread game.

Glitter Backgrounds – 12 Sparkling Designs for Worksheets, Slides, and Classroom Projects to Brighten Your Classroom Materials ✨ PNG + PDF + TIFF Over the years, I’ve found that even small visual changes can make a big difference when it comes to engaging students—especially with worksheets, bulletin boards, or presentations. That’s exactly why I created these glitter backgrounds. They add a little sparkle and visual interest without being too overwhelming or distracting. Sometimes it’s the background that helps set the mood for a lesson. In this set, you’ll find 12 glitter-style backgrounds, each in A4 format. I designed them using Procreate, and they’re available in three file types: PNG, PDF, and TIFF. That way, you can choose what works best for you—whether you're creating something for print or a digital format like Canva, PowerPoint, or Google Slides. What’s included: – 12 different glitter backgrounds (A4 size) – File formats: PNG (with transparency), PDF (ready to print), TIFF (high resolution) I’ve used these backgrounds in lots of different ways: as worksheet templates, as digital covers in GoodNotes, and even as backing pages for student booklets. Around the holidays, students love anything that sparkles—so I’ve used them for reflection prompts in December, festive games, or classroom posters. They’re also a nice way to elevate things like certificates, behavior charts, or project templates. The designs are colorful and textured, but still neutral enough to use across different subjects and age groups. A note on usage: You're welcome to use these backgrounds in your own classroom or in materials you create for your students. You can also use them in educational resources you plan to share or sell—just make sure your own content is clearly visible and that you credit my store or website when doing so. Wishing you lots of creative ideas and sparkly results! – Heike from @Lernfitness Did You Know? Bingo Game- Multiplication Tables 0,1,2,5, and 10-Christmas Sweaters
Math, Multiplication and Division, Multiplication, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Homeschool Curriculum, Grade 2, 3, Activities, Games
What a fun-filled way to review the tables for beginners working on 0,1,2,5,and 10 tables. This Christmas- themed game provides practice to build fluency in multiplying as described in CCSS. Math Content 3.NBT.A.3. Since it is limited to 0,1,2,5, and 10, it makes a good introductory to 3rd or the end of 2nd grade. You can run the cards off on cardstock, cut to size, and laminate them for a permanent game solution. You can also run them off on paper and have the students cross off the answer as they solve the problems. The game can be played by small groups at a center. I included blanks that students can use to create questions and boards. Based on your allowed time, you can play five in a row, just the corners, or cover the whole board. Since all of the possible combinations of multiplication problems are provided, there will be duplication of answers. I spread the calling cards out and as soon as I see an answer that will have duplicates ( for example the number 12), I remove duplicates as I come to them. Another way to handle this issue is to remove ahead or pick and choose groups of tables you want to concentrate your efforts on. 67 Meme Winter Plotting Points on the Coordinate Plane Pixel Art
Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Winter, Seasons, Geometry, Graphing, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Activities
This activity is based on the 67 viral meme, your students will go crazy. Trust me when I say that if you have ever attempted to incorporate coordinate plane practice in the winter months in the classroom, you know exactly what I am talking about: restless kids, short attention span, and anything resembling “schoolwork” gets the side eye. This pixel winter-themed project removes all of this stress from your shoulders. It provides your 5th or 6th-grade students with appreciable point-plotting practice while being different from the norm. The best part about this is how simple it is: Students put twenty coordinate pairs in the familiar drag-and-drop interface. With each correct point placed, students get a glimpse of a puzzle image hiding behind the coordinate grid. Piece by piece, the complete winter image emerges. Even those students who tend to zone out in graphing class sit up straight knowing there's going to be a reward in the form of unearthing a picture. It's not just another graphing project—it's like puzzle-solving. And the best part of this process? This process is completely self-checking. You don't have to be right there in front of the computer, adjusting and confirming if the point is in the correct spot. The lesson handles all of this information by itself. A point in the wrong spot simply means the image doesn't appear. The students learn from this process and try again. You can also use this resource in multiple ways; you can use it digitally in class practice or incorporate it in your homeward assignments as an interactive way to review. This resource works perfectly after demonstrating the coordinate graph in class for the first time, during a spiral review in the middle of the unit, or even right before class if there's going to be a test. This resource fits perfectly in class because of the wintery theme; in fact, it doesn’t cross over into anything holiday-related. Here's what's included: • Digital no-prep pixel art lesson • Twenty drag-and-drop ordered pairs with coverage of all four quadrants • Fully self-checking format featuring a winter mystery picture • Easy-to-follow student instructions • Ready-to-use environment that can be assigned in seconds Teachers appreciate that this activity is fresh and interesting yet not complicated. Students appreciate that this activity is like working on a puzzle compared to other math assignments. And you will appreciate that this process provides you with reliable data from practice without contributing more to your grading stack. This Mystery Picture Activity in math class would be the perfect way for your students to develop coordinate planes this winter if you want the students to have fun doing math assignments.

Printable Chemistry Pennants – Christmas Classroom Decor

Printable Chemistry Pennants – Christmas Classroom Decor I made this banner because I wanted something simple to hang in my classroom during the weeks before the holidays — something that looked nice but still connected to chemistry. These are small triangle flags, each showing one element from the main group, with symbol, name, and atomic number. The design has a bit of a holiday touch but it’s not loud or silly, so it works even if you don’t go all-in on Christmas decorations. What I like about it is that I can just print it, cut it out, and hang it up, and it brings colour to the room without much effort. The students walk past it every day, and after a while they start to recognise elements just from seeing them over and over again. It’s not a big thing, but I’ve noticed that small exposures like that can really help, especially for the students who don’t memorize things easily. I printed mine on heavier paper and used some string and tape to hang it across the whiteboard. One year I laminated them so I could use them again the next time, and they held up really well. You can hang them in a line, in clusters, or just tape them to cabinets or doors — whatever fits your classroom. Sometimes I also use them as a starting point. I might ask a student to pick one element from the banner and tell me something about it, or we do a quick warm-up based on the symbols they see. But most of the time, it’s just there, and that’s enough. It makes the space feel less grey in December, and still keeps the focus on science. It’s nothing complicated — just a printable you can use when you want something useful and a little seasonal. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? 67 Meme Winter Solving One Step Equations Pixel Art
Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Winter, Seasons, Algebra, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Activities
If "67" has taken over your classroom talk, now is the perfect opportunity to turn it into something useful. This Christmas one step equation pixel art task is riding off the back of the viral trend "67" and giving it a purposeful spin. Rather than seeing a math problem pop up, students see a task with an end goal, something they are curious about completing right away. Students complete twenty equations with one-step solutions for both positive and negative integers. The exercises involve all basic arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division so that the pupils get excellent practice without overwhelming them. Every time the child gives the correct answer to the equation, a part of a puzzle with a winter scenery will be revealed to the child, and in the end, the well-known number 67 will be visible in winter colors. The digital version is completely self-checking, providing immediate feedback to the student as they complete questions. Incorrect math problems will not be revealed by the picture, prompting the student to take another look and complete the problem again. I find this feature to give the student instant feedback and to give you time to assist other students as they complete independent practice activities. To offer further flexibility, printable versions are provided as choices. These same twenty equations can be found in a worksheet form, making it simple to assign for homework or in-class work without technology. You will also see a complete toolbox of printable task cards, great for centers, group work, or a scuttlebutt rotation. A complete answer key is provided for easy assessment or review by students. This activity is perfect when done in December, when children tend to be especially energetic and have a hard time sitting still. It’s exciting enough to be seasonal and entertaining, yet formalized enough to provide actual value in improving their expertise. It’s also a great go-to activity in case of an emergency sub plan with no prep work involved. The skills that have been reinforced are the following: performing operations on one-step equations involving all four operations and developing fluency with positive and negative integers. Students are getting repetition without boredom and feedback without frustration. If you want to bring a little bit of Christmas spirit into the mathematics portion of your day while still focusing on the teaching and the learning, the Winter 67 Pixel Art provides the perfect remedy. This is easy to assign and administer, and it is impossible to ignore, in the best possible way.

Grocery Game: Estimating, Adding, and Multiplying Decimals - Winter Holidays Edition
Life Studies, Math, Addition and Subtraction, Decimals, Multiplication and Division, Holiday & Seasonal, Kwanzaa, Holidays, Hanukkah, Christmas, Grade 4, 5, 6, 7, Activities, Games
Here's a fun way to practice operations with decimal numbers and money math! Play this whole-class grocery game and your students won't even notice how much decimal operations practice they are getting! Grocery Game: Estimating, Adding, and Multiplying Decimals - Winter Holidays Edition This resource is a fun, interactive math game designed for students in grades 4-7. It will help your students practice adding and multiplying decimals while they shop to hit the target amount! The game includes 4 rounds with grocery shopping items for Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa holidays. Every round presents five food items to the students who practice estimating costs to manage a given budget. Whole class activity: This engaging exercise makes learning mathematical concepts more concrete than abstract learning alone. Students are shopping for a purpose! Realistic applications make education impactful and enjoyable for students, and math games are always a hit with my students! How to Use: This is a fun, whole class activity that you need to be able to project in your classroom on an interactive whiteboard. It is a Powerpoint presentation so you can move the boxes that cover the prices of each item after the students have guessed the price- just like on a real game show! You give your students a target budget (for example between $50-52). The smaller the budget range, the more challenging it will be. Students have to buy at least four of the items. Ask one student to choose one item at a time. The student guesses the price and chooses how many they want to buy of it. Then you reveal the price, all of the students students calculate how much they have spent, and you move on to the next item! Grades to Use With: This is a fun math game for grades 4-7 when you are studying money, grocery shopping, and decimal operations. Even kids in middle school will have fun playing along! What's Included: A total of 6 pages in PowerPoint Format (so you can move the price covers once your students have guessed).
