Merry Christmas! Audio Book
Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Read Alouds, Activities

Kids will listen to “‘Twas The Night Before Christmas,” a traditional Christmas story written by Clement Clark Moore and first published in 1823. This nostalgic, rhyming poem describes Santa Claus and how he delivers presents to sleeping children while their father awakes to hear clattering on the lawn. In the next story “The Littlest Angel,” children learn that giving Christmas presents can be just as exciting as receiving them. Finally, in the classic story of “The Nutcracker,” young listeners will meet Marie, a little girl that receives a magnificent Nutcracker from a mysterious man named Herr Drosselmeyer. Traditional stories and classic Christmas songs will entertain eager children as they anticipate the arrival of Christmas morning.

Printable Chemistry Pennants – Christmas Classroom Decor

Printable Chemistry Pennants – Christmas Classroom Decor I made this banner because I wanted something simple to hang in my classroom during the weeks before the holidays — something that looked nice but still connected to chemistry. These are small triangle flags, each showing one element from the main group, with symbol, name, and atomic number. The design has a bit of a holiday touch but it’s not loud or silly, so it works even if you don’t go all-in on Christmas decorations. What I like about it is that I can just print it, cut it out, and hang it up, and it brings colour to the room without much effort. The students walk past it every day, and after a while they start to recognise elements just from seeing them over and over again. It’s not a big thing, but I’ve noticed that small exposures like that can really help, especially for the students who don’t memorize things easily. I printed mine on heavier paper and used some string and tape to hang it across the whiteboard. One year I laminated them so I could use them again the next time, and they held up really well. You can hang them in a line, in clusters, or just tape them to cabinets or doors — whatever fits your classroom. Sometimes I also use them as a starting point. I might ask a student to pick one element from the banner and tell me something about it, or we do a quick warm-up based on the symbols they see. But most of the time, it’s just there, and that’s enough. It makes the space feel less grey in December, and still keeps the focus on science. It’s nothing complicated — just a printable you can use when you want something useful and a little seasonal. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Dog Cards to Colour – Easy Classroom Activity for the Week Before Break I made these dog cards last year for my class because that last week before the holidays is always kind of messy and loud, and I just needed something simple and quiet. The idea was to have something that felt a bit festive without needing a lot of prep, and also without turning the classroom into glitter chaos. The cards are just black and white drawings of different dogs wearing hats or scarves, nothing complicated, just cute. I printed them out on slightly thicker paper, gave the kids pencils and markers, and that was it. Some of the students took a lot of time choosing which dog they liked best. Others just grabbed one and started colouring right away. A few wanted to do more than one. I didn’t make any rules around it. Some kids added a message inside, others didn’t. A couple of students wrote little notes to the janitor or their families. One card even ended up on the classroom door with a note for our imaginary school dog (we don’t actually have one, but they like to pretend). It was sweet. We didn’t tie it to any lesson plan, I didn’t grade it, and I didn’t ask for a final product. It was just something they could do to wind down. We listened to quiet music, and honestly, it was one of the calmest hours of the whole month. They were focused, but relaxed. And because it was dogs, even students who usually don’t enjoy drawing stayed with it. If I had to describe it, I’d say it’s a quiet little task that gives students something to do with their hands and minds when they don’t have a lot of focus left. Just print, hand out, and let them take it from there. No rules, no stress. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Gingerbread Man Early Cirriculum Inspiration Guide

Gingerbread Man Early Cirriculum Inspiration Guide
Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Preschool, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, Activities

WHAT DOES THIS PACK COVER? This pack is themed around the traditional tale of ‘The Gingerbread Man’. It would be useful to have access to a copy (or several varying copies) of the story to read to your child, however if you do not have access to a version of the book you can use the flashcards in this pack to tell the story. This pack contains learning resources to develop young children’s skills in phonics, mathematics and motor skills. NOTE TO PARENTS / TEACHERS This pack contains a range of different resources designed to be used in multiple flexible ways. Our curriculum are rich in open ended resources as we believe in tailoring each activity / lesson to a child’s individual development. This guide contains some SUGGESTIONS on how you could use the resources included in this pack. This is by no means an exhaustive list and is designed to be a ‘starting point’ for you to develop your research and curriculum. EARLY YEARS & CHILD-LED The early years range is used to describe children below the age of 6 (in the UK), these packs are designed to assist children of this age to develop key skills needed for the future. Naturally, there is a huge difference between a child of 1 and a child of 5, therefore not all activities will be suitable for all ages. Most of the resources in this pack are designed to be used by children aged 2-5 however with adaptation older and younger children will enjoy joining in the activities. Most of these activities lend themselves to being set out in an ‘ activity ’ area or ‘play space’ to allow the child to choose what activities to complete and when. Child-led learning is a valuable part of the early years stage. Please Note: You can view all other items that would normally go with this guide as other products listed on my page including gingerbread man cut out, 5 currant buns poem and a gingerbread game.

Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Christmas, Winter, Seasons, Fractions, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Activities

“67” may have become the de facto soundtrack to your classroom, and what better way to make the most of it? The Winter Fractions Pixel Art activity utilizes the phenomenon of the obsession with the number “67” and turns it into something positive and powerful for the math performance of your children. “ Twenty addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division equations are provided, ranging from basic to more challenging, to help students master the process of analyzing fractions. Correct solutions to all the exercises will unlock a corresponding image puzzle, and when completed, the solution to all the exercises will yield the magic number 67 in winter colors. It may not sound impressive to experienced teachers, but it is an effective tool to activate students’ learning on fractions when they feel they have seen it all before. It is fully self-checking, so there is instant feedback for the student. If they put in an incorrect answer, it won’t be visible in the picture, and they can rethink their problem. It also allows them to have confidence without you needing to continually check their work. There is also instant grading since it is completely no prep. It only takes seconds to assign. For flexibility, there are printable options included too. The same twenty problems involving fractions can also be taken as a worksheet, making it easy to assign it for homework, small group instruction, or days when it wouldn’t be ideal to have devices. A complete answer key is provided so it will remain quick and painless when it comes to grading. You will also have printable task cards perfect for math workshop, partners, or stations. Whether teaching online, offline, or a combination of both, this fits right in. This activity is best done in December and January when the attention span of the class is smaller and they need something just a bit different to hold their attention. It’s been formalized enough to provide for review days, casualized for centers, and stable enough to remain in your sub folder. Early finishers could complete this independently, and intervention groups could practice without becoming bombarded. Skills that have been reinforced include adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators, multiplying fractions, and dividing fractions. This way, students experience relevant repetition without feeling burned-out with fraction operations. A winter activity for your math class that offers fun along with learning and doesn’t contribute anything to your busywork is this fractions pixel art activity with a theme related to the number 67.

“I Have, Who Has?” – Number Words Game (Christmas Version)

“I Have, Who Has?” – Number Words Game (Christmas Version)
Holiday & Seasonal, Language Development, ELA, Special Resources, Special Education Needs (SEN), Math, Early Math, Numbers, Holidays, Christmas, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Projects, Flashcards, Centers

“I Have, Who Has?” – Number Words Game (Christmas Version) In my early elementary classes, I’ve often found that the weeks before winter break call for simple, low-pressure activities that still support learning. That’s why I’ve used this number word version of “I Have, Who Has?” so many times—especially with students who are still building confidence in recognizing numbers and reading number words. The game includes number ranges from 0 to 30, so it’s easy to adapt. For some groups, I only use 0 to 10. For others, I include more cards depending on how comfortable they are with the vocabulary. I’ve even used this as a listening activity in small ESL groups, because it gives students repeated exposure to spoken and written number words in a playful format. There’s also a version with syllable breaks, which helps a lot with early readers or children working on pronunciation. The way we usually play it is simple. Each student receives one or more cards, and the round begins when someone says, “I have one. Who has six?” The game continues until all cards have been played. It takes a few minutes for students to get used to the rhythm, but after that, they’re fully focused and often ask to play another round. It also works well when we play in a circle or in smaller groups during center time. What I like most about this game is that it helps students hear, read, and say numbers in context, without needing worksheets or flashcards. I’ve printed my sets on colored paper to help keep different levels organized, and I keep them in envelopes for easy access year after year. The prep is quick, and it fits easily into a short block of time—whether it’s a transition, a review session, or just something calm to end the day. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? I Have, Who Has? – Chemistry Element Symbols Game - Christmas Edition I started using this game as a simple way to review the periodic table, especially the main group elements. Over time, it’s become one of those go-to activities that just work – low prep, easy to explain, and students are surprisingly focused once it gets going. The idea is simple: each student gets one or more cards. A card might say, “I have Na. Who has the symbol for Oxygen?” Whoever has the right answer reads their card next, and the round continues until all cards are used. It’s nothing fancy, but it gets students speaking, listening, and thinking about element names and symbols without it feeling like a quiz. What I like is that you can use the game in different ways, depending on the class. In some groups, I stick to the first 20 elements. In others, we go all the way up to element 118. There are also versions where only the names are shown, only the symbols, or a mix of both – so you can adjust the difficulty. I’ve used it with students from grades 8 to 11, sometimes as a warm-up, sometimes as a review at the end of a unit. The materials are printable and easy to store. I’ve printed mine on colored paper to help sort the different versions. Laminating helps if you plan to reuse the cards from year to year, but even unlaminated sets hold up pretty well for a few rounds. It’s a quiet way to reinforce chemistry basics, especially when students need to move a bit or when you want to switch things up without losing content. In my experience, even students who usually hang back tend to join in, since the rules are simple and everyone has a role. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Chemistry Pennant Banner – 50 Main Group Elements to Print

Chemistry Pennant Banner – 50 Main Group Elements to Print

Printable Pennants: 50 Main Group Elements – Holiday Chemistry Decor (Christmas Theme) This is a printable banner I made for my chemistry classroom, mostly to bring a bit of colour and a seasonal touch in December while still keeping it content-related. It includes 50 of the main group elements from the periodic table, each one on a separate pennant with the name, symbol and atomic number. I hang them up across the whiteboard or on the classroom wall, and the nice thing is that the students walk past them all the time, so they kind of absorb the information without realising it. The look of the pennants is slightly Christmas-themed, nothing too much, just enough to feel like it fits the season. I’ve done it both ways – printing the coloured version myself and just hanging it up, or printing the black-and-white version and letting students decorate a pennant each. That version worked well with a lower energy group before the holidays, and they enjoyed adding small facts or drawings connected to their element. Some made it artistic, others just coloured it in, but it definitely helped with remembering. Depending on the class, I sometimes only use the first 20 elements, especially if we haven’t covered much of the table yet. But with older students, we’ve used all 50 and even turned it into a quick quiz – like who can find the halogens in the banner, or name something everyday that contains element 13. I usually print the pennants on slightly thicker paper so they hang nicely, and if I want to use them again next year, I laminate them. String or ribbon works well for hanging, and it only takes a few minutes to put it all together. It’s a small thing, but it brightens up the room and keeps the content in view. Everything’s included in the file – all the pennants and a short explanation. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Chemistry Flashcards – Match Main Group Element Names and Symbols Holiday Theme: Christmas This is a printable set of flashcards that I put together to help students remember the names and symbols of the elements. I’ve used this kind of thing around December when everyone’s a bit tired but we still want to do something related to chemistry. The cards have either the name of an element or its symbol, and students just try to find the right pairs. It’s simple, but they really do remember more that way. There’s a bit of a seasonal theme to the design, which makes it feel different from the usual review work. You can use the cards in all sorts of ways — I’ve tried it as a memory game, or just as a quiet task for pairs. It depends on the group. For students who are still getting to know the periodic table, I just give them a smaller set with the first 20 or so elements. For stronger groups, they can use the full set and even add extra facts to each card while they’re working. You don’t need anything special to prep the game. I just print the cards on thicker paper and sometimes laminate them if I want to keep them for next year. Once they’re cut out, you can keep them in small envelopes or boxes, depending on how you like to organize your materials. It’s one of those things that’s easy to bring in when you need something hands-on but still subject-related. The students enjoy it more than a worksheet, and they do actually talk about the elements while they play, which is always a win. You can also use it as a station or a warm-up during December lessons. All the cards are included, along with a short explanation of how to use them. 📍 Happy teaching, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know?
