Halloween Alphabet Memory & Word-Building Cards – Printable Game
Holiday & Seasonal, ESL, Language Development, ELA, Spelling, Pre-Reading, Special Resources, Special Education Needs (SEN), Halloween, Holidays, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Quizzes, Projects, Flashcards, Word Problems
Halloween Alphabet Memory & Word-Building Cards – Printable Game for Early Literacy This Halloween-themed alphabet game combines memory, word-building , and flashcard activities in one printable set. I like using it around late October, when students are full of seasonal excitement but still need meaningful literacy practice. The cards bring a festive touch without being too spooky for younger children. The set includes 29 different picture cards, each available in six color variations. Altogether, that makes 174 cards to choose from, which gives you flexibility in how you organize activities. You can play a classic memory game by matching letters and pictures, or you can use the cards for simple word-building tasks. In my kindergarten group, students enjoyed laying out the alphabet in order, while in grade 1, they started experimenting with making short words on their own. Because the cards are printable, you can decide how many to use at once. For early learners, I sometimes put out only a few letters so they don’t get overwhelmed. For older or more advanced students, I add time challenges or ask them to work in pairs to build longer words. ESL and EFL students also benefit from the clear visuals, which make the letter-sound connection easier to grasp. I recommend printing the cards on heavier paper and laminating them so they last beyond one season. Once prepared, they are easy to store in small envelopes or plastic bags, and you can bring them out again whenever you need a quick center activity or sub plan. This resource works well for literacy centers, partner games, or even as a calm activity at the end of the day. Whether you are focusing on alphabet recognition, phonics, or just want a light Halloween activity, the cards give you a simple, adaptable tool that supports both independent learning and group play. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein Gothic and Halloween Cryptograms Looking for a fresh way to engage your students with classic literature? This puzzle collection for Mary Shelley's Frankenstein transforms a timeless Gothic masterpiece into an interactive, hands-on experience. It's designed to bring the chilling story and its complex themes to life, one code at a time. This resource is more than a simple set of puzzles; it’s a tool for fostering both critical thinking and creativity. The collection features 21 cryptograms, each centered around a key quote from Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus . Unlike traditional linear puzzles, these are circular designs with two bands of symbols woven around intricate Celtic knotwork. Students must use logical reasoning and pattern recognition to decode the messages. The puzzles are also a creative outlet. Once the code is broken, students can color the detailed Celtic knotwork, turning their solved puzzle into a personalized art piece. This blend of analytical and creative work appeals to a wide range of learning styles and makes the challenging themes of the novel more memorable. This collection is a powerful supplement for your literature curriculum. It encourages students to engage directly with the source material by deciphering genuine quotes from both Victor Frankenstein and his creation. The puzzles help develop advanced problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of cryptography. The included literary guide provides a synopsis and context for each quote, allowing students to explore the novel's core themes of creation, responsibility, and social isolation . They can analyze the complex relationship between creator and creation and delve into discussions on science, ethics, and humanity

Get ready to rake up some gratitude with the Thankful Tree Writing Prompt! This Thanksgiving activity combines creativity and reflection to create a heartfelt masterpiece, and no actual leaves will clog your yard. Perfect for kids who are full of thanks (and maybe a little too much turkey), this activity invites them to write and draw about the people, things, and snacks they’re most grateful for. The fun starts with crafting their very own Thankful Tree. Each "leaf" becomes a blank canvas for kids to jot down what warms their hearts, like family, friends, and possibly an unhealthy obsession with mac and cheese. Once the writing’s done, it’s time to branch out with some drawing! Students can add colorful flair to their trees, turning their gratitude into an autumnal work of art. This activity is ideal for classrooms or as a family bonding moment that doesn’t involve fighting over the remote. By the end, kids will have a beautiful Thankful Tree they’ll be proud to display, and you’ll have a little peace and quiet, at least until dessert. Fun, festive, and packed with good vibes, this writing prompt is a must-have for spreading gratitude (and maybe sneaking in a little spelling practice). Let’s get thankful! Enjoy!

Halloween Alphabet Matching Game – Spot It Style Cards Early Literacy
Holiday & Seasonal, ESL, Language Development, ELA, Special Resources, Special Education Needs (SEN), Halloween, Holidays, Children’s Literature, Literature, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Quizzes, Projects, Flashcards, Word Problems
Halloween Alphabet Matching Game – Spot It Style Cards for Early Literacy This Halloween card set is based on the familiar “ Spot It” style game but adapted for alphabet and early literacy practice. I like to bring it out in late October when my class is full of energy but still needs structured learning. The mix of playful competition and letter recognition makes it a good fit for both Pre-K and early elementary groups. The set includes 93 cards in total, arranged as three complete decks with 31 cards each. Every card shows six different Halloween-themed pictures. The fun part is that any two cards always share exactly one picture in common. Students race to find the match between their card and the one in the center pile. Whoever names it first keeps the card. The round continues until the stack is finished, and the player with the most cards wins. There are three versions of the cards: round, square, and hexagonal. I usually print one full set, laminate it, and keep it in a small box for the season. The round cards feel most like the original game, while the square version is quicker to cut. The hexagons are eye-catching and add variety. In my kindergarten group, this game helped students practice quick recognition of letters and pictures. It also encouraged turn-taking and teamwork. For ESL learners, the visual clues and repeated naming of pictures gave extra support with vocabulary. Some of my students even started making up their own rules, such as timed rounds or team challenges, which kept the activity fresh. The game works well in literacy centers, as a short brain break, or as an activity for early finishers. It requires very little preparation beyond printing and cutting. Because it is flexible in design, you can use just part of the deck if you want a shorter game. This resource is best suited for preschool, kindergarten, and grade 1, but I have also seen older students enjoy it simply as a seasonal challenge. It is a playful way to bring some Halloween atmosphere into the classroom without losing the focus on learning. Warm regards, Lernfitness Did You Know?
