Unit Fractions Activity - Bingo Game - Fraction Symbols - Boards 26-30
Math, Fractions, Grade 2, 3, 4, Lesson Plans, Teacher Tools
Looking for a lively, interactive way to have your students practice unit fractions? You just might enjoy the math bingo game provided with this teaching resource. It has been designed specifically with educators in mind, offering a dynamic approach for familiarizing kids grades 2 through 4 with unit fractions. Included in this resource are five distinct fraction-themed bingo boards rendered both in color and black and white. Equipped to accommodate all types of learners, these engaging games promise an effective learning experience. The boards host fraction symbols as blocks that young learners can mark off as they identify their corresponding expressions from the calling cards. Four sets of different calling cards offer diverse interpretations of the same fractions as circles, squares, strips and symbols promoting a flexible understanding of unit fractions by providing visual variations. To further allow personalized use within classrooms or homeschooled settings, these cards are available in both color and printable black-and-white versions -- laminatable for longevity. The game rules are simple yet impactful: Each student is given at least seven playing squares (or other markers such as buttons or counters) and one bingo board. As the educator displays or reads out content from randomly picked calling cards from shuffled deck each learner must identify matching block on their card marking it till he/she gets 'Bingo', achieving three marked blocks consecutively vertically horizontally or diagonally. This fun activity energizes individual learners when played solo or creates an inclusive environment during group sessions: a whole class at school, small groups in study sessions or even pair-based competition! The game can be concluded within one session or spread across many days whereby turning into repeated engagements cum homework assignments that maintain regular fractional number practices among students. Please remember that each match permits only one block covered per turn not malleable after turn completion despite multiple potential matches on board. This multi-faceted educational resource will enable your students to explore unit fractions in a fun, experiential manner using a time-tested game format that makes math learning less intimidating and more inclusive. Instill the joy of comprehension through play with this math bingo kit today.

About Dolch Sight Words: In 1948, Edward William Dolch, PhD created his list of the most common 220 words and 95 nouns in children’s books. These words were then divided into grade levels, including pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and verbs. Nouns made up a separate list of 95 words. The list used 220 “service words” that should be easily recognized in order for students to become fluent in reading. The Dolch words are “Sight Words” because many of them cannot be sounded out. Instead, they must be learned by sight. In other words, memorization. These sight words provide a basis for reading at a young age. Students must become familiar with these words as they begin to read in order to become successful readers as they progress through their academic career.

Do you have a pupil who is still confusing 'b' and 'd' in Grade 2 or 3 or above? Then help is at hand. I have created this 'B' or 'D' phonics presentation to help children like these. I have tried every method under the sun and find this one works best - the use of the 'b' hand. Here, attached to them, goes everywhere with them, is a ready-made tool with which to check 'b's' and 'd's'. NOTE: I deliberately do not teach a child that one hand can make a ‘b’ shape and the other a ‘d’. Children with a processing difficulty need things kept as simple as possible, and that could well make them even more confused. How will they remember which hand is which? They will not just have b/d confusion but hand confusion too! Therefore, do not suggest such to your child, and if they notice for themselves, agree and do not dwell on it. Instead, stress the use of the ‘b hand’ to help with the identification of ‘b’, and if it is not the same shape as the ‘b hand’, then it is a ‘d’. For 'd', we rely on correct letter formation, saying C-D to help the child train the muscles, which in turn trains the eyes. Help the child practice writing the letters as demonstrated in this video. The training of muscle memory is a valuable multisensory tool. The eyes, the ears, the mouth and the hand all work together. Who is the 'B' or 'D' phonics presentation for? Parents Teachers home educators Tutors How should it be used? This is a video. Run the video, but stop anytime your pupil needs extra space to think.
