Martin Luther King Jr. One Step Equations Pixel Art NO NEGATIVES

Martin Luther King Jr. One Step Equations Pixel Art NO NEGATIVES
Math, Algebra, Grade 6, 7, 8, Activities

This activity is a fun and engaging way for students to practice one-step equations while having fun and looking for a mystery picture. The activity features 20 one-step equations for students to solve, and as they correctly answer the questions, a mystery picture (Martin Luther King Jr. themed) will be revealed. The design of the activity makes it easy for students to self-check their answers, letting them receive immediate feedback and quickly identify and correct any mistakes they make. The activity is suitable for middle school students but has been specifically designed for sixth graders. It’s great that this activity is easy to implement in the classroom. All you need to do is share the link with the students and they are ready to go! The activity is designed to be engaging and interactive, so even the most reluctant students will be motivated to participate. By combining problem-solving with a mystery picture reveal, it encourages students to engage with the material and work towards a concrete goal, helping them to stay motivated and focused throughout the activity. The answers include only positive integers, so students will have the opportunity to practice working with both types of numbers. A printable version of the questions and answers is also included, making it easy to use in the classroom or at home. I used this activity as a sub plan with sixth graders, and they loved it. They where so engaged. Now I give them a pixel art activity as a price, if they are well behaved or on Fridays, or as homework if they need some extra practice. It is also a great activity to assign to fast finishers. Since this activity is online there is no need for Google or Microsoft logins. What's Included: Pdf with the link to the activity printable version of the questions Solutions

Nonsense Words

Nonsense Words
ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Decoding made-up “nonsense words” evaluates a student’s ability to apply phonics rules to read unfamiliar terms. These worksheets provide valuable practice sounding out invented words that have no actual meaning. Exercises in identifying, building, reading, and writing nonsense vocabulary strengthen essential phonics and phonemic awareness skills. Each activity page displays a series of fake words following basic pronunciation rules, like jav, sut, yox. Students must read these sounds fluently to complete tasks like differentiating real vs nonsense words, writing rhyming nonsense words, building words using letter banks, and filling in nonsense words into sentences. Because the words have no context clues in vocabulary or pictures, students can only figure them out by blending letter sounds. Mastering nonsense word reading proves true decoding ability beyond memorization. Worksheets are ideal for assessment or targeted phonics practice. Recognizing the difference between real words and imaginary creations requires analyzing letter patterns, discriminating sounds, and applying “decoding logic”. These critical abilities underpin all reading proficiency. Give emerging readers engaging practice with the building blocks of language through these purposeful nonsense word activities. This resource contains 11 worksheets each with different eye catching and fun illustrations and themes that children can color when they are decoding the words.. Basic Reading Comprehension

Basic Reading Comprehension
ELA, Reading, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Emerging readers need practice moving from decoding words to comprehending passages. These worksheets use simple stories and comprehension questions to build important literacy foundations. Featuring short paragraphs with CVC vocabulary and matching exercises, these materials help pave the way for reading proficiency. Each page includes a short narrative using basic sight words and repetitive consonant-vowel-consonant terms. This allows young readers to focus on making meaning from the passage, rather than struggling through complex words. After reading, students answer reading comprehension questions relating to story details and events. Each comprehension has 3 levels of questions - one easy multiple choice question with pictures, one where children take information directly from the text and one where they have to use inference to work out the answer. The vocabulary aligns with early phonics lessons to reinforce letter-sound relationships too. Parents and teachers can track progress across the repetitive activities. Designed for independent practice or small groups, these worksheets gently move students from reading words to sentences to grasping messages. Comprehending stories, even simple narratives, builds literacy confidence and skills. Sequencing events, making inferences, and summarizing meaning are more than just reading - they are the foundation for academic success across subjects.
