Elapsed Time: Perfect Day Math Project with Time Intervals
Math, Time, Measurements, Grade 3, 4, 5, 6, Activities, Projects, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
When teaching elementary students about elapsed time, make it personal and fun! This easy-to-use math project lets students in grades 3-6 learn about measuring the duration of time (time intervals) as they plan their perfect day. Students learn what elapsed time is and practice calculating it with a sample schedule of a teacher’s perfect day (don't worry, I included a Target run AND a nap!). Then they create their own perfect 15-hour day and calculate the elapsed time of each of their 10 activities. They can write elapsed times in hours and minutes (1 hour and 35 minutes) or in minutes only (95 minutes). They cross-check their math by adding up all 10 elapsed times and seeing if they equal the total awake time of their day (15 hours). They can use a variety of strategies to calculate elapsed time: subtraction, counting on, counting back, benchmarks, and/or number lines. Grades to Use With: This math project is designed for students in grades 3-6 who are learning about elapsed time and practicing calculating more challenging time intervals. In the USA, this is in Common Core Standards in the third grade and in British Columbia, Canada, it is addressed in Grade 5. What's Included: 3 Page PDF: Title Page, Teacher's Schedule, Student's Schedule If you enjoy this math project , check out others in my store! Energy Flow Through Ecosystems Word Wall Coloring Sheets (6 pgs.)
Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Environmental Science, Life Sciences, Biology, Grade 9, 10, 11, 12, Coloring Pages, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
The Ecosystem Energy Flow Set comprises key terms: Consumer, Producer, Food Chain, Food Web, Energy Pyramid, and Trophic Levels. Coloring pages have gained immense popularity worldwide. Explore my latest series of word wall coloring pages to infuse color and engagement into your middle and high school science classes. Word Walls, initially an elementary teaching tool, has proven successful when incorporated into secondary education. In Texas, my administrators encouraged its use in our classrooms, leading to remarkable outcomes. Students embraced the task of designing word wall displays, fostering pride in their contributions. This dynamic display sparked interaction as students admired each other's creations. Over time, I observed students frequently glancing at the word wall, particularly during spontaneous quizzes or warm-up exercises. The word wall bolstered their retention of vocabulary, providing a constant reference point. Each word wall poster features a coloring section for students, alongside designated areas for scientific definitions, synonyms/examples, antonyms/non-examples, and sentence construction using the word. To assist students struggling with word wall activities, I developed coloring pages. While self-motivated artists can opt for a blank template , these coloring pages offer a creative outlet for those seeking guidance. I've found word walls particularly effective post-tests, for introducing new vocabulary in a relaxed manner, as substitute assignments, and for extra credit. They also serve as an enjoyable means to revisit challenging words.

J. Robert Oppenheimer: Graphic Organizer
Social Studies, History, History: USA, History: World, Grade 6, 7, 8, Teacher Tools, Graphic Organizers
This J. Robert Oppenheimer: Graphic Organizer resource is focused on J. Robert Oppenheimer, a pivotal figure in 20th-century science and the development of the atomic bomb. Julius Robert Oppenheimer was not only an exceptional physicist but also a key player in shaping the course of history during World War II through his involvement with the Manhattan Project. Born in New York City in 1904, Oppenheimer's early years were marked by outstanding academic achievements. He pursued studies at esteemed institutions such as Harvard University and later secured his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of Göttingen, Germany. His contributions spanned various facets of quantum mechanics and quantum field theory. However, his paramount influence emerged during the turbulent years of World War II. In 1942, Oppenheimer assumed the role of scientific director for the Manhattan Project, an initiative that bore heavy consequences with the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. His expertise and leadership were invaluable to the project's culmination. Post-war, Oppenheimer's journey continued in both academic circles and governmental sectors. He chaired the General Advisory Committee of the United States Atomic Energy Commission, advocating for judicious control over atomic energy. Regrettably, the McCarthy-era cast shadows over his accomplishments, leading to the revocation of his security clearance in 1954, a decision that was later revised, albeit not entirely overturned. Oppenheimer's passing in 1967 left behind a legacy characterized by brilliance, innovation, and moments of controversy. To aid in bringing this influential figure's narrative to our students, I've prepared a comprehensive overview of Oppenheimer's life, both preceding and following the Manhattan Project. This resource is complemented by 10 reading comprehension questions, alongside a detailed teacher key, ensuring a holistic teaching experience. It's formatted to be effortlessly integrated into our curriculum. Product Clipart: Prince Padania

Thurgood Marshall Introductory Reading
Social Studies, History, History: USA, Grade 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
Thurgood Marshall was a prominent figure in American history, known for his significant contributions to the civil rights movement and his groundbreaking work as a lawyer and judge. He was born on July 2, 1908, in Baltimore, Maryland, and passed away on January 24, 1993. Marshall attended Howard University School of Law and became involved in civil rights activism early in his career. He was a founding member of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF) and served as its chief counsel for several years. As a lawyer, Marshall played a pivotal role in challenging racial segregation and fighting for equal rights in the United States. One of Marshall's most notable achievements was his successful argument before the Supreme Court in the case of Brown v. Board of Education in 1954. As the lead attorney for the LDF, Marshall argued that racially segregated public schools were unconstitutional and violated the Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection Clause. The Court ruled in favor of Marshall's argument, declaring that segregation in public education was inherently unequal and therefore unconstitutional, leading to the desegregation of schools across the country. In 1967, Thurgood Marshall made history again when he became the first African American to serve as a Supreme Court Justice. He was nominated by President Lyndon B. Johnson and served on the Supreme Court for 24 years until his retirement in 1991. During his tenure, Marshall consistently advocated for civil rights, social justice, and equality. He often took progressive stances on issues such as affirmative action, voting rights, and criminal justice reform. Marshall's legacy extends beyond his legal accomplishments. He was a staunch defender of individual rights and believed in using the law as a tool for social change. His work paved the way for future civil rights advancements and inspired generations of lawyers and activists to fight for justice and equality. Thurgood Marshall's impact on American society, his commitment to civil rights, and his trailblazing achievements in the legal field make him an influential and revered figure in the history of the United States. This is a simple worksheet with comprehension questions to help students understand the impact and life of Thurgood Marshall. Clipart credit: PrincePadania
