What You Get: This is aCharacter Comparison Activitythat was designed for upper elementary students who have learning or are reviewing this skill. This resource is a 4-page printable. How To Implement This Resource: You will print off enough copies for each student to have. Students will read the 3-page story titled “The Puffed Up Pig.” Because this is a comprehension activity, it’ll be most beneficial to allow students to read this story more than once. You might choose to begin by reading it as a whole group. For a second read, you can have students read it with a partner or in a small group. For a final read, have students read the story independently. When students have finished reading, they will select 2 characters from the story that they want to compare. They will write similarities and differences for the characters and draw a sketch to represent each one. I hope you enjoy! With this letter M sorting activity, students will practice letter recognition and distinguishing between capital letters and lowercase letters with this letter M sorting activity. This activity has a zoo or monkey theme. This sorting activity is suitable for preschool and kindergarten students who are learning to recognize the letter M and to distinguish between capital letters and lowercase letters. Students can use this literacy center independently or in pairs to sort each letter to the correct mat. What is Included: * One capital letter sorting mat * One lowercase letter sorting mat * 12 capital letter cards and 12 lowercase letter cards When to Use: * Literacy Center * Sorting Center * Fine Motor Activity * Small Group Activity * Morning Tub or Basket Activity * File Folder Activity * Independent Practice * Baking Tray Activity Skills Assessed: * Letter Recognition * Distinguishing between capital and lowercase letters * Sorting Skills How to Play Place each of the mats side by side on a flat surface. Give the students the cards to sort into the correct sorting mat * File Folder Game - Glue the mats inside a file folder, one on either side of the inside of the folder. Use loop and hook fasteners (if desired) to place the cards on the correct sorting mat. * Baking Tray Game - Place the mats side by side on a baking tray. Place magnets on the back of the cards so they stick to the mats on the cookie sheet when sorted. This sorting activity is low prep. The teacher needs to print out the mats and card pages. The card pages need to be cut out so students can sort them. The pages can be laminated if desired so that this sorting activity can be used over and over.

This game strengthens ability to hear and manipulate the /m/ sound at the start of words. The printable activity includes a full color and black and white game board, die, and game pieces for 1-2 players. To play, students roll the die, move their marker, and cover a corresponding picture on the game board. Teachers can adjust rules for individual, partner or whole group play. Use Letter M Games during small groups, literacy rotations, or as an independent early finisher activity to reinforce the letter M sound. This letter M emergent reader is a great book for practicing beginning sounds. This book is a low prep activity for students to make and take home to practice the initial sound of the letter M. These beginning readers are perfect for any preschool or kindergarten classroom where students are learning about letters and letter sounds. This emergent reader includes a cover page and seven different "M is for..." pages that all focus on the most common sound of the letter M in the initial position of the word. What is Included: * Letter M emergent reader cover page. * M is for mailbox. * M is for map. * M is for milk. * M is for mittens. * M is for money. * M is for moon. * M is for mountain. Students can be guided to color each picture first and then cut the pages apart. There are two emergent reader pages for each printed page. The pages will then be stapled together in a book for students to read over and over to practice the letter M sound. All pictures in this book focus on the initial /m/ sound. The pages can be stapled together in any order as long as the cover page is on top. This is a File Folder Game called Honey Bee Vowel Teams. It is for Long e and Long i. This product includes: 2 Versions of the phonics game, Honey Bee Vowel Teams, Long ē & Long ī are included. Level 1: This version is appropriate for most kindergarten to 1st grade students. However, this version may be suitable for some 2nd and even 3rd graders who are still developing their phonics skills. Level 2: This version is appropriate for most 2nd – 3rd grade students. However, some kindergarten or 1st graders may be ready for the challenge. Both Level 1 and Level 2 versions of the game include the following: Game Cover Sheet (attach to the front of a file folder) Instead of attaching the game covers to the front of the folder, you could utilize both versions of the game by attaching Level 1 to one side and Level 2 to the other. This option allows for more differentiation and student choice. Honeycomb Game Board (2 slides – attach to the inside of the file folder) Spinner 16 Bee Markers (4 teal, 4 green, 4 pink, 4 purple) Directions Word List All you have to do is print and get everything assembled. You will: Glue the cover sheet on the front of the file folder. Print the game markers and spinner on cardstock. You can also laminate to make them more durable. Put the two game board pages together like this on the inside of the file folder Puncture a hole in the middle of the spinner board. Students can use a pencil and paper clip to make a spinner. Another option is to attach a brass fastener (brad; split pin) to the center of the spinner board instead of using a pencil.
