Miss Marple – A Classic Movie Detective

Miss Marple – A Classic Movie Detective
Social Studies, Biographies, ELA, Reading, Literature, Writing, Creative Writing, Drama, Creative Arts, Literary Devices, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Quizzes, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Projects, Activities, Writing Prompts, Literacy Readers

Miss Marple – A Classic Movie Detective A reading-based worksheet set with optional film tasks (grades 7–10) 🎥🕵️‍♀️ A printable and digital resource This material introduces students to the character of Miss Marple as portrayed by Margaret Rutherford in the classic black-and-white crime comedies based on Agatha Christie’s novels. Whether your students are already familiar with detective fiction or encountering it for the first time, this resource offers a simple and accessible way to combine reading skills, character study, and media analysis. The core of the material is a short informational text that provides background on the character and the actress who portrayed her. Students work with a structured profile sheet and a short quiz to reinforce their understanding. If you choose to watch a Miss Marple film with your class, there are two additional worksheets: one for summarizing the movie plot and one for writing a short review. What’s included: Informational text about Miss Marple and Margaret Rutherford Worksheet to create a character profile Quiz questions with solution key Film content worksheet (optional use) Film review worksheet (optional use) Solutions for all main tasks Format: PDF (print-friendly and digital) How it works in class: This is the kind of resource I like to keep on hand for flexible lessons. It works well as a quiet reading and writing task on its own, or as part of a small media project. Watching one of the Miss Marple films adds variety to the lesson and gives students a chance to apply what they’ve learned in a fun and creative way. The film-related worksheets are structured, so even students with less writing experience can follow along easily. Great for regular lessons, substitute plans, or simply when you want to bring a bit of classic British mystery into your classroom. Warmly, Lernfitness Did You Know? I teach with a certified therapy dog, and together we focus on creating a positive and inspiring learning environment.

Reading Comprehension Passages Fiction Set 1 Snapshot Title: Reading Comprehension: Fiction Grade 4–5 Animals Genre: Fiction anthology (short animal-themed stories, plus a few informational-style passages) Subject: Reading (ELA) Primary Topic: Animal-themed short texts and comprehension practice Estimated Guided Reading Level (A–Z): Q What This Teaches Best Reading comprehension across multiple short texts (students answer “Mixed Questions” on plot details, vocabulary-in-context, and reasoning tied to each passage). Character feelings and traits from evidence (e.g., fear, relief, helpfulness, responsibility, truthfulness, and teasing/bullying moments are shown through dialogue and actions). Sequencing and cause/effect (several lessons ask students to put events in order, matching what happened first/next/last in the story). Vocabulary development in authentic context (words like cautiously, evaporate, tournament, responsibility, and endangered appear in the reading passages and are reused in skill pages). Cross-curricular knowledge through reading (animal care/adoption, zoo habitats/endangered species, and Chinese New Year traditions are explained within the texts). Learning Goals Identify key events in a short story and explain how they connect in order. Describe a character’s feelings or traits using specific details from the text. Determine the meaning of unfamiliar words and phrases using context clues. Explain a problem and solution in a passage using text evidence. Compare how different passages present animal-related situations (pets, wildlife, zoo animals, or traditions). Passages Include 1.Donny's Glasses: Donny is being chased by a monster. Fall Alphabet Match Game – Uppercase and Lowercase Letter Center

Fall Alphabet Match Game – Uppercase and Lowercase Letter Center
Holiday & Seasonal, ESL, Language Development, ELA, Special Resources, Special Education Needs (SEN), Children’s Literature, Literature, Seasons, Fall, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Quizzes, Projects, Flashcards, Word Problems

Fall Alphabet Match Game Uppercase and Lowercase Letter Center Spot It Style Cards for Early Literacy This fall-themed alphabet game is a playful way for students to practice uppercase and lowercase letters. The activity is based on a “find the match” system: each card has exactly one letter in common with another card, and students have to be the first to spot it. I have used this kind of game format with kindergarten and first grade, and it usually gets the whole group involved quickly. The set includes 93 cards in total, divided into three different versions of 31 cards each. There are round cards, hexagons, and squares. I usually prepare the square version when I need something quick to cut, but the round cards feel more like a traditional game and always catch students’ attention. The hexagons are a nice option if you want a different look. Each card shows six pictures, with the letters hidden among them, so students have to focus closely to find the match. This type of activity works well for building letter recognition, both uppercase and lowercase. It also helps with visual perception, concentration, and taking turns in a group setting. In my classroom, I sometimes keep the game in a literacy center, and other times I use it as a quick warm-up before a reading lesson. It is flexible enough to use in small groups, partner work, or even as an early finisher option. The set also comes with tally sheets, which give students an extra chance to record their letters and practice writing. Some of my students liked keeping track of their matches this way, which turned the game into a mix of play and writing practice. Preparation is simple: print the cards, cut them apart, and laminate if you want them to last longer. Once made, they store easily in a small envelope or box and can be used again each fall. This resource is designed for kindergarten and the early grades, but older students sometimes enjoy it as a quick challenge too. The fall theme makes it seasonal, without being too spooky, so it works well throughout September, October, and November . Warm regards, Lernfitness Did You Know?
