Students are meant to read the chapter, then answer the matching questions for that chapter. Teachers can choose to hand the questions out one chapter at a time, or group them into sections. A natural section break is provided in this guide with assessment-style puzzles. Teachers can hand out the chapter sections, followed by the assessment puzzle. About the Chapter Worksheets: Each chapter includes 4 pages: a Vocabulary page, Short Answer page, Long Answer page, and Answer Key. Vocabulary: 10 words taken from the chapter are listed with their meanings. 10 fill-in-the-blank questions are given. Students must finish each sentence using a vocabulary word. If you have read this story with your students, this is an activity packet that will pair well for your little learners. All you have to do is print and go. With this story, the students will be completing two activities. On page 3, students are coloring by numbers. it features a picture of the old lady. As you can see, there is still room for individual creativity as students have two areas for which they can choose the colors of their choice. The colors students will get to practice with are: Gray Tan / Peach Brown Colors of their choice for numbers 4 and 5 on the picture. The color by number will also have students practice with numbers 1-5. Pages 4 and 5 go together as a retell activity . Students will color both pages. On page 4, you can see the area that needs to be cut out. For page 5, students will find and color the items that the old lady swallowed. For page 5, you may use a real popsicle stick and glue the food items to it. This will be cut out also. As students retell the story, they will move the food items to the old lady’s opened mouth one at a time.
