The Executive Mastery Framework: A Developmentally Scaffolding Curriculum for Neurodiverse Learners "In The Executive Mastery Framework: A Developmentally Scaffolding Curriculum for Neurodiverse Learners," you will find a digital workbook, guide for educators, and other resources that support executive function development in neurodiverse individuals. The 30-page workbook and teacher resource guide provide a new perspective by shifting away from deficit-based models to a neuro-affirming outlook; it equips teachers, parents, and professionals with usable tools and strategies to build external cognitive supports that develop into the internalized capability of neurodiverse individuals. Target Audience of This Curriculum: This Curriculum was designed for use with students who present Neurodiverse profiles. The key characteristics of these profiles include ADHD, autism, dyslexia, executive dysfunction, or NVLD. The curricula analyzed within this PDF have been organized according to developmental progression from Pre-K to 2nd Grade, 3rd to 5th Grade, Middle School/6th to 8th grade, and High School/9th to 12th grade and beyond. Pre-K to 2nd Grade: The focus on early childhood developmentally appropriate foundational learning skills which includes the topics of use of environmental prosthetics, somatic awareness (awareness of the body), impulse inhibition, and developing an ability to co-regulate (worksheets 1 - 2). This would be appropriate for a 4 to 8-year-old child who is either autistic or has ADHD and experiences difficulty with sensory predictability or emotional regulation. 3rd to 5th Grade: Students at this grade level should be practicing the skills of upper elementary school co-regulated navigation, working memory expansion, and task initiation (worksheets 3 - 4). This would be appropriate for any student who displays signs of experiencing transitional anxiety or experiencing a working memory bottleneck. Middle School/ 6th to 8th Grades: The students in this age group should be able to internalize their tooling, develop cognitive flexibility, and work on their organizational systems (worksheets 5 - 6). This would apply to an adolescent who would display signs of experiencing difficulties with social hierarchies or temporal discounting due to their ADHD or AuDHD profile. High School/ 9th to 12th and Transition to Adulthood: Students should be developing their metacognitive self-advocacy skills, time management skills, goal persistence, vocational navigation skills, and independence (worksheets 7 - 10). This would apply to any teen or young adult who is preparing to enter college, work, or request the need for accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act due to severe executive dysfunction. This curriculum can be used in a variety of settings including: special education classes, home schooling, therapy sessions, implementation of an IEP, or within an inclusive classroom setting, ages 4-20+. With these shape dot painting pages, students can practice forming 2D shapes by using cotton swabs. These dot painting pages provide a new, fun and unique way for preschoolers and kindergartners to practice recognizing different 2D shapes. The hands on nature of these dotting pages allow students to stay engaged as they learn about each 2D shape. What is Included: Each shape worksheet features the shape's name at the bottom for students to read or trace. The are 13 different shapes in this packet: rectangle, square, circle, oval, trapezoid, triangle, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, rhombus, diamond, heart and star. There are two different sets of shape dot painting pages. One dot painting page lets students trace the shape's name and the other simply names the shape. How to Use: Students will use cotton swabs to dot the perimeter of each 2D shape. If cotton swabs are not available, or the teacher wishes to use a different method, students can use their fingers to dot each circle or small stickers to cover each dot. Where to Use: Math or Art Center - Simply place these pages with cotton swabs and paint in the desired center for students to complete. Morning Work - These worksheets are perfect for students to work on while they wait for the rest of their classmates arrive to class. Phonics / Digraphs for 1st and 2nd Grade: Beginning, Middle, and Ending Sounds

This unit focuses on the Beginning, Middle and Ending Digraph sounds. Learning how to read can be the most challenging activity for many students and for a teacher. A digraph in the English language are two letters put together that represents a single sound or phoneme. Understanding that the combination of letters can make one sound can be difficult to master and requires repetitive practice of reading and writing these words with these sounds. There are other phonics units that I sell that focuses on the Beginning Digraph sounds, and one that focuses on just the Ending Digraph sounds. Reading can be made easier with these phonic helps that repeatedly encourage students to practice these Beginning, Middle and Ending Digraph sounds. Activities include reading comprehension and identifying the digraphs in their reading, writing their answers to questions regarding the paragraph, identifying additional digraph words in sentences using a word bank, matching words with pictures, spinning a paperclip activity where students will write the word with the digraph sound, and lastly a fun wordsearch with the digraph words. These activities are for each digraph so there is plenty of opportunities for students to practice their comprehension reading skills and phonic sounds. Students will practice the following Beginning, Middle and Ending Digraph sounds: ch, sh, th, wh, and ph. Teachers can use this resource in whole group, individually with students, students can practice with each other in centers, or they can be assigned as homework. Worksheets are also differentiated for each Beginning, Middle and Ending Digraph sound for all young learners which makes it perfect for all 1st - 2nd graders. A total of 33 pages full of reading and phonic activities. Along with reading and writing, there are matching, cutting, and pasting activities. Word searches and spin and make a word activity are also a part of this packet which make learning to read these phonic sounds entertaining for young learners. This is a pack of 23 phonic worksheets for the Split Vowel U-E (as in true and tune) specially designed for those with special needs, including those with dyslexia or who may be suspected of being dyslexic but will work equally well with young learners in Kindergarten/EYFS/Y1. A pack of 23 worksheets with a variety of exercises to help build phonemic awareness and reading fluency. These sheets are LETRS and UK GOV requirements aligned. These worksheets also align with the most popular phonic programmes, including RWI and Letters and Sounds. What is included? 30 worksheets for the sound EA taking pupils from hearing the sounds in words to reading and spelling them at word and sentence level. all following my special method devised as I privately tutor children of all ages with profound special needs. Your phonics lessons are covered! Tracking, fluency triangles, spelling, reading, games, comprehension exercises....and more! Who are these worksheets for? I have written them for pupils who struggle with processing information - especially sounds. This includes children who are DYSLEXIC or have ANY other kind of processing disorder. Such children may have failed with other methods of teaching phonics. Such pupils need activities that: ·are highly structured - one tiny step at a time building on the one before using only a limited number of words to start with and only using words that the child has already learnt to sound out, with no nasty surprises. ·Have only a little on each pageas these pupils tire easily. What makes these worksheets special? I have a powerful three-step process which I use with my special needs pupils, which is worked out over the course of the 23 worksheets: 1. See it!where we focus on becoming aware of the new sound in words. This involves first hearing the new sound in words and then seeing it in words (tracking). 2. Sound-it-out!Having learnt to see the new sound in words, we learn to sound out these words to read and write them. We begin by usingsound-it-out boxesfor reading and spelling which help the child to segment the word prior to blending the sounds together. Once the child can read and write individual words, we work on fluency by building familiarity with the common words in the new sound family. Once the child can sound the words out to read and spell confidently, we move on to recognising them/using them in longer reading and dictation passages, as soon as the child is able. I provide 2 reading passages with comprehension exercises and one dictation passage, with a page in the workbook dedicated to it, with room for a picture, which again cements understanding. 3. Write it! Incorporated into the above two steps, we constantly write the new sound. This adds a multi-sensory dimension to our work - we see with our eyes, we sound it with our mouth parts and voice, and then we move by writing. All three steps work together to help the child feel in control of his/her learning and to become a successful, confident learner. We finish each sound with a dictation which culminates our work before we move on to the next sound. I try to give the dictation a week after we finish the work on the EA sound to act as revision. The dictation: Read this passage to your pupil, who should write it. Have the child read his/her work and check for errors. Make sure the writing is completely accurate before saying the child has finished, including full stops and capital letters correctly used. Flashcards are included of some common EA words. This Guided Reading Book - Simple Machines at Home (Level B) includes: Guided Reading Color Label (front cover x1) This is a quick way to match the book’s demands to what students can generally handle.. The overall goal is to use the level/color to pick books for several smaller groups. To qualify for a certain level, a student is expected to read a book from that level with about 90–94% accuracy. If a student is consistently accurate and understands, move up a level. If the student is struggling at that level, drop down and add more support. Each student will improve at completely different rates, but it is generally one of the best ways to check progress across the class. DOWNLOAD THE CATALOG TO VIEW ALL GUIDED READING BOOKS AVAILABLE (SORTED LEVELS A-Z) Pre-Reading Question (x1) Teacher asks the prompt aloud, can be while showing the cover or first page. Students share what they already know, or make educated guesses from the cover. Prompt them to use the target vocabulary. Write some of their responses on the board to look back at during the reading. Vocabulary Words (x5) Introduce the five words, best doing it one at a time. Start by saying it, while students repeat and then see if anyone knows what it means before reading further. Read through the meaning and try to briefly connect each word to a picture or gesture so it’s meaningful. Ask students to flip through the book pages and point to where they see each of the vocabulary words. While reading the book pause upon coming across one of the vocab words or read the sentence twice to make sure students understand the word has appeared. Optional: Ask students to raise hands whenever they see/hear one of the new words. Guided Reading Pages (x10) Check the book snapshot (below) for: primary topic - do you need to prep extra reading or intro materials on this? what is taught best - decide on 1-2 bullets to focus on, use the prompt or words provided here for best results. learning goals - what you are checking for students to be able to do after the session, elicit answers using prompts or words provided. key vocabulary (see section above). questions overview - so you know what is coming up and if you need to prep extra materials to assist understanding. Run the lesson You may have already looked at a few of the pages together, but you can show them some of the pictures again first to set meaning. Depending on how much time you have and how familiar your students are with guided reading class, you may want to read the book aloud first with the group first. Students whisper or partner read, while you listen in. If time, do it as a group, one student reading a page each. Use the guided page’s prompts to coach: “Check the picture / does it make sense?” “Point under the words / try the first sound” “Reread the sentence smoothly”. Try to focus more on one student per session (rotating every time), so you can work out if they are ready to move up or need to move down a level. Comprehension Questions (back cover x3) This is your way to check that students didn’t just say the words, but actually understood the text. First, let students answer by pointing to the page/picture and saying a short sentence. These dragons are so silly and so much fun for kids to color. As is this entire dragon crafts activity pack. Kids absolutely love these dragons as well with their simple, thick outlines, they are a great way to give your students a break from their work and also be used as a reward for good behavior and an assignment done well. Since so many kids nowadays love dinosaurs and dragons, I thought it would be fun to create a dragon crafts activity pack. The simple drawings are perfect for preschoolers and prereaders. The bookmark designs, which are smaller and more complex, can be enjoyed by older students as well. There are five different dragons on 8.5 x 11 for a total of 10 posters - 5 of the dragons contain a colored example that children can follow to help with color recognition. These do not have a color border. The other 5 dinosaurs are black and white by themselves and contain a colored border. Once colored, the posters can be used to decorate bulletin boards, classrooms, and home refrigerators. They could even be framed and given as gifts! They can be printed and used again and again! In addition, there are 6 double-sided bookmarks with different geometric designs, patterns, and dragon pictures for coloring and printing. Geometry is math, so without realizing it, when your students color in the geometric designs, they are in essence practicing math skills. You can ask your students to identify the shapes and patterns on the bookmarks while they are coloring. You can also teach about shapes and patterns while they are keeping their hands busy coloring them. This can be super helpful in reducing distractibility. The geometric designs are great for developing familiarity with shapes and patterns. Plus, bookmarks make great gifts and encourage reading. The format is pdf downloadable and there are 15 pages, including the cover page. There is no need for an answer key as this dragon craft activity pack is pure fun with a little arts and crafts and math snuck in.
