If you want to give students extra practice with place value, I have just the resource for you. What You Get: This is a Partitioning Place Value Worksheet that was designed for 2nd grade students who are working on or have mastered place value. It also works well as a review for students. It is a 2-page printable. The first page consists of 2-digit numbers. The second page consists of 3-digit numbers. This provides an increase in complexity and differentiation for students. How To Implement This Resource: You can print off enough copies of this worksheet for each student to have. You may also choose to print only a few copies and laminate those. If you choose to laminate them, students can use dry erase markers to write answers. This is a great way to turn this into a math center or small group activity. Students will partition each number using the table provided then complete the sum. The first one is done for them on each page. They will get to practice partitioning tens and units and then they will practice partitioning hundreds, tens, and units. This is great for an independent assignment or homework. It also works well as a math quiz or assessment that could be scored for a grade. If you choose to have students complete it independently, allowing them to work with a partner or in small groups is also a great idea. I hope you enjoy! How To Use The Pre Reader Work Packs At Guinea Pig Education we believe children do not need to spend years learning reading skills; this innovative new scheme teaches children to read in just six months to a year. A non reader should start with our pre reading material. The Pre reader work packs use phonics or the sounds in words. The child can learn a series of phonic sounds, which give him or her a 'tool' to work out nearly 80% of words in the English language. The other 20% of words will be learnt by looking and saying the words. In these packs, the child (or group of children) will be taught to recognise initial sounds as in 'b', 'd' and vowel sounds as in 'a' - c...a...t. They will practise running sounds together to make words. The sentence maker will help him or her to organise the words into sentences. The packs are easy to use with clear instructions, for the adult to use with a child (or group of children). The structured material encourages the child to practise word building and sentence making using phonic sounds. To make learning a really fun experience, the material contains word games , like snap and bingo. The child (children) can move on when the adult is confident the sounds have been learnt. Learn To Read With Phonics Pre Reader packs are designed to start children reading who have not done any reading before. They are a starting point for learning to read with phonics. Children can start at three or four, if they are ready to concentrate. This unit focuses only on the Beginning Digraph sounds. Learning how to read can be the most challenging activity for many students and for a teacher. A digraph in the English language are two letters put together that represents a single sound or phoneme. Understanding that the combination of letters can make one sound can be difficult to master and requires repetitive practice of reading and writing these words with these sounds. There are other phonics units that I sell that focuses on the Ending digraph sounds, and one that focuses on all three digraph sounds in the Beginning, Middle and End. Reading can be made easier with these phonic helps that repeatedly encourage students to practice these Beginning Digraph sounds. Activities include reading comprehension and identifying the digraphs in their reading, writing their answers to questions regarding the paragraph, identifying additional beginning digraph words in sentences using a word bank, matching words with pictures, spinning a paperclip activity where students will write the word with the digraph sound, and lastly a fun wordsearch with the beginning digraph words. These activities are for each digraph so there is plenty of opportunities for students to practice their comprehension reading skills and phonic sounds. Students will practice the following Beginning Digraph sounds: sh, th, wh, and ph. Teachers can use this resource in whole group, individually with students, students can practice with each other in centers, or they can be assigned as homework.
