The concept of nonfiction can be very abstract, making it difficult to teach the concept. These worksheets look at the nonfiction text feature; glossary. Within these worksheets is three activities that are designed to help students understand the concept of a glossary as well as to be able to create their own glossary. This download includes a printable worksheets with three activities, printable checklist with a checklist for individual students and for the class and finally a answer sheet with answers to the activities. The objectives of these worksheets is to deepen the understanding of exactly what a glossary is and how to create one. The first activity helps students to break down a word and describe a particular word like you would in a glossary, the second activity asks students to identify words within a passage and describe them and the final activity lists three words for students to describe with a sentence. There is a checklist for teachers to capture the data from the worksheets. These activities are great for grade 1,2 and 3 and can be used as an introduction, recap, support or enrichment. This is a set of notes (some interactive) and activities that align to the Virginia Social Studies SOLs 3.8 (human, natural, and capital resources), 3.9 (specialization and trade), and 3.10 (economic choice and opportunity cost). While they are geared toward the VA SOLs, they can be used by anyone studying economics, wants and needs, goods and services, resources, etc. There is both a printable and digital version of the notes pages. It includes a PDF version of notes pages and activities, 2 Microsoft ppt (power point) files containing the notes and another containing the activities (can be uploaded to Google and used/read as a Google Slide and used as a digital activity ). There is also a power point of the notes and activities in a wide screen, to use as a display while teaching or completing the activities as a class. The notes pages come in two sizes. The first size is a full-page size. You can print them as-is, or you can print them two to a pages. This is what I do as it saves on paper and the sheets will fit in a notebook. The second size is formatted to fit on a standard composition notebook page.
