Email an Apartment Listing: Letter Writing and Life Skills
Special Resources, Life Studies, ELA, Life Skills, Business, Career, Writing, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
Email an Apartment Listing is a resource to help your students understand how to write a polite email to a potential landlord . We spend so much time in the classroom teaching our students creative writing and essay writing, but when they have careers in the future, what kind of writing will occupy most of their day? Emails of course! In this assignment a specific kind of email that high school students may need to write is high-lighted and explicitly explained. Grades: This assignment could work well for students in grades 5-12. How to use: I would recommend downloading my Email: The Basics Handout and using it to teach your students the key vocabulary components of every email: to, carbon copy, blind carbon copy, subject, salutation, body, signature, attachments, compose, forward, reply, and reply all. Students need to know the function of each of these printables /parts-of-and-anatomy-of">parts of the email (especially to avoid the dreaded "Reply All" mistake that we have all made once or twice). Then, you can focus on this specific email example: emailing a potential landlord. Talk to your students about how you want to make a good first impression with this email by being conscientious and polite. Discuss how to choose an appropriate subject line and salutation with this in mind. You may want to write an entire sample email together as a class (perhaps typed on an interactive whiteboard). Finally, students are assigned a specific task to practice this type of email. They could write by hand on the provided sheet or type it up on their computer. If you like this email assignment, check out my other ones: Emailing a Job Application Emailing a Post Secondary Institution Emailing a Potential Reference

US History Bell Ringers Unit 2 - 45 Daily Warm-Ups (Grades 6-8)
Earth Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Science, Grade 6, 7, 8, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
These US history bell-ringers give middle schoolers a calm, consistent way to begin class. Unit 2 gathers 45 short prompts on A New Nation: Constitution to Sectionalism, arranged as nine weekly pages a teacher can hand out each Monday and collect on Friday. Each day asks something different - a vocabulary term used in context, a few sentences to read and answer, a short source or data set to interpret, a quick check, and a question that asks students to make a claim and back it with evidence. The variety keeps the routine from going stale while still reinforcing the Articles of Confederation, the Constitutional Convention and its compromises, separation of powers and federalism, the Bill of Rights, Washington's precedents, westward expansion, the Age of Jackson and Indian Removal, abolition and women's rights, and the rise of sectionalism. Everything is print-first: a clean PDF that copies well, uses little ink, and needs no accounts or devices. A full answer key and a standards page (CCSS literacy in history and social studies) are included so planning and grading stay quick. Designed for grades 6-8, the prompts work as a daily opener, a spiral review, or a settle-in task while attendance is taken. The routine is the point: the same five-minute opener every day, so students settle without being asked twice. It prints cleanly in black and white, which keeps a full class set cheap to photocopy. Each page stands alone, so a substitute can hand out the week without any briefing. The answer key makes grading quick, whether you collect the pages or review them together as a class. It works in person, hybrid, or remote, and fits a homeschool schedule just as well as a full classroom. No logins, accounts, or devices are required — just the printable PDF. Because a week sits on a single page, students who were absent can catch up without chasing loose handouts.
