Writing Prompts Writing prompts are designed to continue the theme or lessons learned in the story. Students are persuaded to write in a variety of ways and each prompt includes several cues to help. Understanding that the combination of letters can make one sound can be difficult to master and requires repetitive practice of reading and writing these words with these sounds. There are other phonics units that I sell that focuses on the Ending digraph sounds, and one that focuses on all three digraph sounds in the Beginning, Middle and End. Reading can be made easier with these phonic helps that repeatedly encourage students to practice these Beginning Digraph sounds. Activities include reading comprehension and identifying the digraphs in their reading, writing their answers to questions regarding the paragraph, identifying additional beginning digraph words in sentences using a word bank, matching words with pictures, spinning a paperclip activity where students will write the word with the digraph sound, and lastly a fun wordsearch with the beginning digraph words. These activities are for each digraph so there is plenty of opportunities for students to practice their comprehension reading skills and phonic sounds. Students will practice the following Beginning Digraph sounds: sh, th, wh, and ph. Teachers can use this resource in whole group, individually with students, students can practice with each other in centers, or they can be assigned as homework. Worksheets are also differentiated for each Beginning Digraph sound for all young learners which makes it perfect for all 1st - 2nd graders. A total of 26 pages full of reading and phonic activities. Along with reading and writing, there are matching, cutting, and pasting activities. Word searches and spin and make a word activity are also a part of this packet which make learning to read these phonic sounds entertaining for young learners. Do you want your students in grades 5-7 to learn how to become global citizens who can respect a variety of cultural norms and comprehend cross-cultural differences? Are you looking for a fun way to bring all of these ideas to life? Check out this ready-to-go lesson for your class. This 5-Page PDF is ready to print for your social studies classroom. It includes clear teacher instructions for a fun class simulation where half of your students will act out a new "class norm" (five options are provided such as not raising your hand to ask a question) that the other half of your class won't be expecting. While the simulation is happening, everyone will be working on a three page reading comprehension task. Students will read about cultural norms from around the world (slurping noodles when eating in Japan or nodding one's head to say "no" in Bulgaria). They will imagine how not knowing about the cultural norms in a place where they are travelling could lead to accidental misunderstandings. Students are also taught a simple definition of the concept of stereotypes, and they will think of how they are different from cultural norms. Finally, there is a 1-page reflection with prompts- perfect for after a class discussion. Teacher Instructions: 1. Split your class in two and talk to only one half. 2. Tell them that they will have a new “class cultural norm.” Pick one from the provided ideas. 3. When the whole class is reunited, pass out the reading page & worksheets. Students read about cultural norms and answer the questions. 4. As they work, the selected half will enact their new norm, which will confuse the other half of the class. 5. Once the point has been made, let the other half in on the secret. 6. Have a discussion about cultural norms and give students time to write a reflection about this lesson.

This is a very engaging, rigorous, and fun book study unit that the students will learn and grow from. There are 10 lessons with 15 rigorous comprehension, vocabulary, and figurative language questions for each. Each lesson covers two chapters as well in this 20 chapter book. After each lesson is finished, their is a 5-point rigorous Exit Quiver Quiz the teacher can administer which equals 10 total quizzes. The quizzes are full of comprehension, context clue vocabulary, figurative language, inferencing, main ideas, tone, themes, and much more. For every four chapters or two lessons there is a rigorous fill-in-the-blank vocabulary test with the ten words from the lessons. There are five 10-point vocabulary tests along with 50 Context Clue Practice Sentence Cards to help with the tests! Great for group activities, too! There is also a WordArt Vocabulary Template to Learn words in a fun, artistic way! At the end of the unit, there is a 25-point multiple choice test as well. There are two writing prompts: a mini-research prompt and a memoir prompt. A 4-Page Summary/Main Idea Activity Packet to help with Writing Summaries and Main Ideas has been added! SEL Stress Management Game-SEL Coloring Pages

In this resource, you will get an engaging game like Apples To Apples. There are 36 strategy cards and 18 situation cards. This is an SEL game. Each person takes a turn with being the judge like Apples to Apples. It is important to make enough sets for the number of groups who will be playing. for example, I recommend at least 3-5 people playing together for each group. So if there are 20 students, then create at least 5 different sets of the cards, Then follow the directions for the game below: First, everyone gets 5 strategy cards. There is no revealing the cards to other players. Then one person is chosen to be the "judge" for the first round. I usually pick the oldest person to make it fair. The judge reveals the card to all and even can read the card out loud. The the other players choose one of their strategy cards to handle that particular situation. Then the judge decides which one they would use. Important; there is not right or wrong here, just what one person would do in that situation. Next the next player goes (usually counter clockwise) to who will be the judge. The person will reveal the situation and the other players will play their strategy card. Play as long as time allows. Next, you can print off the mindfulness coloring sheets for students to color and reinforce the idea or coloring mindfully when they are upset, frustrate, need some time alone, etc. There is a way to change the word and position of the word in the mindfulness coloring sheet. Topics are varied and are accompanied by colorful graphics. Topics are meant to educate, yet entertain the modern student. These passages are perfect for the modern classroom. Whereas textbooks can become outdated in no time, any changes to technology or the world will result in updates to this product. Mixed Questions The mixed questions section of each lesson includes a variation of five comprehension, vocabulary and math questions. In addition, key reading strategies are frequently covered including cause & effect, summarizing, compare & contrast and making conclusions. Two or three of the questions will be MCQs and other questions will require a written response of some kind. Full answers and example responses appear at the end of the lesson. Spelling & Vocab Each reading passage contains a variety of words and phrases designed for Grade 4-5 students. Spelling and vocab activities provide the opportunity to build fluency with these words. As it can become quite mundane doing the same activities over and over, each lesson in a set will contain a different spelling and vocab activity . Activities include: spelling games, sentence match-ups, mixed-up text and decoding words from the lesson. Writing Prompts Writing prompts are designed to continue the theme or lessons learned in the story. Students are persuaded to write in a variety of ways and each prompt includes several cues to help. As with the spelling/vocab section, writing prompts will vary. This includes research pieces, reading responses, poetry and creative writing prompts. Full Answer Keys Full answer keys and sample responses are provided so no matter how busy you are, you know you're covered! Mixed question answers provide evidence from the text, math questions contain the relevant workings. Answers are designed for use by the teacher, but also suitable as a handout to the student. Just for Fun Each lesson will have a bonus extension exercise. This is something fun to extend the lesson with. You can find these at the end of each lesson, titled Just for Fun.
